A mortician is actually similar to aesthetician in some ways! Their job is to treat the body and make them look the way they did when they were alive. If you choose to embalm the body (a process that involves soaking the body in chemicals that basically stops the decay process and preserves the body as is), a mortician will do that, and then get the body ready for viewing at a wake. They will sew the eyes and mouth closed so they don’t open during a viewing, and they actually do use special makeup and use photos of the person to make sure they look as much like they did in life as possible, so loved ones can see them as they remember them, in a put together, and peaceful way which can help in providing closure. Especially if someone died in a traumatic way, a mortician’s job is basically to reconstruct the body to make them look more alive and normal and cover up any physical signs of trauma, so family and friends can remember their loved one as normal and at peace. They’re specially trained on how to treat the body and handle those chemicals safely, and they dress and arrange the body in the casket. Not everyone chooses to embalm the body, some cultures and religions don’t really allow it, in which case, you usually cannot view the body, and you must have the burial almost immediately after death because of the decaying process. A mortician will probably still be involved, but they will have a lot less to do. A lot of people choose to embalm the body so they can view them and say goodbye if their passing was sudden and unexpected, and to give people time to travel for the wake and/or funeral. I recently lost my uncle, he passed very unexpectedly from a heart attack, we didn’t even know about all the health problems he had that lead up to it, so no one had any idea something like that was likely to happen. We found out because his sister called us to tell us he died in the middle of the night before in the hospital. His daughters decided to embalm him, it was so unexpected, no one was with him when he died, and no one had the chance to say goodbye, and it allowed some of our family to travel from other parts of the country to see him and go to the funeral. Of course it was extremely difficult still, but I have a lot of respect for morticians and what they do for families to bring closure and honor their loved one when they lose someone.
Benevolent means good basically, it’s the opposite of malevolent. Ma-carb is how’s it pronounced and mortician is somebody who works in a morgue preparing bodies etc
I thought the same thing. Benevolent blessing is basically a guardian angel who watches out for the living vs a malevolent spirit who causes harm or fear to the living.
Mortician is taking care of the 'beauty' pieces of death - recreating the image they had in life in death as well, so they do your loved ones makeup and hair to make them look as much like they did in life for their final ceremony. (This does not mean they are a coroner or medical director, however. It is different depending on the state and agency you work for.)
Even then its a silly trait, this make sense irl because we cant confirm the existence of aliens or ghosts, but in the the game universe they literally receive phone calls from the dead to go the bar.
@@augusto7681 that's not the point, the point is how much it affects the gameplay (well, imo). I think it would be fun to make a skeptic sim meet all kinds of supernaturals and keep vehemently denying their supernaturality. Send them to the magic world, Sixam, etc. And after their home looks like a museum of magical and otherwordly knick-knacks, have them explain to their grandchildren that those are just novelty items, and no, grandma doesn't behave any differently during the full moon, they just watched too many cartoons.
I know this isn’t the point, but my grandpa doesn’t believe in ghosts but he believes in aliens and werewolves, but I feel like they should make an exception, like you don’t believe in all the supernatural but you only believe in one, or you don’t believe in the supernatural at all, (still sorry for this isn’t the point, I understand what you getting at!)
@@Lila-ie1eo Thats my point, pretend they dont believe in supernatural is just a moodlet, it doesnt impact gameplay. It would be different if for example no sims could see ghosts, but sims with a special trait can interact with them. Or if the "supernatural chaser trait" make these sims have more compatibility with occults.
Mortician is like an undertaker. I can't wait to see the reborn thing, it will really make legacy play meaningful for me. Just hope they maintain memories and skills
Hey Satch, idk if this is the right comment section to post this but, I was browsing through Instant Gaming and saw a new DLC called "Stay Up, it didn't have anything written on the item page, tho
@@kaydizzyyyI did the same thing! I don’t really understand why it’s there in instant gaming as if it’s an upcoming pack, but all I could find when I googled it was articles about the werewolves pack from 2022, so I assume it’s a mistake, and not a new pack leaked
You mean Circe and Loki Beaker? They're not his parents- they just wanted him as a test subject (In TS2, they don't even have memories of adopting Nervous, and it's implied he came to live with them as an adult). His actual parents are Olive Spectre and (it is heavily implied) the Grim Reaper himself (neither of which the other two people in the picture resemble).
