I know right, a lot of the animations from games like empire earth and Aoe 3 are better than some of the stuff in 4. The art style doesn't help either but there's so many junky melee animations that sort of stop the combat for a second

@@JJJBunney001so basically to summarize what you said and add a little extra what you are referring to is the modern simplistic style they try to make everything as basic and straight lined as possible because it saves time and money back then on aoe1 or 2 and even 3 even pressing a single button felt like you did something satisfying with incredibly detailed art style that follows but now it’s the opposite unfortunately

I think it’s really lame that this game units do not have side arms in age 3 if ranged units were attacked they’d switch into melee side arms. Wich made you prioritize protecting them better and ment cav charges would be more devastating. Added a much better layer of tactics to the game. Age 4 is kinda lame battles are decided by pure numbers and units base stats.

aoe2 is great I won't lie. if aoe2 is 8.5 out of 10 I'd say aoe4 is a 9. Both are great.
