craig daub I'm more affiliated with the beliefs innate to Hermetiscm myself, but to be fair these belief systems share a lot of traits and are highly correlated. A fair bit of the Bible was derived from the beliefs of Alchemy/Hermetiscm and similar belief systems. For example the Bible, in the Lord's Prayer from Mathew 6:10 states: "Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. Set the world right; Do what's best - as above, so below." The more commonly and casually used translation of this is "on earth, as it is in heaven". Which was directly derived from a passage from the Emerald Tablet stating "as above, so below".

Its quite synchronistic this now. I've been reading Dreams by Carl Jung, and the exact chapter I'm on is on alchemy! I'm sure peterson has read it.
Really instresting hearing Hermes being described it this way. I haven't heard American speak in these way since Joesph Campbell.