The way I interpreted "Benevolent Blessing" is possible the ghost being a kind of "Guardian Angel" who will watch out for a particular sim or maybe multiple sims. For example, maybe the mother dies and the mother watches over the children even though she is dead. It would be interesting how they will make the will system work as the sims have shared household funds. If they have the will system and the beneficiaries don't get anything it will make me so mad! LOL 😆
Yoy onow Satch, I'm not surprised that this occult themed pack seems to be the moat well put together in a while. Espscially since in TS4 there is this extremely weied push for IRL and Family centred gameplay. The Devs probably feel like they don't get to have as much fun with the more whimsical elements of the sims franchise, so when they're given a greenlight to go ahead and make an occult entered pack, it's like a breath of fresh air and they're allowed to be really creative and fun. Thats my theoey anyway.
I am literally excited for this pack. Because it's my favorite pack. I haven't got it yet. I already pre-ordered it, but I'll wait for the 31st of October so I can start playing It yay.
This is honestly the first time in a long time I've been actually kind of excited for a pack instead of warily optimistic. Of course it's going to bring all kinds of bugs and break the game for a while... but I actually hope it does well, it brings me back to being excited for Sims 2 and 3 packs. I haven't even touched my game since a little after Growing Together came out and Life and Death might bring me back. If it flops, it would be one of the biggest disappointments yet for 4 imo. Edit: Mortician deals with dead bodies, for example for funerals. They are the ones that preserve the bodies, embalm them, make them up and such. It's VERY interesting work. There's also a fun horror game on the occupation, Mortuary Assistant. Also a haunt can also be a common, popular place to go. 😅
"I don't quite know what a mortician is, but it sounds quite fun." - Satch I am constantly amused by the random things that Satch doesn't know - always gives me a chuckle, especially when he makes guesses and then just keeps talking. Like he could Google it or something, but no. 😁
They MIGHT actually do that - as cash grab - 😅 "Your Sim, Blankety Blank has a yearning to spend 24 hours in - "insert name of world not yet owned, with link to buy NOW"....😂😅😂 Seems in Character...
We technically get three careers - one has two tracks (Mortician or Funeral Director), and then this Grim Reaper one which may also have different tracks. I am really excited for all of them!
It sounds like the paranormal 2.0 package. I am playing now with it, when I called the Grim to talk for the Grim challenge, there was a choice from Paranormal to join the death hunt or something, he answered it was too early for that 🙂
Imagine if they had a Learn all the Lore quest line! And you could level up with a skill by it..and get something like Lore Historian with some neat rewards.
Tarot Cards should also be a skill you can work towards. I think it would go perfectly under the medium skill actually which this packs seems to have a lot of cross pack features with Paranormal Stuff anyways. And as you level up, you can get better at readings which can offer different outcomes and good/bad moodlets. Also if you have this pack and the paranormal stuff pack, I hope you’ll be able to do the same readings using the crystal ball. Speaking of, I think the mortician career is cool but I would’ve rather had a fortune teller career. It could’ve been one of those rabbit hole careers with a work from home option. Using the cards or crystal ball, you can hold readings with clients at home or take your cards around town to find new clients and maintain a good relationship with them. There’s just so much they can do with Tarot cards so I hope it’s not as simple as you get them and can perform a simple reading with no skill to get better.
Exactly. If nothing else, give it a month before modders get a hold of the tarot cards and have so many variations involving them. 😂 I do disagree with his point about being able to make money doing readings- that is *not* a good thing to do as a beginner, and in my experience, can muddle with the intent of the reading, so I would be more than happy for it to be hobby only. I've personally only done readings for free and in exchange for other goods, never currency. It definitely should be a skill, though. It takes time to learn. It would be cool to have the option to get a higher level and be able to do larger readings for money once maybe at level four or five, and having mood buffs that correspond to the outcomes and your own skill level.
@@EtaryaFae I agree I think it should be a hobby/skill similar to using the seance table for your own personal reasons. I think the only way you should be able to make money is if there was a fortune teller career which the tarot cards wouldn’t make you money, it would just be one of the job objectives. But as an object and skill, it should be solely for personal use. I’m just hoping there’s more to them because right now it sounds like it will be like one of the table games with a moodlet or two. But I’m sure there’s modders already jotting down ideas as we speak lol
@@EtaryaFae There are plenty of mediums who charge for readings with tarot cards. They are using their energy to do the reading so why shouldn't they get paid. I don't dabble in that shit anymore thank God but I don't think your comment is ethical. Readings for free, ehhh.
