The shitty thing to me is so many of these games have been out for ages. I took a break from VR for a couple years, come back to it and there's STILL all the same old games that are the best.
It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Since there’s not many people into VR, there’s not a lot of money to get developing VR games, lead to less and less people interested. HL Alyx and lots of these high quality games are a product of passion I’m sure, they’d have made much more money making non-VR games
That doesn't apply to quest ! it's starting to become the default platform for VR. Batman for one is a great exclusive that just released, maybe game of the year, it has 4.7 stars on the store, there is also into black, contractors showdown (also available on pcvr), Arizona sunshine 1 had a remake, blade and sorcery released version 1.0 with crystal hunt ( a full compaign ), there are also two big games released at the end of last year Assassins creed nexus and Asgard's wrath 2 both are good. So i don't really agree with you, i think things are actually moving, and it's not over with Alien and Behemoth dropping before the end of the year.

Re4 is the best re in vr in my opinion. Simply because of the game play. It’s still scary but you can do more than just shoot. There’s perfect perys, finishers for stunned enemies, stealth kills. Noticeably different animations for attacking certain weak spots. And probably other stuff that I’m missing. Anything less just feels dull now.

Honestly even though it’s not primarily a VR title but it does have the option for it, Elite Dangerous could fit in the flight sim genre as an honorable mention.
I know there's not a lot of love, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. But Assassins Creed nexus VR was THE game I would recommend to anyone wanting to see what vr could do. Climbing, running, jumping, sneaking, action. I never felt so much a badass as I did playing that game. It was what got me into VR. It was so good and I loved it so much.
I'm surprised No Man's Sky didn't appear in any of the categories. One of the best experiences in VR, although I'm not sure which category it fits best. Maybe survival?
I love NMS, but the HUD being locked and seeing my floating body when I turn around totally kills it for me sadly. I REALLY want to love this VR port, but it's such a deal breaker for me.
Hey Matteo! Thanks for this great list. I'd definitely recommend these titles. I have played so much VR in the past few years and I would say that I don't really feel immersed anymore unless I'm playing a horror game. That being said, FNAF Help Wanted 1 is my favorite VR game of all time. I did have to look up some strategies because it is pretty hard (but I enjoy hard games.) It is so much scarier than the second one, but there is just so much content, horror, and enjoyment to be had I would definitely recommend trying it out. You're gonna want to grind out every level in that game as it just keeps on serving new levels. Also I would recommend the DLC which leans more into enjoyment but still has its horror aspects.
When I started VR at the beginning of the year, I used your videos to expand my game catalogue knowledge. It's cool now seeing these videos while recognizing the games. I'm surprised that Walkabout Minigolf didn't make the list. It's a must get for any headsets! I would've also added Superhot VR, but that's personal preference and may not be considered best for everyone. Keep it up!
Walkabout is such a great game and definitely should be on this list! It just got an update with new modes to play not long ago & they keep putting out these beautiful courses to play on like tomorrow july 25th we are getting the wallace and gromit collab course!
I would also recommend Half Life 2 VR Mod. It's on steam and is very well made, I had alot of fun in it and it's a great way to play through HL2 again, or try it for the first time :D
For sim games I'd personally split racing and flight sims. For flight sims my picks would be IL2 Great Battles for WW2 air combat and DCS for cold war to modern air combat. For racing games: almost all serious racing games support VR so it's basically up to what you want to race, iRacing has the best multiplayer experience but is expensive and on the more serious end of the spectrum (intentional ramming will get you banned), the recent F1 games are pretty fun (though I'm not the biggest fan of their physics and driving feel) and for rally you've got D.R.2 or EA WRC. All PCVR because that's where the best sims are.
The best rally sim in VR is still RBR, and it's 20 years old and free lol Otherwise yeah iRacing is the most serious sim for multiplayer racing, but LMU is great and Raceroom is underrated
No Battle Talent is a crime. It has a good modding community with an ingame mod menu, Blade and Sorcery like combat that gives an actual challenge that is physics based, a lot of weapons have special abilities and there is a lot of spells, you fight things like skeletons and goblins, it has a arena sandbox, a rougelike mode, a progression based mode, and a multiplayer in beta phase. Available on all platforms. This game fits like 3 of these categories.
