The impressive thing is that he played this at an outdoor festival, in the afternoon, and yet the crowd were still enthralled and silent. It is pretty rare to be able to capture a crowd at a festival with a slow and intimate piece like this, and yet Jeff pulls it off with applomb. An incredible musician.
I was thinking the same thing. The universal love for this great song is evident whenever anyone performs it. One of the most beloved songs ever written.
@@DrAdams-fx6gy I was saying it explains why they were enthralled and silent. Japanese crowds are notoriously reserved and polite. Western musicians have to adjust they’re expectations because it’s off putting at first
I was lucky enough to be there and my mind/heart were blown away.... This was right after the housing bubble burst, people lost homes, jobs and more.... His choice and timing were impeccable as well as his playing. I also appreciate his Rat Rod history of building his own cars after meeting many of the Rat Rod kids of California. Big Oil sucks hard but the genius of those hot rodders can't be denied anymore than Jeff's playing and touch can be..... R.I.P. Jeff Beck I only wish I'd seen you play a full show somewhere proper..... ❤❤❤
Yes, he makes mistakes, he plays freely, he experiments even on stage. He's not perfect. But who else can make guitar sing like he does? His playfullness and freedom is what makes him the most inspiring player for me.
I wrote this post before he passed. I still can't believe that he's gone. Way too sudden - way too soon. I never had the opportunity to see him live and I was hoping to in the upcoming year, since he was performing live with Johnny Depp so regularly. It looked like they would be coming to the NYC area in the near future. My heart goes out to Johnny Depp. It appears that they were very close. It's just a tragedy - a life cut way too short, way too suddenly. Devastating....
Jeff Beck died today. 🎸 May he feel the outpouring of our respect, appreciation, and love as he journeys across the bridge to somewhere over the rainbow. 💐
I was at the venue at this time. The beautiful guitar tone melted into the sky. JEFF, I'm sad that you passed away.So so sad. Thanks for the great guitar playing. You are forever. R.I.P
No other guitaritst ever had such command over his instrument! Pure feel. Jeff could do more with one note than most other players can do with a million. Brilliant, genius at the highest level. If this dont make you cry, your dead!!!!!!!!
Rest in tonal peace great one. The giants of our youth are leaving slowly, yet too quickly. Gonna listen to Blow by Blow and just think on his greatness.
Jeff is a real musican.
@secondfiddle I am 56 years old. Back in the Day when Jeff Started out he played a Les Paul Junior. I was in a rock band and always played Gibsons. He was my Idol Guitar Player. Now I have a Fender Telecaster and a Les Paul Junior. Greatest Guitar Player of our Times! Eric Clapton takes a close 2nd. Luv them Both.
Jeff is a class act who I've seen again in NYC finally after 50 years. The first time was in Central Park at what was then The Schaffer Beer Concerts for 75 cents a ticket and he had Rod Stewart singing at that time. This last show was just awe inspiring and you can sense his passion for the music. He is truly humble about his talent. My wife even liked the show. Anyway when it comes to Strats , Jeff is the man.
He was 62 when he recorded this. He will be 67 in June and still playing incredibly well for a musician of any age. His musical evolution since the Yardbirds has been a marvel to experience.
This is where I get to type the fact that hearing this is bliss and Jeff Beck's guitar playing is extraordinary, never fails to give me goose bumps. Such a breath of fresh air after so much of the stuff I hear these days.
Music is emotion. Nothing more, nothing less. Emotion translated into sound. Beck understands this better than anyone else, and forces you to FEEL what this song is about in your heart and soul. Awesome!
The master. Nobody combines innate musicality with such an astounding technique. I saw him close with this in Liverpool 2006 and was totally moved. In my opinion there is no one better.
I SAW JEFF ON THE FIRST SHOW OF THE AMERICAN LEG IN TAMPA.HE COPPED THE LAST NOTE BY DROPPING HIS GUITAR ON THE STAGE.RIGHT AT THE SAME MOMENT MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR.I'VE SEEN HIM 5 TIMES BEFORE AND HE GETS BETTER EVERY TIME.THE MASTER OF MASTERS.
World without Jeff might be colder place to live in. Every now and then I check his videos from here..and then feeling better. I hope guys keep posting. Thanks marks!
There's only a few musicians that make you just stop in your tracks to watch and listen in awe, and Jeff is one of them. Tommy Emmanuel is another. Anyone else?
Total genius here. NO ONE can play with the feel of this guy. Can do more with a few notes than most can with a million. See him while you can !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most people dont understand the Talent it takes to hold hundreds, if not thousands in your palm in utter silence. Jeff Beck, Neil Young, Among the few who could attract huge audiences, and leave them in utter silence. Thats Talent, Thats.... Amazing.
You quite often hear the saying someone can make their guitar talk , I've never heard it before now , but I've just heard jeff beck play somewhere over the rainbow and I heard his guitar sing every goddam word !!
I saw Jeff from about the 5th row at a small venue in Denver in 2007. He is just amazing. He did this song as well. Awesome to be able to see it again. Thanks
I still find it hard to believe that from one band called The Yardbirds came three extraordinary guitar players. Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. All three masters of the guitar yet all three completely different in style! The sounds that Jeff produces are pure emotion! I'm going to see him soon playing with the Imelda May Band. I am really looking forward to my first time seeing Mr. Beck live!
I can see you now ~ riding the orbs of color & tones ~ playing like a huge silky scarf draped over my generation ~ now I know where we'll all go ~ get our seats in the sky ~ at Beck's Place ~ 🕊️☮️🎸

