  • The release of the 2016 Ford Mustang in factory RHD for the Australian market was the trigger for Harrop to design an aftermarket kit for the Coyote 5.0 V8. No stranger to Ford V8 platforms, Harrop first developed a HTV2300 supercharger kit in 2007 for the 5.4 BOSS found in the Falcon and FPV BA to FG model variants. The local development of the Miami OE Supercharged V8 using the Coyote 5.0 V8 engine platform integrated with a Harrop HTV1900 supercharger system was released into the FPV V8 range in 2010 and remains the Ford OEM powertrain for the current FGX XR8. With a wealth of experience supplying both OEM and Aftermarket supercharger systems, Harrop continues to engineer performance with a new supercharger system design for the S550 5.0 Mustang.
    This inverted positive displacement supercharger kit is engineered and manufactured by Harrop to OEM standards using Eaton R2300 TVS Technology. Featuring superior packaging and performance efficiency, this kit is available as both a Tuner Kit or Complete Kit with a supplied emissions certification pending calibration, offering the S550 chassis the power and torque enhancement normally reserved for supercars with more than triple the price tag.

    throttle body is the limiting factor here, looks like a nice little kit for sub 600hp

    Mad kit just needs drive line warranty included in the package paying extra for that when people have 3-6 year factory warranties with ford they have paid for makes it tough to want to buy you products.
    That's how I feel anyway. I want to buy it but I need protection. Mustang motorsports offer a 3 year warranty included with their package so it makes it much more sense to go with them

    Loving the effort you guys are putting in. I ditched the idea of a Mustang after the dismal safety rating and bought a boat. I reckon if this kit was around earlier, I would have tried my luck. Let's see how things go and maybe the next mustang might entice again. There is always a catch when a thing is that beautiful and with Harrop's prowess, it would have been perfect. If you have a GT already, then this would be at the top of the list of things to do, along with the hot mother who always wears those tight shiny black jeans at school drop off.

      the safety rating was pretty much just with the lowness of the cars and the backseats. other than that they scored almost 5 stars in every other crash test, but those brought it down from 5 stars to a 2.

      These seem more like oem+ upgrades, they talk like they are really going for emissions testing. If you read the Ford race pages they made 701 to the wheels with a vortech on the same motor. lol (all bolt-on btw)

    The runners look much better than Edelbrock’s unit. Would be nice to see a 2650 version of this for comparison.

    Man y’all have some awesome cars there we don’t know exist. Is Australia not suffering from the SUV/CUV fever like the US is?

    NICE kit! Roush stage 1 does 670whp and 500wtq and keeps warranty as well...SEEMS like a very clean/nice set up but so is the Roush...if Roush is same price or less it'll be a tough sell...more power with a pully change, you get over 700whp but void warranty so if this isn't super cheap, I'd stick with the proven Roush...IF this saves me 500 or more bucks, then I'd consider it.

    • @harropengineering7448
      @harropengineering7448 7 років тому +8

      Hi LJ, the 670 refers to engine horsepower not rear wheel. if we are talking engine HP then our Kit is a touch over the 700hp mark, we also offer warranty on this kit. We were able to design a kit that doesn't require modification to the engine, i believe our kit is cheaper than the Roush here in Aus - win win!

      LJ, plus this is with stock everything except the Supercharger/Cold Air Intake meaning stock headers/cats. Just imagine what this could do with those mods added. It could prob get close to 800hp. What I'm curious about though is the cooling. Itsjusta6 had a Roush and his belt would slip off and the engine overheat. Then there was another guy, I think Rated R cars which had a Whipple and his also would overheat so since these are similar, I'm curious how this one performs cooling wise. I don't want to go on a long trip and have my engine blow up on me cause My Mustang is my daily. Too bad this blower isn't sold in the US.

    Very nicely engineered system. How does your system differ from the Edelbrock supercharger system sold in the US?

    • @Fee.1
      @Fee.1 6 років тому

      The Alpha Male i cant tell you specifically either, but edelbrock does seem to be producing kits that have similar design goals as harrop’s and even look much like harrop’s do now (both are aiming for a OEM packaging/appearance etc. though I guess) aside from performance I’d look at warranty, what type of blower, roots/“TVS” (still roots/or twin screw, my understanding is all else being equal twin screws are simply superior and reduce need for intercooler surface area/intercoolimg at all in some cases because there’s so much less heat generated vs a roots style (I can’t say confidently that this applies to TVS as I’m not sure if that’s strictly marketing dribble or if Eaton has actually fundamentally tweaked something about Roots blowers operation in their design of the TVS series, they made an off the cuff claim that it’s not actually hotter but I’ve yet to see anything that backs that up/substantiates it.
      Also pay attention to things like accessories/sensors. Do they each include/support/include the same sensors, does either/both include a bypass valve (harrop was first to ever do this with their e9x M3 unit a few years ago) and upgrade path (are stage 2 kits/different pulley sizes available) & tunability, for that I’d check forums or call a few tuners that you’d be using and ask their opinion on the ability to tune it/fine tune boost delivery especially if a bypass valve is involved, and inquire as to the pros and cons of bypass valve vs. no bypass valve and when it’s recdomended & when it’s not.
      Someone recently commented that their harrop e9x m3 unit made it difficult to control a drift as if you slightly lifted off the throttle mid-drift it was like flipping a switch and the car straightened out immediately, as if traction control had kicked in, I assume that’s the bypass valve being activated/bypassed, causing a sudden increase/decrease of torque, but those m3 kits didn’t have a MAP sensor and this mustang one does and it’s possible that alone would be enough to help fine tune throttle issues like that.
      Just do your research, and keep doing it, until you have nothing you can be surprised by, and then there’s zero chance to be disappointed that a $10,000 investment isn’t living up to your expectations.
      and if you find everything seems almost equal in every regard, then send harrop sales/support team an email and do the same with edelbrock (or call if you prefer) and see which one responds faster and is willing to assist you more. I can’t speak RE: edelbrock but harrop exchanged a handful of emails with me over the weekend sharing info/insight into things they didn’t even have to acknowledge much less give me detailed answers to, but they did, and I’m not even a customer, but hope to be soon.

      The Alpha Male also, both seem to make a kit for the GT86, so that may be a decent baseline to compare the 2.

    Outstanding job gentlemen! Question: Given the massive impact you've had on power and torque, to what extent do you think the rest of the engine and then the drivetrain is able to handle it? Obviously the cars coming to Aust are all new at the moment and this would void their 3 year warranty.

    • @blueblood5297
      @blueblood5297 8 років тому

      Pretty sure harrop give you warranty
      And in the US they are pushing these motors stock with a blower or turbos upwards of 1000 hp and running 9s down the 1/4 just with et radials

    What is the impact on fuel (98) usage after installing a supercharger in city and highway driving when compared to stock?

    • @blueblood5297
      @blueblood5297 8 років тому +1

      I had a 2.4 whipple on a Xr8 with the 5.4 hwy it used 11liters per 100ks and that was from a boss 260kw fly to 440kw at the fly

    • @harropengineering7448
      @harropengineering7448 7 років тому

      Hi Nevilegreg1, the impact is not huge, in saying that it will all depend on how heavy your right foot is. We had a customer drive from Sydney to Adelaide getting an average of 9.5L/100km. This Mustang was putting out 485kw at the rear hubs.