Man, you did a great job on this video. I'm pumped for VR again after being away for a while. With the PSVR 2 PC adapter being released, I'm looking forward to finally playing Lone Echo and Half Life Alyx.
Good video, but my favorite game is missing :D I guess a "sports games" or "Racket games" category could have been added, and then Eleven Table Tennis could have been the best in this category.
I have some of my own personal recommendations: Iron Rebellion (Mech Multiplayer PvP) Minecraft (Survival/Sandbox, Vivecraft Mod or through Bedrock) Audica (Rhythm Shooter, would only recommend this is you really like rhythm games and want something similar to Osu x Beat Saber)
No Synth Riders?? If your favorite part about beat saber is how sometimes you feel like you're doing professional dances while you're playing, Synth Riders leans into that all the way
Thanks Matteo and everyone in the comments! Have a great list on my phone now of games to play. Just set my OG HTC Vive back up after not playing it for like 7 years. Well other than pavlov with a buddy a few years back. So stoked to get back into it and play all the new games I've missed out on. Probably gonna play Half Life: Alyx first. Had it on my PC since it dropped and never touched it. Lol.
Great reviews of allot of different games. I am a PCVR gamer and use a Quest 3. How would you rate Myst and Riven puzzle solving games? The graphics details of both games are amazing in VR, and like I said we are just solving puzzles with an underlying story line. There is really no fast paced action in Myst and Riven - mainly search and solve. I do have Half life Alyx, into the Radius 2 VR, No Mans Sky VR, and Hubris VR. There are some other interesting action games but waiting for a sale price on STEAM. I also have older DOOM, QUAKE, and Woflenstein games in VR. Surprised that they look and work pretty good in VR Thanks for your video. Take care.
pretty spot on, I agree with it all. But very lacking on driving sims, GT7 is great. but a lot of people have vr just fro driving sims. AMS2, Assetto Corsa, Dirt rally 2, iRacing, ACC to name a few. otherwise great list
@@Gamingwithmatteo311Assetto Corsa is absolutely one of the best racing sims on VR, by far. The mods are what make that game. Once you try Shutoko Revival Project, and you fly down one of those Tokyo freeways with traffic at night at 200mph, you'll see what I mean 😁
This was an excellent video. Im.really glad blade & sourcery and into the radius are also coming to PSVR2 soon. And lookin forward to aces of thunder for a sim. I gotta shout out stilt for platformers, propagation paradise hotel for horror, 7th guest for puzzle and galaxy kart for racers.
Great video! Riven is an excellent recent addition to the puzzle game genre, supports VR. I'm surprised when people say there aren't enough quality games in VR.
Crazy how far vr has come! I remember when the original oculus rift came out and I would watch UA-camrs play job simulator, and when I got my quest 2 the greatest game at the time was beat saber or population one. So many new great games have come out since and it’s so much fun now!
Mh. I missed Skyrim. Yeah, its okd, but still THE VR-Game :p And i was hoping for Deisim. Its a God-Sim and so cool. All in all a top video of good VR-Titles. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll go to buy Demeon now. :)
This is a great list and great material, as usual. You REALLY have to try Ragnarock! It's a great warmup for VR boxing and, though the graphics are stylized, I find it more satisfying than Beat Saber. Some of the tunes are real bangers.
Thanks for including Lone Echo series. For me, they're among the best in VR, maybe only topped by Half-Life Alyx. It's difficult to put in words how good they are.
Into The Radius 2 was just released to early access in steamvr. For rogue like genre I would recommend Ancient Dungeon VR. It got co-op update some time ago. "8 bit style" graphics may off put someones.
I just finished the (recently updated) Bulletstorm VR. Awesome VR conversion of a 2015 favorite. Also add Star Wars: Squadrons to your list. It is X-Wing vs TIE Fighter 2020, with VR support. The multiplayer servers are dead but it's still a fun arcade-y space flight sim. (single player story and bot battles now)
Thanks for this, Mateo311! This had to have been a huge amount of work to put together. It'd be nice to get your recommendations on converted/modded pancake games. Cyberpunk2077, Alien Isolation, RDR2, various UEVR. What are your recommendations. What's woth it, what's not? To me, Cyberpunk2077 is overwhelmingly good! Mixed-VR/AR game recommendations would be nice too: Bricktales, Bomber Drone, etc.
