  • Get your hands on a TRP and put it through the paces yourself. You won’t be disappointed. At an MSRP of $1,648, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than that classic auto you’ve been looking at and it might even be more fun to drive.

    This is the gun that started my love affair with the 1911. My TRP Stainless has been serving me well for 6 or 7 years. Now I own and carry 4 1911’s.

    Got my new stainless TRP in 2012. The trigger, combat night sights, 20 lines of checkering, quality, bang for the buck, accuracy .... outstanding. Works for me.

    Bought this same exact model a year ago, ran about 1000 rounds thru it, love this gun, I run mine well oiled. I changed out the full length guide rod with a Wilson recoil spring and gi recoil guide rod. Much easier for maintaining. Wilson 8 round 47d magazines run perfect.

      Are there any performance differences between the full length and GI guide rod? And what about the reliability?

    Have owned many 1911's. My TRP is, by far, the most accurate & reliable of them all. It puts the Colt Gold Cup models that I have owned to shame. 1&1/2" groups, POA, at 25 yards, all day long!

    I had this gun and traded it. It's one of the biggest regrets I have, regarding guns. To get cool, expensive, new guns, sometimes you have to part with something good. My plan was to buy back my stainless TRP Loaded, once I replenished my funds; but someone beat me to the punch. Mine was from the first year the model was released. The Springfield Custom shop was heavily involved with the early TRP's; and that gun held it's own in bench rest contests with my shooting buddies, who owned 1911's from the Mount Rushmore brands: Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Nighthawk Custom and Ed Brown. With it's 10-8 Performance, polished recoil spring plug and a stunning set of Elk antler stocks from Grashorn Grips, it looked as great as it performed.

    Miss the old rollmarks. Some people found it obnoxious, but I think the old Springfield Armory Rollmarks were much more proportional

      I agree.. Don't know where that whole "make the rollmarks as tiny as possible" fad came from but probably came from 1911 weirdos.. Looks silly! Glad to see Colt still makes real man guns with real 1911 roll mark sizes.

    I have the black model, the aggressive front/rear straps are for if you were wounded in battle with blood dripping down your hands, that would allow you to have a better grip on your gun and prevent the gun from slipping off your hands.

    Bought a TRP in standard around 4 years ago. Black armorykote. The TRP is on both sides of the slide in the back of pistol. I assume the one in the video might be a newer model. Also on slide (mag release) side forward says M1911-A1 Tactical underneath on frame. Didn't really care for the 2 piece full length guide rod so went GI with flat wire recoil spring. 10-8 plug. Never regret the mods. Chewing up any ammo I run from hard ball to lighter critical defense. Springfield makes fine 1911s but this one is outstanding.

    I love mine, but the front checkering was TOO aggressive for my tastes, it left my fingers sore and a bit shredded after shooting. I just knocked the tips off with a fine mill file and now it's perfect. Love my TRP

    A cool fact is that in the 90s a company here in Brazil called Imbel produced the 1911 models for Springfield Armory, and therefore, for the FBI. Imbel is famous for making cold hammer forged barrels and this company has nothing to do with Taurus. I have a Imbel M911A1 im 45ACP that is virtually the same as the 1911 Mil-Spec model

    Has anyone had trouble with hollow point ammo misfeeding in this pistol? The only JHP ammo I've found to be reliable is Federal HST. Winchester Ranger T-Series rounds stovepipe about 2 times per box in my experience. Of course FMJ hardball works all day. Otherwise, this is a really fine pistol.

    The problem with this gun is the fragility of that satin finish. I've never known a weapon that marred or scratched more easily.

    16 and a half is pretty expensive to me for 1911. You can get anothewr good one for 1/2 of that. Sounded like a S/A infomercial.

  • @nonyabiz9487
    @nonyabiz9487 2 роки тому

    Eh.. The TRP is a little too expensive for what you get. For the same price I would rather get the Dan Wesson which in my opinion is a better fit and finished gun. Plus the Dan Wessons dont have those ugly scribbled digits inside the frame and slide like the Springfield does. Instead they have the serial numbers printed properly inside the guns. Like I said way better gun for the same price or get the Loaded which is the same gun minus some silly features for $800 less.
