Two years later M-Audio still hasn't updated/corrected the instructions on their website for setting up this device with a Mac. Anyone got any helpful advice? Seems a shame to have those transport keys and faders not doing anything useful. So much for M-Audio's responsive support!
Yeah, I just got mine today. There is no option for changing it between PC and MAC in the Global Parameters. I guess it isn't important for this model? Who knows, because there is no official manual as of this time. Great job M-Audio! Super Professional!
@@ThomasRoscoeMusic Well, I love my Arturia MK2 MiniLab, but I wanted something with a bigger keyboard and transport controls, so the Oxygen Pro 32 seemed perfect. However, the transport controls are a HUGE pain to get "working" with Studio One and the drum pads are just awful compared to the Arturia MiniLab. I've tried all the different pad sensitivity settings and they just suck for playing anything even moderately fast. I'm returning it and have a Nektar 49 key coming tomorrow. It's way too big for me, but it has all the features i want plus it has out of the box compatibility for Studio One for only 50 bucks more than the Oxygen 32.
I have been in touch with tech for weeks trying to resolve what it says in manual about selecting pc/Mac after 3 weeks they emailed apologising having realised the manual is wrong as there is no pc/Mac option on the oxygen pro mini it’s automatic
Thanks for the video! I'd like to see more on looping and pad use with the Oxygen mini. I'm new to controllers, DAW's, and piano playing and trying to learn it all at the same time. I see the Apex has a lot more videos out on these topics, but translating to the Oxygen has been a bit challenging.
Just got one, thanks for these tips! So I can’t figure out how to activate the pads related to the DAW. Looks like you should be able to set the knobs to sends, vs pan etc.
HI, I bought the m audio oxygen pro 61, but the faders and buttons play, rec... are not work in Logic Pro. I don't know what to do. Could you help me? thanks.
Did you follow the set up instructions in the user manual? Make sure you select the correct computer type and then select PT as your daw type. Not sure why they have it set up that way but you don’t actually select logic as your daw. I hope this helps.
Good to know; I plan to buy this mini keyboard to get a mobile rig and make music everywhere, so it’s good to know how it will integrate with Logic Pro. I’m checking all mini keyboards (NI M32, Akai MPK, Arturia, you name it…) and yet this Oxygen Pro Mini looks like a great compromise to have pads, knobs, faders, DAW transport control and mod wheels. So thanks for the info in this video. Cheers
Thanks Thomas for your videos! I have a big isuue controlling the small Korg NTS 1 synth. There's a note stuck after a while when playing fast and I'm obliged to push the Stop transport button to stop it! Anybody knows how to deal with it?
*Complete Beginner* Just followed all the steps to set up the Oxygen Pro Mini with Logic that are listed on M-Audios site, all the buttons and knobs on the console work yet when I go to add a new software instrument as instructed I get no sounds from my keys or pads any tips?
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Do you know if the pads can be used to trigger clips in Logic’s Live looping. I imagine this can be set up the tedious way, by mapping midi control one by one but wonder if it might be auto setup when choosing Logic from the DAW options. Hope that makes sense!
Thanks for the tutorial! I have the same issue with Pan. It only moves about half of the pan in UI, although I moved the hardware pan in Oxygen Pro Mini. Do you have any suggestion?
Hey Michael, I have an iPad Pro 2018 with usb C and it worked pretty well. There was no daw control or fader support but everything else worked well. I do imagine that if you have an iPad with the lightning connector then you would probably need a powered usb hub but it does work with the more recent usb c iPads. Cheers!
How finely can the fader be adjusted? For example, 1 2 3 4 55 56 57. Can I use it to write orchestras, can I adjust Ixpresion Vibrato level at the same time? thank you
You can get pretty fine adjustments on the fader if you just move it slowly. It works well with native instruments. It doesn’t work as well as the NI M32, so you can’t control all the parameters with it unless you program it.
Thanks for the valuable info. Would you know how to turn the lights off on the pads. It seems like it can be done when I read the manual but I can't seem to make it happen.
Hey Mark, I’ve been trying to figure this out for you and the only way I’ve been able to figure this out is by using the preset editor and making a custom preset. Basically load up the preset editor with your controller plugged in and click on the pads one by one and select off as the color and then go to file and send to controller and it’ll reflect the changes as soon as you hit send. I hope this helps!
Unfortunately not. It’s just a controller and doesn’t have any sounds built in. You may be able to use it with an iPad. I’ll do some experimenting with that soon.
Yes 100%. Unless portability is your main concern then the akai might be a better option. But the m audio isn’t that much bigger and gives you way more features.
I have only used it with logic but it comes with ableton live lite, so I’d be happy to experiment with it for you. I’ve heard with the latest firmware update that it works really well with ableton.
Cool! Thanks for it.I have one question:I always use Marker to control my music.I noticed that there is no other button to control Marker, just like go to next Marker or pervious Marker. Is there any good solution to Control Marker. Thanks a lot.
I would personally, assign a couple of the pads under the key commands settings in logic to do that. If you are using the pads often for drums, then you could assign some pads on a different bank and just practice switching pad banks.
Just bought this, 11 months after this video, and M-Audio still hasn't updated its setup advice (it still tells users to choose Mac or PC, an option that doesn't exist). Very disappointed in M-Audio, I gotta say. A real pity, because the keyboard is good, just close to impossible to get setup with Logic Pro.
Just got mine from Santa under the Christmas tree, can you believe it? My question is, is there any way to change the led under-light colors, or a demo mode I mean when the lights flashing around E.g. like when you turn the keyboard on and the lights run around the pads ?
The Native Instruments M32 probably has the best keybed for a mini keyboard but like I mentioned in my other video, a lot of people have issues with using that with logic. The DAW control didn't work at all for me with logic on the M32 and that's ultimately why I ended up getting the M audio oxygen pro mini instead of the M32.
@@ThomasRoscoeMusic Alright, thanks! I wanted to go for something with finger pads too, so the oxygen seems pretty neat. I am unsure whether to get the oxygen mini or the novation launchkey mk3 mini though
@@s3vva I was in the same boat but ended up choosing the M audio oxygen pro mini because from what I read, it had a more advanced scale and chord mode. But I would be really Interested in seeing a comparison between the 2.
After further experimenting, I was able to get chord mode to work with note repeat BUT I had to map chord mode to the pads and then it worked.
So how did you connect to your pc when mac or windows wasn't displayed in your globe thanks?
@@ianlee2836 it’s just an automatic connect. The keyboard knows what you are using.
Hii Could you do a full setup and tutorial for the Oxygen Pro Mini in Logic? Please! thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for answering my question about blinking tempo button. So glad it no longer blinks! I now fully set up mine.
You’re very welcome! I’m happy to help!
Excellent video! Super nice of you to help everyone. Your explanations are very clear. Thanks! 😺
Please do a full set up of the oxygen mini pro with logic pro x