Great list of games. One horror/survival game that I really like is Alien Isolation with the VR mod. Hopefully the coming Alien game made for VR will be as good or better.
as long as Pavlov is the PvP VRFPS, I agree :) Recently Tarkov guns are added to the most respected community servers. I personally am not much into them, but getting blasted by a granade launcher is always fun (weirdly) Great vid. thx
I wanted to mention a few of my favourite games on the PSVR for people who are looking for something else: Walkabout Golf - Amazing fun with friends Tetris Effect - The best version of Tetris hands down The Light Brigade - Addictive rogue-like
Beat Saber absolutely owns the first rule of video games; easy to learn difficult to master. Super simple interface, no buttons or joysticks and the high end difficulty is so high it's practically impossible to rate. If they had Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd music packs it would be perfect.
@garrettferrell6821 I would probably throw my shoulder right out to Creeping Death! Not yet, but the Queen pack has Stone Cold Crazy and it's not much different than Metallica's cover. Just James singing instead of Freddie. Says a lot about a song when Metallica covers it and doesn't really get any harder.
If you have Beat Saber on PC, you can easily mod the game and get access to community made songs. I'm sure there's plenty of Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd content out there on the modded side. I've modded my Beat Saber and it's awesome. To the point where I literally never buy the official packs anymore. Overpriced junk in comparison.
@@sgtquencher1002 i immediately download custom songs the moment I bought it. The song packs are absolute price gouging, though I kinda understand why they did that
@@pnoodl3s775 Agreed. There's so much content people have made. I love adding Classic Rock songs because it's personally my favorite genre of music. Though I do have some newer songs but they also sound like Classic Rock. lol
Thank you, very nice list as always! It would be nice to add which of those games are physically active and which are not, even tho half of them I can guess myself. Or even if you want ideas for new videos, you can make one with and one without physically active games in every category :)
I think you should add games that have their desktop and vr version built in the same game. Games that you can start in desktop mode or vr whitout paying more. Like No mans sky, the forest, elite dangerous... All these games that are really fun to play both ways. Also one category that can be included is the Asymmetric VR games. Where desktop players can play with VR players. There is a bunch of these. Def Davigo is the best one so far
Until You Fall... A game I forgot that I fell in love with at one time. I need to hop back in! Been tryin to push myself to start working out again and that game will definitely get my heart pumpin. Seriously, if you want a workout without realizing you're workin out, play some Until You Fall. You'll be sweating by the end and not care, haha. It's so good.
Hyper Dash is a smaller game that i am so happy is getting more love. It is the most fun VR game i have played and i have play my fair share of them. The Payload game-mode is so fun and unique and the weapons are amazingly designed and fun to use
Astro Bot Rescue Mission is the best platformer hands down. Also, Red Matter is more like an adventure game than a puzzle game: Puzzle adventure if you will. Still, very exhaustive list 👌
It is a very valid reason. However, if we don't acknowledge older games that still hold up, it is less likely that those will be brought forward to current hardware. It is not like suddenly all the older great games are bad, but just trapped.
I'm always sad to see Subnautica never makes any survival lists because the native VR is so janky and requires a mod. It's so damned good. Green Hell is also really damned good.
If by "immersive" you mean constantly getting bitten by a spider you never saw and having to sidetrack to "fix" that poison, or dealing with 2 game characters who are supposed to simultaneously be such badasses that they take off to crazy remote areas of the jungle and then split up so that they are alone, and also such pansies that they go in to crisis mode over something like falling 5' from a rope, and listening to them piss and moan about it, then yeah.
Man, lists like these make me want to go grab a PSVR2 and a decent PC so I can play all the best the medium has to offer. I'll just stick to my Quest 3 for now though I think. No love for PSVR1? Blood and Truth and Astro Bot Rescue Mission were amazing! A couple I might add to a 'Best of VR' type list, but not sure what genre they would fall into would be Vail (Non free-to-play competitive shooter?) and Trover Saves the Universe (Humor? Platformer?).
Fast first person movement is bad in VR (unless in some kind of cockpit, like racing sims, space sims, flight sims). So all FPS games are too fast for VR, but if you can mod, or adjust them (so that you can move slower and survive while stationary) they will be playable. But you should check it yourself first.
