In India there are different types of healthcare, for rich, middleclass and poor. But poor people also get affordable healthcare. Same cannot be said about UK. I broke my toes while in UK and I was paying for insurance, so I should have got all checkup done free of cost. Waiting time was 3-4hrs, X-Ray took another hour, appointment with doctor after 2 days, surgery was scheduled after 3 weeks. For a week I walked with broken toes, but could not bear the pain(no pain meds). So took a flight, came to my hometown, got appointment with doc at 8AM and surgery was done at 3PM same day. Entire expenditure was less than 19k rupees and I went to a non-fancy private hospital.
But the thing is you can also get scammed as a foreigner or as a NRI. If they find out... They cost you much more charge. For example once we came in India in March 2021 in covid. We had our vaccines at the airport in India. And when we were about to leave from India we got a covid PCR test don't before hand and the rest came out negative. But just a day before when we were about to leave we got a call from government people saying that your test actually was incorrect for my mum and her test came out positive. We were confused and immediately went to the lab and got out the test printed out. And whilst my dad went out to get those test results. The government people were already there to do a test on my mum. I told them to wait outside the door until my dad comes back with the test paper . And when he did he showed them the test paper and argued with them how can you show negative just a day before And call the next day saying it's positive. I believe they were trying to scam us into making the test positive when they came to our house to test my mum. Good thing we didn't let them or they would've altered the test hence keeping us behind longer.
Finally!!! Indian healthcare getting the recognition it deserves!!! India might lack alot of things but healthcare is not one of it!! Cheap yet superior heath care system thats better than developed countries!!

@@WR-NC-ASPL i get this. But I don't think you know the cost of treatment in America our govt hospitals cost almost nothing. Not at all so clear-cut although this video makes a few valid points- the USA system is notorious for its profit-motive compared to most Western ones and most Indians still cannot afford these private healthcare systems so it is comparing apples to oranges.
@mohi024 Cheap Medical Tourism again does not serve the Indian masses - it makes profits for companies and benefits better-off foreigners. Furthermore, the Indian government is desperate to brain-drain India of qualified doctors by sending 2,000 of them to help fill gaps in the NHS here in the UK.
My friend in Australia, aged abt 52 , has a kidney issue, his earliest possible appointment with a nefrologist is 10 months away, in Hyderabad India we can walk into a specialist’s consulting room per our choice, that’s when my eyes opened
That's cause the doctors are taught to be public servants/ social workers first. My cousin is a doctor, quite reputable in his city. When I asked why you chose it, he said "when people come back & tell me, they're now in relief.. that makes my soul happy & motivates to do so again & better."
@Phynix72 My cousin is a vice principal of a pvt medical college. In Kerala, consultation charges are less. Around 10 years back, renewal is once a month. He used to call the patients before completing 30 days so the poor could save the consultation fee. In India also treatment is fast, but high-end pvt hospitals drain an average Indian of his wealth
What in the actual fuk ! Your friends needs to wait 10 months for a kidney treatment ! In India, your friend could've consulted 10 different kidney specialists (nephrologists) in less than 10 hours 😂

Canadian here who would 110% travel to India if I had “non emergency” surgery that was affecting my life that I could get there. Like if I was waiting 18+ months like we do here for a hip replacement in Canada!!! Our emergency services are “ok” when it’s a REAL emergency, like a heart attack but our emergency rooms are packed often and wait times for anything non emergency is long.
@@_wokeweaklingscryoverwords_ I mean, I wouldn’t pay a red penny in Canada. But I might wait 18 months. I might not be able to WORK for 18 months straight if I did some job like postal delivery. So it might be well worth the cost which would also have to factor in travel to get there. I could see it costing around $10,000. But for peace of mind, faster treatment, it could definitely be worth it. I did have surgery there last year but I didn’t travel there specifically for it, more like it came up as a more urgent issue while I was there, for something I originally was going to get done in Canada. So we just bit the bullet and had it done. Cost around $1000 US, for orthopaedic surgery but nothing as complicated as a hip replacement. It was a small incision and a hardware removal situation. I have seen many Doctors here in Canada Looking down on Indian Doctors. With One specialist doctor after a 10 minute conversation she realized that the Indian Doctor that my Uncle's family in India go to came as a guest Lecturer here in Canada and she knows him. The Doctors in India are highly Knowledgeable specifically in the big Hospitals
Not only in big hospitals even if you go to any small hospital i prefer govt hospitals their facilities are not that good but doctors are all at same level because you need to study atleast 10 years to become a doctor and have to give super hard exams just to get in a med college
Indian doctors are highly experienced in short time due to our population. Though we can't say that we have the best healthcare system due to lack of doctors in India. As mentioned by WHO there has to be 1000 person for one doctor but in India's case it's around 1200 person for a doctor.