They’re Japanese

R.I.P. Jeff Beck
Thank you ever so much for the music.
I can't imagine that this was an easy song to play; but as usual Jeff Beck nailed it. RIP o great one.
Jeff is the best non-pick using guitarist of all time. He can do it all, jazz, fusion, rock, metal, blues. NO ONE is better!
Somewhere over the rainbow, Jeff Beck flies…..fly high brother!!❤🌈RIP
The best 🎸 player ever 👍
You will be missed Jeff Beck
I am crushed by his passing. There's no one like him - will never be... RIP

UA-cam初期によく見ていた動画です。最後まで伝説でした。安らかに眠れ。
No one plays a melody on the guitar with such clarity and feeling as Jeff Beck. His ability to do this is bar none. Gives me chills…. ❤️

It will be 9 months soon and I'm still in a funk. It's so cruel his passing
RIP, Mr. Beck. There will never be another like you.
Jeff Beck died today. 🎸 May he feel the outpouring of our respect, appreciation, and love as he journeys across the bridge to somewhere over the rainbow. 💐
Beautiful comment. Thanks. 🌈

R.I.P Jeff..You made a huge mark in my love of rock and jazz music!!
Beck is the master ! No one else can do this stuff like him!
I was at the venue at this time. The beautiful guitar tone melted into the sky.
JEFF, I'm sad that you passed away.So so sad.
Thanks for the great guitar playing. You are forever. R.I.P
I've never seen or heard anyone show such mastery and confidence with a guitar. Thank you, Jeff Beck.
Damn, this is beautiful.
It hurts my soul that we lost such a great musician as Jeff Beck. The world is not as good of a place.
I totally agree...
I absolutely love how complete silence falls on the audience to listen to this masterpiece.
Only Japan can do it.
Jeff Beck is from above n he is there now
No other guitaritst ever had such command over his instrument! Pure feel. Jeff could do more with one note than most other players can do with a million. Brilliant, genius at the highest level. If this dont make you cry, your dead!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your amazing music. Rest Easy Mr. Beck.🙏