Into the Radius is for me the best version on the Pico 4, best handling and interaction of the weapons, no comparison to the Quest or PSVR2 version, for me it is so good that I only play on the Pico4
Did I blink when you mentioned "Ghosts of Tabor"? It's a game in a genre I want to get good at, but lack the willpower to push myself in to standing up and raising the heart rate. Maybe when I get a sweat proof face thing for the new Q3 I'll trust the process more, but until then there's loads of options listed almost mentioned too quickly for me to note down. Edit to add a comment about "The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners" - I have it my Steam playtime is 20 minutes so I guess I don't do horror VR well at all. That was the Rift S days with the cable I could trip over or rip out when standing up. Now with the Q3, Virtual Desktop and a better router I can get wireless speeds between the headset and PC for PCVR wireless gaming at the same speed, which from my experience with Half Life: Alyx is bloody awesome. I just need to train myself to now remember I can turn on the spot when I need to instead of using the controller direction. Also to note that there's a Steam VR Update in the works that will allow for hand tracking in games. I haven't yet tried it out and it's currently on Beta but it is coming and that will further the immersion of PCVR.
Eleven Table Tennis is INSANELY fun to play! 3d Printed Table Tennis paddle for my controller OR you can buy one. It's one of the most fun I had in VR, whether you are a ping pong person or not!
I mean this with the utmost respect. You are top notch at that "G-force" old school delivery. And I hate it. Not cause there's anything wrong with it, but because it works. 😂
Dungeons of Eternity got a great update recently and a small one is coming very soon. I think they're doing a free weekend this week as well. Such a fun game. They've been doing a great job of supporting the title and adding content.
Do you have a video where you rate this? I will ask under: the most realistic looking and the best-looking graphics in a vr games of all games you have tried with, including any PCVR games out there? including possible modded games or excluded, of all the games you tried, which is the most realistic beautiful near real life and overall the best looking game to buy?

i used that game as a part of my actual workout routine, the cardiovascular strain i got during that game was intense 🤣
I have some of my own personal recommendations:
Iron Rebellion (Mech Multiplayer PvP)
Minecraft (Survival/Sandbox, Vivecraft Mod or through Bedrock)
Audica (Rhythm Shooter, would only recommend this is you really like rhythm games and want something similar to Osu x Beat Saber)
The Light Brigade is one of my personal favorite VR Roguelikes
Came here to say this, I agree!
Absolutely agreed. I love that game. Haven't played it since before the newest content update. I really need to get back to it soon.
Lol.
just got back into VR after a few years hiatus, good list to give me stuff to look at.
Great video! You should mention Freeland in the list, as it’s launching soon!
Surprised that they look and work pretty good in VR
Thanks for your video. Take care.
HELLA NICE VIDEO, THANK YOU
pretty spot on, I agree with it all. But very lacking on driving sims, GT7 is great. but a lot of people have vr just fro driving sims. AMS2, Assetto Corsa, Dirt rally 2, iRacing, ACC to name a few. otherwise great list
@@linzkirk my least played genre by far
@@Gamingwithmatteo311Assetto Corsa is absolutely one of the best racing sims on VR, by far. The mods are what make that game. Once you try Shutoko Revival Project, and you fly down one of those Tokyo freeways with traffic at night at 200mph, you'll see what I mean 😁
Just wishlisted Journey to Foundation. Appreciate the recommends!
matteo: the best single player shooter is half life alyx.
me:(cries in quest)
Try half life 2, and half life episode one, and half life episode 2.
Sideload Half-life one from sidequest, if u are a Half-life fan...
But... You can use your Quest on PC.
I’m using quest 3 on pc with 0 problem. I actually don’t have any quest games, all steamvr
@@smurf88 Not everyone has an 700+ dollar gaming pc
This was an excellent video.
Im.really glad blade & sourcery and into the radius are also coming to PSVR2 soon. And lookin forward to aces of thunder for a sim.
I gotta shout out stilt for platformers, propagation paradise hotel for horror, 7th guest for puzzle and galaxy kart for racers.
Great video! Riven is an excellent recent addition to the puzzle game genre, supports VR.
I'm surprised when people say there aren't enough quality games in VR.
It's the thing people said 4 years ago, but people didn't update their biased opinions
pretty nice list, thanks
Crazy how far vr has come! I remember when the original oculus rift came out and I would watch UA-camrs play job simulator, and when I got my quest 2 the greatest game at the time was beat saber or population one. So many new great games have come out since and it’s so much fun now!