It’s not just about technology. In usa you might have to wait for weeks to months before your turn to see doctor comes for opd visit. By that time it could be that your issue might have resolved by themselves. There are both pros and cons to this. Doctor gets to spend about half an hour hearing and discussing with you in visit but at the cost of long waiting time.
Indians are blessed with very affordable health care system. There are many doctors who collect just 100 to 300 (indian rupees)for a high quality service. we are not intimidated by insurance and high health care cost. Like our precious body organs we fail to realise how precious our health care system is. If improved for better it will unparalled in any part of the world. I'am not under medical care. But I praise whole heartedly about the service doctors offer despite small hiccups
There are even some government doctors who have completely free private practice at home. My neurologist was like that. The travel, tests and medicines was the only cost we had to worry about.
I guess it varies from place to place. I live in a metro city and here a normal consultation would cost u around 1000-1500 and if u include the medicines it's somewhere around 2-3k per visit..!

that is only for rich and privileged. For poor which makes 90 percent of India, there are long lines no home service, unhygienic and somehow running equipment and infrastructure. The price is cheap comparatively to other countries, but many doctors try to sell medicine from their partner companies which are more costly compared to government incentivised medicine. And many villages don't even have doctors in health centre.
@@supersaiyan460that is advertised but in my state only medicines are free and equipment test cost is still charged. And to acquire these free service we need to apply giving what not details and time. Many poor who don't have idea don't get such service
I get all mh treatment done in India. It's just so much better than anywhere else, it's at a very good price, and the care is top quality. The doctors seem much more knowledgable, and show a concern for the patient rather than being a robot.
I was just telling my close relatives in the US that with their US money, they can get the highest quality care immediately in India, with appointment to top surgeons for consultation. I just read an article that the urgent care system in the US is doing a critical mistake of re-evaluating the primary care provider’s decision of sending them to the ER (ICU in India), which can cost one’s life. This is happening due to corporate greed in America. Even an American doctor has written that he was conned in being charged $1500 for an X-ray instead of $500, as the urgent care center claimed itself as part of a bigger hospital system and charged the higher hospital charges. Health care, especially for senior people in America will “kill you” if you have any major health problems or need home care. You are finished. That is why lot of American citizens of Indian origin come back to India post retirement.
ER is not ICU in India. If you are taking about urgent care, you most probably meant 'Casuality'. Urgent care is either Casuality/Emergency ward in India
Everything is corporate in America. India also has. cOrporate hospitals but with a high human value especially for small children. Highly qualified Drs are there n India. I am so happy, i live n India.
There are all kinds of medical services for the rich, middle class and the poor. A close relative of mine had to stay in a government hospital for close to a month because of a critical medical condition. You know what the bill amount was? It was just Rs.2000/-. For people Below Poverty Line, it is just a few hundred rupees. They only had to pay for hospital room charges, everything else like food, medicines, doctor consultation etc., was basically free. And I cannot praise enough about the way the hospital maintained utmost cleanliness.
A simple kidney stone test cost a total of $18k, and my out-of-pocket expense was $1.8k. All they needed to do was a CT scan, but they also took blood and urine tests. I avoided the IV painkiller. The doctor recommended the IV because, if the stone was big, they could operate. The CT scan showed the stone was 3mm. Despite this, they prepared for an operation, which is why the blood tests were done. In the end, they only prescribed a painkiller, and I was still charged $1.8k. Fked up US health care system.
Indian healthcare is amazing , i had a very critical surgery last year oct should have costed around 12-14 lakhs but got it done for free , it’s time demanding though and people don’t really have that kind of time because they usually get diagnosed too late or the bigger tests like scans have very long waiting period which is I believe one of the greatest problem of govt hospitals , as for me i was able to afford my scans at regular intervals at private hospitals and hence the smoothness in my treatment . God bless AIIMS i hope everyone gets the required treatment they deserve!

