I'll have to check when I get back on my studio PC, but I think this is exactly what I needed. I'd downloaded the mapping software, but I couldn't find any instructions for using it, so this video really helped. I somehow messed up my Ableton controls and lost all the pretty colours on the pads, so it will be nice to fix it and customize the colours of the pads. Cheers!

Thank you for this overview, this was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to know how rich the preset editor is, whether I'll be disappointed with the options like I was with NI Komplete Kontrol M32 keyboard (otherwise OK keyboard), what can be assigned to MIDI events, etc. Because when I can assign tons of buttons or pads to Midi CC I have full control over my fate. I know this keyboard supports REAPER DAW integration, but with really customizable Midi CC I can trust that I can do more than is supported out of the box. Very good depth, thanks again.

Do you know can you disable Program change for Zones? I'd like to use this as a controller for my hardware midi synth boxes but my hardware sequencer is responsible for selecting the programs this should just able be to play the sounds when needed.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with the preset editor?
Whenever I open up the application, there is nothing showing up, kinda like a black screen.
I am as well, using mac big sur OS.

I can't seem to be able to get zones to work in my presets. I'd like for each preset to have a specific midi channel set for it. To do this, I'm enabling Zone 1, setting it to the desired channel and with the full key range. But it always just seems to use what the Global Channel is set to. Am I doing something wrong? A video exploring zones would be great!

Have a lot of problems connected to cubase 11 but the notes do other things in cubase in stead of playing the notes
My oxygen pro mini does not do anything with my cubase 10 pro !!! i also cannot understand what are CC, Makie, Hui etc and how to actually set one fader or knob in the preset editor for daw control ??

does not work, its stayed in Preset mode function.

Just to confirm, you're updating the DAW preset that is selected on the Oxygen Pro right? For example, select the P.T. DAW preset on the Oxygen Pro, in the preset editor click the Retrieve Preset option, make your change, and then Send Preset.
@@DSoundman Thanks for answering! Correct. The keyboard in Daw Mode. In the software I enter the DAW section and first "retrieve preset", apply changes, click on "Send Preset" and ... no changes
On the other hand, when doing this same process in the Preset Mode, the changes are applied. It's like the keyboard can't go into Daw Mode ...

Why doesn’t the M-Audio Oxygen Pro mini support Garage Band? I just connected my M-Audio Oxygen Pro mini and none of the transport or fader controls work with Garage Band.

I don't understand why, after I restart the computer, all my custom settings I created in the Editor App and sent to the Controller's RAM, are gone and the controller resets automatically to factory CC's etc. Super annoying. Bug?

I've been trying to set up a preset using the M-Audio Oxygen MKV Preset Editor on preset 1 to change my 8 drum pad buttons to C5-G5 instead of C3-G5. I'll retrieve preset 1, change all the CC values on the drumpads to the higher octave, then save the preset, then send it to the controller and absolutely nothing is changing on my controller? Has anybody experienced this and can help? I have the Oxygen49 MKV
Hi, Thanks for this video. I got my oxygen pro 25 a week ago and every time I start on it I completely lose track of time 😀. I have an old MacBook Air running Logic Pro. The DAW preset for Logic Pro looks like it doesn’t do anything as it’s only basic Mackie/HUI emulation so there is no substantial DAW control. In fact, the quick start guide tells us to use the “P.T.” (ProTools) preset. I must say that’s quite disappointing, especially if you compare with the Logic DAW control available in something low budget like the Novation Launchkey Mini. Anyway, I started trying to do a custom DAW preset and playing around with the Logic “Learn” feature for surface controls. After many hours, I got something slightly better than the ProTools preset, but still not great. Do you have an idea whether M-Audio plans to provide better DAW control at some later stage?

I've got an OXYGEN49 MKV unit. The Preset Editor offers much less than the one for the 25 model. Very disappointing. No DAW button??? The pads offer only CHAN & NOTE settings??? No access to the transport buttons. Why did they make this one so limited?

In the Pad configuration Mode there are several options, including Note, Program, CC etc...
There's also an option called Zone, does anyone know what that option does?

Ok, by this series I got the Oxygen Pro 61 but now I have the question, Is possible to use the Pads 9 - 11 as hot key? is on the config but that doesn't work in the practice, you allways get the same HUI code

Can you load a specific preset on startup? Every time I start up my Oxy25 I have to load my preferred presets with the preset editor. Or did I miss something somewhere?
I have also been asking around on other tutorials. I have my main preset setup as the first one to at least limit scrolling, but I would love my default to just come through on powering up.
Thanks for the great tutorial! Is there any way to set a whole bunch of controls at once? For example, I'd like to change the colors of the pads to all the same color. Do I have to do them one by one? I have an old Korg PadKontrol and it lets you make a single change like color or midi channel to "all" (pads). Can this be done on the Oxygen?