Mh. I missed Skyrim. Yeah, its okd, but still THE VR-Game :p
And i was hoping for Deisim.
This is a great list, but I definitely would have included Battle Talent.
Thanks for the timestamps with game names.
Thanks this was so helpful I love VR
Half Life Alyx is incredible!
I personally am not much into them, but getting blasted by a granade launcher is always fun (weirdly) Great vid. thx
Again, great video. Can't wait for your channel to truly blow up (say...+1m subs) =)
I wanted to mention a few of my favourite games on the PSVR for people who are looking for something else:
Walkabout Golf - Amazing fun with friends
Tetris Effect - The best version of Tetris hands down
The Light Brigade - Addictive rogue-like
Can't believe The Light Brigade was not part of the "Roguelikes" section
Beat Saber absolutely owns the first rule of video games; easy to learn difficult to master. Super simple interface, no buttons or joysticks and the high end difficulty is so high it's practically impossible to rate.
If they had Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd music packs it would be perfect.
Do the have a Metallica music pack?some Metallic classic seem like they would be great for Beat Saber
Though I do have some newer songs but they also sound like Classic Rock. lol
awesome video
Good idea
I excluded astro because I'm not covering psvr1 anymore but I agree it's fantastic
It is a very valid reason. However, if we don't acknowledge older games that still hold up, it is less likely that those will be brought forward to current hardware. It is not like suddenly all the older great games are bad, but just trapped.
Love bonelab so glad to see it on the list! Definitely had it's jank but love it for everything it does.
good list, you forgot Battle Talent
I was gonna say that, too many lists don’t include it
All those reviewers always forgot to include Green Hell VR. Any quest owner should try how immersive Green Hell VR is.
I got it from Quest+ but haven’t tried it yet..I might check it out later
It was good but not my favorite sim
That game was to much of a pain wich drain the fun from it
I'm always sad to see Subnautica never makes any survival lists because the native VR is so janky and requires a mod.
Platformer?).
excellent video
The light brigade is a top tier roguelite worth mentioning
I would add a Competitive category with Rumble on top
can you play all first-person shooter (doom clone) and third-person shooter games in vr?
Fast first person movement is bad in VR (unless in some kind of cockpit, like racing sims, space sims, flight sims). So all FPS games are too fast for VR, but if you can mod, or adjust them (so that you can move slower and survive while stationary) they will be playable. But you should check it yourself first.
Sports games are overlooked here as well:
Racket Club, Eleven table tennis, First Person Tennis
The Light Brigade and Ancient dungeon VR are two of the best Rougelites on quest in my opinion.
Into the Radius is for me the best version on the Pico 4,
best handling and interaction of the weapons, no comparison to the Quest or PSVR2 version, for me it is so good that I only play on the Pico4
@@kimk.7991 what about pc?
While it has not been updated in a while the total free game Graple Tournament still is a blast
@@sidrat2009 yup you missed it
Eleven Table Tennis is INSANELY fun to play!
Like g-force tech tv? I'm just old
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 We all are. It's alright. Haha
For next year I'd love to see a VR Ports section, cause there are some bangers in there. But you forgot Vail VR for PVP. It's crazy good.
Nice video, just felt I had to clarify that Crossfire: Sierra Squad is also available on Steam if any pcvr users would like to try that game out.
For horror games, Blair Witch VR could also be recommended ;)
It's great how the Quest 3 can also just be used for pcvr.
singleplayer story games: Budget Cuts 1/2
Rougelike/sandbox action game : Paint the town red
very good
Definitely check out a township tale! It’s an underloved game that is so fun with friends!
Dungeons of Eternity got a great update recently and a small one is coming very soon. I think they're doing a free weekend this week as well. Such a fun game. They've been doing a great job of supporting the title and adding content.
I think that free weekend just happened. I had intended to try it but slept on it.
In the store it tells you the following weeks weekend games,I believe this week is gaurdians frontline and a racket game
Thumper is a good rythm game, very trippy.
Do you have a video where you rate this? I will ask under:
the most realistic looking and the best-looking graphics in a vr games of all games you have tried with, including any PCVR games out there? including possible modded games or excluded, of all the games you tried, which is the most realistic beautiful near real life and overall the best looking game to buy?
It's been awhile since I covered that topic
Another great roguelike is Light Brigade