Guitar Angel! RIP Jeff Beck! Godspeed!
A true master of touch and tone on the electric guitar! Bravo!! RIP Jeff Beck!
Thank you Jeff! Honored to have shared space and time with you!
Rest in tonal peace great one. The giants of our youth are leaving slowly, yet too quickly. Gonna listen to Blow by Blow and just think on his greatness.
My fave is Wired 💚
it sings, it talks, it questions, it answers, IT SCREAMS, it cries, it lives, it dies, it flies to space, it flows with grace... it is JEFF BECK.
the master of volume swells! one of the hardest techniques.... his trademark also.... sounds like a flute, violin, trumpet thats jeff beck!
Jeff is a real musican.
Jeff Beck will always be my guitar favorite!!!
Me too
Just heard the news of his passing. Came to give this a listen. Somewhere over the rainbow I'm sure he's shredding a guitar

So glad I saw Jeff live. There is something very powerful about a gentle man.

Such a loss... 🙏🏼 The band in the clouds has some overwhelmingly great musicians to jam with now... 🙏🏼❤️✌🏼
So much heart, So much soul, the emotions are out of this world
Thanks Jeff!
You are simply the Best!!
He was 62 when he recorded this. He will be 67 in June and still playing incredibly well for a musician of any age. His musical evolution since the Yardbirds has been a marvel to experience.
one and only, who can make a guitar sing with almost a human voice. the music he created will live forever.

The Greatest guitar player ever.
RIP Jeff. You were a legend.
Nobody makes a guitar sing like Jeff Beck.
gary moore could
Joe Bones I agree, maybe Santana?
Wait, that's a guitar? ;) I've seen JB three times and each time has made me want to give up guitar because I could never be like him... :P
Something to notice about this piece is the way he uses the volume knob to get the swells. That's an art in itself.

how could anyone not give this 5 stars and be amazed at how skillful beck is!
There are only likes and dislikes on youtube and since your comment youtube murdered the dislike counter so they don't matter
A veces la guitarra puede lograr simular la vibración del alma y corazón humano cuando un recuerdo nos convierte en canción...
THE Sound….🙌🏼
My Favorite artist playing my Favorite tune of all time. So lovely. Jeff I thank you for years of enjoyment / astonishment. God bless.
Man, Jeff was way before his time... unbelievable he was booed from stage in the 60's... no one booing now... just an amazing guitarist... God Bless.
World without Jeff might be colder place to live in. Every now and then I check his videos from here..and then feeling better. I hope guys keep posting. Thanks marks!

Total genius here. NO ONE can play with the feel of this guy. Can do more with a few notes than most can with a million. See him while you can !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took for granted the time I saw Beck and Rod Stewart...1969 awesome forever.
Beyond brilliant. It'll be a sad day indeed when we lose this man.

Nobody does whammy bar harmonics like Jeff!
Just...amazing. And beautiful.
Jeff - i hope we will meet you then somewhere over the rainbow, when my gilr and me will be together forever..... you are the greatest
One of the greatest artists that ever lived.
Just brings tears to my eyes
His right hand technique with that volume knob and tremelo is amazing.
God! the sound of that guitar .... moves to me infinitely!!!!!!
God he does this song justice! As only he can! Beautiful!
Most people dont understand the Talent it takes to hold hundreds, if not thousands in your palm in utter silence. Jeff Beck, Neil Young, Among the few who could attract huge audiences, and leave them in utter silence. Thats Talent, Thats.... Amazing.
Pure magic from the hands of the master!

Good bless and keep you and yours! What a blessing you are!
Jeff was the best that ever played.
If a musician's music moves you ......well then that's all that counts......
Well done Sir Beck.....
I've played for over 45 years, there's always someone cleaner, faster, "louder".
Listen to Jeff's soul.....................
This performance is beyond words.
One of the most expressive musicians to have ever lived.
A cool rendition of an old classic...with the Jeff Beck twist. You could tell by the crowds reaction, they appreciated his talent. Great Job!!!
Goosebumps! What a player.