@@Ready-ForTheEnd Sorry, when I type fast my phone tends to cut text when I do so. I have no problem with paid readings, if you're familiar with the craft. However, I've seen so many people who try and charge crazy money before they even get to really know or understand their cards and how they work together. I just don't think the Sims should be able to do it from the second they build/buy a deck. That's my own opinion based on personal experience, that's all, and I'm just hoping that EA doesn't make a joke of it all.

Synonymes for mortician : Undertaker, Funeral director. They should bring the trait number to 5, do the same for lots. In fact, giving 5 traits to Sims imply also allowing 5 traits for lots as both use the exact same functions. Should be easy as there is already a mod that allow the Sims to have 5 traits, and have the side effect of also having 5 traits for all lots. Then, do with the Sims what have been done for the lots : Give the Sims challenges, as as for lots, make them able to have unlimited number of challenges. Sim traits possibly make things easier, give some bonus. Sim challenges make things harder, give some malus. Shy, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, squeamish should be obvious challenges. Have mutual exclusion. An outgoing Sim can't be shy. A neat Sim can't be a slob. Inheritance... According to the text, CHILDREN can be part of the inheritance. So, one could have one child getting inherited by one Sim, and another getting inherited by another Sim, from another family. Get a homeless Sim inherit one child and the Moneygraab inherit the other. I really hope that the inheritance mechanism will introduce per Sim funds, with optionally a shared family fund.

Well Said.
OMG I have a gameplay idea. Life & Death + Realm of magic = American Horror Story: Coven (I can finally live my best life as Fiona Goode)
a mortician is someone who takes care of funerals like dresses the bodies and helps the family find a casket
"I don't know what a mortician is- but it sounds fun!" 😂
Mortician is taking care of the 'beauty' pieces of death - recreating the image they had in life in death as well, so they do your loved ones makeup and hair to make them look as much like they did in life for their final ceremony. (This does not mean they are a coroner or medical director, however. It is different depending on the state and agency you work for.)

Chased by death sounds like the unlucky trait from the sims 3.
Skeptical sims don't believe in ghosts... but believe in aliens, mermaids etc.? Why not make them not believe in EVERYthing supernatural?
@@Boo0oo0o_spooky I understand. That would be cool, but waaay beyond the level of a trait, it would have to be a whole mechanic.
I saw that too! But I did some googling and it looks like it was a hint they dropped when they were releasing Werewolves. I could be wrong though.
Yeah, there is a Sims 4 roadmap from 2022 with the same title. “We can expect 1 The Sims 4 Game pack and 2 The Sims 4 Kits spread over May and June.”
@@kaydizzyyy oh, I see. It took me by surprise because I've never seen it before
@@Meganthamac oh, thanks for the info
@@kaydizzyyyI did the same thing! I don’t really understand why it’s there in instant gaming as if it’s an upcoming pack, but all I could find when I googled it was articles about the werewolves pack from 2022, so I assume it’s a mistake, and not a new pack leaked
'Haunting and haunts' in that circumstance they mean a location a person/ghost regularly goes to.
"The bar is one of Satchs regular haunts."
The family portrait frame was a free gift to sims 4 if you downloaded sims mobile back in 2018
Omg the crypt is basically the mausoleum from the Sims 3 base game!! I missed that so much😭
1:33 I think the family potrait belongs to the nervous subject and his so called parents fam. Left one really looks like nervous subject.
Totally ! I thought the same! A little easter egg ❤
If the same team that worked on the Paranormal pack worked on this one, it will be great.
Love how every trailer has Satch learning a new word. So far we've got Ambrosia, Macabre and Mortician
Bestie, a mortician is the person who preps bodies for burial
pack was tease before project rene 3 years so i dont think it will be rushed.
I’m SO excited for the mortician career!! Idc that it’s gonna be a rabbit hole just the existence of it makes me excited
I hope satch googled what a mortician is after this video was up
A mortician is an undertaker. You're so deliciously British ❤️😅
I can see what kind of bugs we might get "Why is my dog a mortician?" Lol
If this pack is out & the funerals work well, I want Satch doing Shanice's make up on stream 😂😂
I am literally excited for this pack. Because it's my favorite pack. I haven't got it yet. I already pre-ordered it, but I'll wait for the 31st of October so I can start playing It yay.
We DEFINITELY NEED tarot reading as a CAREER!
