Why aren't we talking about the elephant in the room? In absolute numbers, white women are the biggest voters of the republican party and Trump.

Bless you, Jon, for being able to remain optimistic during such dark days. I wish I could join you in that. At 65, I just can't work up that optimism. I've seen too much hatefulness, too much darkness to believe in this country anymore. Feeling deep grief for what America has become and for the coming loss of our democracy. Humans learn best through pain. We will be learning much in the coming days/weeks/years, I'm afraid.

Thanks. Please know that many of us will NOT like what this is going to do to the USA's friends. Know there are many of us who believe that democracy and freedom for all is the ultimate goal.
So often people don't exercise their minds... their souls suffer for it... and their ego doesn't want to admit they were wrong. That's what makes it so hard to change course. And I am talking about millions of foolish egos.
Very few ever have the moral and intellectual courage to admit it when they were wrong... even to themselves. They'll just blame someone else. So, I'm not even hopeful for a peaceful ending to this. I'm just going to try to save the innocents as long as I can.
I'm trying very hard not to pull the hope out of so many peoples lives. They believe people will realise how wrong they were.

I grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta. My Husband grew up on a farm near a small town. I can see how we looked at things differently. Over half of Americans have a different way of looking at things. I have studied WWII and all the men in my family serve in the Military. We understand Hitler and how people didn’t pay attention while Hitler built the German Army. Millions Died.

I understand how you feel. While some truly want a dictator, most of America truly doesn't comprehend the threat he poses but they will once he starts affecting their lives.

I don’t know that I still believe in my country because I see what happened as a mirror . I am ready to listen to those Americans that feel polar opposite of me to empathize with their concerns and find better solutions than where we landed Tuesday. I know they exists. The work starts now.

As a Canadian, I couldn't participate in helping the Democrats win the election as it's considered foreign election interference but those living outside the US like myself can help with the resistance now with spreading the word and helping with international advocacy like Amnesty International on human rights abuses, acting as witnesses and holding Trump's et al's feet to the fire, using international pressure. You're not alone.
We have our own Trump-light to worry about. We barely defeated them in B.C. but they are coming for the whole country. And I am worried about him, another populist with no plan but cutting and tax breaks for the wealthy.

This didnt happen overnight. This is the culmination of a creeping movement where people werent paying attention and others figured there was somebody taking care of potential threats so nobody needed to say or do anything. By 2022, the right wing had plans and judges to create a win for MAGA. This reminds me of Bush vs Gore electoral race.. Nobody gave a whoop or a whimper. I think this election has brought people together because of Kamala's campaign. People came together like never before, and we are all feeling a special camaraderie now. The Trump supporters will have their election victory, but they won't have want we have. I'm thankful to be in the right camp, and can still listen to your insightful, sound, humorous commentaries and your great leadership. Much love! ❤
True. When she picked Walz as her running mate, I really thought that we were going to approach a Bernie moment. Even when the DNC flipped the script, we still had that vision, the list of hopeful things and then some that we might accomplish. It was painful to see them not come out clearly against the gen 0 side and for human rights, going repug lite with the Cheneys.
Regardless. The DNC can't take away that sense of community and support, nor can the take our vision of a better world.

What's wonderful about your suggestion is it reveals how many people we still have on our side willing to get down and do dirty, tough work. I'm 24 and my goal for these next few years is to help my friends and I escape the toxic media silos of social media, so I'm starting some book clubs. Ironic to post it here, but less reels and more reading.