Being Indian and living in USA, I would India health care system is the best. Doctors are priority oriented than the appointment in US. You don't need an appointment to see a doctor, you can walk in and wait till your turn. If there is an emergency, even the housekeeping guy can understand that and take you to the right direction to the treatment room. The Nurses are more capable in handling the patients, they can understand situation very well and their presence mind is amazing. Most doctors are available in person 24X7. Doctors are treated as GOD in India. My Brother-in-law heart surgery completed with $1000 with Govt issued insurance.
This is true, I have seen health care of 2 to 3 other much higher per capita countries and identified that Indian health care system is easily accessible, faster with no weeks of waiting time and also economic. My wife diagnosis with Anemia could not get dose where I took her, had it been India, should could have got from any nearby clinic.
Get insurance and go to good hospitals. It's really not that difficult. I have insurance and got great treatment in a private hospital during Covid. @@positivekumar3546 Actually there is an option where the hospital contacts the insurance to pay and the areas and the amount covered will also be available to the hospital, so they will inform us of the rest of the amount to pay. When you earn 1500 Rs per hour in US , and In India most people earn 200 - 1000 rs in a day . You can understand how high the cost is for Indians for medical tests to surgeries which costs lakhs.
If only is was so simplistic. USA high cost is actually from unnecessarily high administrative cost, which is caused by their infuriating 'private health insurance companies' which forces hospitals hire a lot more of staff and take up more time of doctors, on top of which many cheap alternative which insurance refuse to cover and also having high premiums. My friend in Australia, aged abt 52 , has a kidney issue, his earliest possible appointment with a nefrologist is 10 months away, in Hyderabad India we can walk into a specialist’s consulting room per our choice, that’s when my eyes opened
in 10month they can do only post mortem. once kidney failed it will kill within 2 days.
That's cause the doctors are taught to be public servants/ social workers first. My cousin is a doctor, quite reputable in his city. When I asked why you chose it, he said "when people come back & tell me, they're now in relief.. that makes my soul happy & motivates to do so again & better."

@@vaishakviswam1970 Which specialist doctor would want to move to and live in a village? Anywhere in the world you have to go to the nearest town or city for specialist doctors. Unnecessary illogical whining.
@@locusstandi8329 are you living in some parallel universe? People who died without and negligence of treatment is huge. I have seen many number of such cases. If I can see so many then how about whole of India?Better don't lie with full confidence.
SUPER, Thankful for Positive Feedback & Testimonial👏👌👌👌🥰🇮🇳🙏
It’s true. I am a doctor at India. There are lot of patients coming to us from Australia and Western countries and feeling more satisfied with Healthcare System here. Thanks Wion for talking on this topic
It's not like praising indias', more like busting US'😂🤣
*She knows half reality of Indian healthcare system* 😅😅😅

Our government hospitals are pretty good, so is the medical insurance policies here ... compared to US

@@vivekkparashar I've gone gov Hospital multiple times for skin infection but the treatment wasn't got good there and i also got free medicine but as I told you that treatment was not got good as I expected as well as there was so rush at the hospital.. That's why I hate to go thereeee!!!!!

That's the thing , the population problem....
You can't blame medical facilities for that , also sometimes even in private hospitals the treatment from one doctor won't work and we have to change hospitals.
My cousin was getting treatment for thyroid in venkatesh hospital in Delhi but he was not satisfied with the result ...then he went to medanta and consult with the expert there .
He liked medanta more , so not getting satisfaction of treatment in any hospital happens pretty often .
Healthcare facility in India is truly amazing, even Indians understand that when we come abroad..
Dear, it is not the same everywhere in India. She was in Kerala at that time. She shared her experiences when she was in Kerala.
Indian health care doctor is no 1. People from all over the world come to India for treatment and any disease can be cured.🇮🇳🇮🇳🕉️🕉️🙏🙏 Hare Krishna
i wish this facility comes down to our remote areas in india as well.
people living in city can only avail this facility , while in rural areas it is difficult
That's difficult, not just in india but in any country it will be difficult to have specialist hospitals in every village of the country. The aim should be basic healthcare facilities in every village, and world class specialist treatment in the nearest city.

Proud to be an Indian
Nah you are proud to be a Rich indian..
Average indian have very small salary jobs
People who are saying that indian healthcare is cheap but they don't know that US per capita income is 20times that India's. For people who earn only 300-400Rs 14$(1100rs) is expensive for them. And for big surgeries like 2lakh-4lakh they can't afford it!
Indian doctor's and our hospital are the best in our world.🇮🇳✌️
India in next few years going to be world hospital for sure 😊

Indian healthcare system is amazing for middleclass American and foreign tourists not for native middleclass Indians.
Indian Healthcare is all about humanity, responsiveness, and making patient's already stressful life much easier. ❤