Hi, thanks for all your informative videos about the Oxygen Pro 25 and Pro Tools set up! I purchased the Oxygen Pro 25 last week.
I have a problem with using the included virtual instruments 'Hybrid 3' and 'Velvet' within Pro Tools 2020.12. After installing them, they both show and can be used as a standalone instrument, and both work with the Oxygen Pro 25 in that setting. However, neither of them show up in Pro Tools (DAW mode) when I try to select them as an Instrument insert.
Do they show up in Pro Tools for you? If so, is there anything you can advise me to do in order to get them to show up? I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as deleting Pro Tools preferences and rescanning all plugins.
Thanks Douglas (great name btw)! So let me make sure I’m understanding correctly. You create a new stereo instrument track in Pro Tools, go to the insert, and add a multichannel plug-in > Instrument. It’s there you don’t see Hybrid or Velvet? I just tried those exact steps on mine and I see them. Are those the steps you took?
@@DSoundman Yes, great names indeed! :-) Yes that's exactly what I am doing, but they are not there. That's interesting that you can see them. I'm not sure why I can't. It shows all the other Air Instruments that came pre-installed with Pro Tools, but not those ones.

I've noticed that my Pro Mini has 4 banks yet the editor has only 2 banks. Any thoughts?

Do you know anything about making the pads toggle between the two colors when sending CCs? I'm trying to program the pads to turn sound effects on and off with the color as reference but the color change only seems to function as momentary. There's a toggle mode for Note signals but that doesn't seem to toggle the color either.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!

Hey I just got the 61 and got the editor but every time I open it the screen is just all white. I have it plugged in to the computer, and I know the cable and adapter work since im using it through MainStage and its working.

Hey Soundman thanks for the very instructive video! Do you know if the oxygen pro's pad can receive midi note as well and change color accordingly ? In the same way as the Launchkey does... I would love to program the pad to act like novation's midi keyboard and hope that M audio introduces this functionality in the future...
I watched a review of Oxygen Pro vs Launchkey and the guy said if Ableton is what you do, get the launchkey. It was created to integrate way more deeply into Ableton than anything else, just like when the Launch Pad first launched. It's the nature of choosing between them. Oxygen Pro is a better all-arounder for multiple DAWs. Launchkey by far is better integrated into Ableton and can't really be duplicated by other controllers, even with editing, but is terrible with Pro Tools, FL Studio, etc.

I enjoy all of your videos. But I'm very much a novice, when it comes to using music production software. I recently purchased an M-AUDIO Oxygen Pro 25 Key Station. Then I downloaded MPC beats and the Oxygen Pro 25 Preset Editor. I set the DAW on the keyboard to MPC and then opened the Oxygen Pro 25 Preset Editor and retrieved the DAW Preset. So Far so good. In the editor I see a variety of the Oxygen Pro 25 keyboard controls mapped to various CC Controller Messages. All those message are using channel 1. Now is where my confusion and frustration comes into play. Inside of MPC Beats the only keyboard controls that cause any kind of response are Play and Stop. Inside of MPC Beats when I press another control on the keyboard like >> or
As an akai mpk249 and nektar lx25+ owner this makes me jealous af! Why don't all midi controller keyboards come with some decent basic software like this w a picture of my keyboards/controls and then a box of settings! I almost got the MAudio pro 49 instead of the akai mpk249, this makes me kinda wish I wld have just saved the extra $150 the akai cost....

I think Preset Mode had bug,I made a Preset for assignable zones and send preset for oxygen pro,oxygen pro select this preset,but didn't had any reaction
Any luck on getting zones to work? I set up a few different presets where each had one zone mapped the entire keyboard range but with different midi channels. What I'm seeing is that when I flip back and forth between these presets, the midi channel is not changing. If I go in and edit it on the keyboard (sort of set the channel again), then it will switch.

Bu how do you customize a preset and then ACTUALLY USE IT? Less talk, more rock, my Dude. Every time I change the CC data parameters and go to "file" "send preset" it doesn't work with my DAW. I don't get it.
Does it work with MPC beats?
If you got MPC Beats with the controller (I did with the Pro 49), one of the DAW set-ups already built in to the keyboard is for MPC, and the keyboard will automatically switch to MPC mode when you boot up the Akai App, meaning the pads and transport controls should work straight out of the box. The MPC preset works pretty well with most other DAWs too, since it's kind of standard to have the first drum pad assigned to the same note as C1 on the keyboard, and every DAW would use Play and Stop buttons.
My quick controls setting was perfect until I watched this video and started tweaking in hope of being able to customize more controls with this midi keyboard... but its now completely messed up and my default pad color and of course the fader controls and everything else is not gonna be the same... Im not blaming this video but M-audio is such a bad company for advertising DAW integration
Sorry for your troubles! If you need to, you can do a factory reset on the controller by holding the two octave buttons while turning the board on. Just keep in mind this will do a full reset.
@@DSoundman I did a research but cold not find exact manual or forum page. Finally I've got an answer for how to factory reset the keyboard as well from another person on Amazon real quick while I was requesting support from M-Audio lol. UA-cam and Amazon comments for life! M-Audio should have documented those faqs in the first place. Thank you sir.