I can recommend game 'A mortician's Tale'.
@@Awanturyna Ohhhhhh looked that up and it looks so cute 🥺☺️
"I don't quite know what a mortician is, but it sounds quite fun." - Satch
I am constantly amused by the random things that Satch doesn't know - always gives me a chuckle, especially when he makes guesses and then just keeps talking. Like he could Google it or something, but no. 😁
2:21 Spend 24 hours in Batuu
Gods, NO
They MIGHT actually do that - as cash grab - 😅
"Your Sim, Blankety Blank has a yearning to spend 24 hours in - "insert name of world not yet owned, with link to buy NOW"....😂😅😂 Seems in Character...
Literally this was my thirst thought! I cant xD
@@janetwebster5099I'm guessing it will be limited to worlds you already own.
We technically get three careers - one has two tracks (Mortician or Funeral Director), and then this Grim Reaper one which may also have different tracks. I am really excited for all of them!
Mortician's are the people that prep the body for burial.
I cant wait to play around with the reborn thing, it might be a minor thing but i cant wait to play around with it
I am always excited about occult sims packs! They're always objectively good!
It sounds like the paranormal 2.0 package. I am playing now with it, when I called the Grim to talk for the Grim challenge, there was a choice from Paranormal to join the death hunt or something, he answered it was too early for that 🙂
I burst out laughing when you said a mortician could be a fun career 😂
4:50 being a mortician sounds fun 💀💀💀💀💀
“ allegedly “ 😂a good pack. “ allegedly “ 😂 love you Satch hilarious per usual ❤❤❤😂
9:08 😂😂 bro. you’re so real for that 😅
He’s mad at that point😂 it’s all because of that wedding disaster
@@EtaryaFae
There are plenty of mediums who charge for readings with tarot cards.
There was more to my comment, edited for what was cut as well as fixed spelling mistakes because my phone didn't register them.
Dudes!! This makes me think or Real of magic!! I adore that pack/ex pack!!! This looks so good!
I'm trying really hard to not be too excited about this so Satch being excited isn't helping 😭 I just don't want to be disappointed, but this really sounds like so much fun
Bro so am i, this might be the coolest expansion packs yet!
The gameplay trailer comes out on the 17th.
EA releasing this and Dragon Age: The Veilguard on the same day is just so uncool tbh 😂
True. Though if I had both, Sims would definitely have to wait. Lucanis is calling my name 😂 Though between this and Veilguard with NO micro transactions and it looking actually decent... I hate the hope it's causing, because I don't want the letdown.
"...Veilguard with NO microtransactions" Is EA feeling okay? 😂
@@SuperSimmerGal No online access at _all_ ... Even to the DA: Keep, where your previous games stories are. World state building is in the main game only. Perfect for the people who sail the seas who couldn't connect on previous titles. 😅🏴☠️ Cautiously optimistic, but trying to tamp down my hype.
no joke, im excited too, im trying not to hype myself, and im mad that i want it. but i do.. i feel like my sims need it..
A mortician is a person who prepares the dead for the funeral
I'm really hoping the new world will be bigger and have things to explore so I can move my vampire family there. Even a new hidden world/lot would be amazing.
It’s the audacity of the audacity of the audacity for me! You are so right. There are so many systems at work in the sims that conflict with each other across packs. I want this but I’ll wait it out to see if it actually works.
Who needs gameplay when you have picnic benches and barbecues 😂😂
Finally an expansion pack with a lot of content!
Who is ready for Ghost Shanise and Ghost Shantell??
This would have been the perfect pack to include a kind of voodoo religion, or some sort of cult that venerates death and ghosts /have a different view on death , we already have voodoo dolls !
They usually do well on supernatural packs so I’m pretty excited for this one
I really really hope we can work as a Fortune teller with the tarot cards as a freelance career or something. I really want a spellcaster, medium/fortune teller.
how do you not know what a mortician is 😭
The "chased by death" trait honestly just sounds like the "daredevil" trait to me.
I _just_ said that to someone while watching this video with someone before I started scrolling the comments 😂
1:34 No, you don’t understand. I want that photo frame so much. They made one a few years back that is no longer available. You can pick the pose you want and to some degree the outfits they are in. You can lock it so that the image has all of the household from generations ago or keep it unlocked and it updates as they age and people join or leave the household. It is simple, but amazing.
That photo frame function is base game.
@@augusto7681 The only way I know how to get it is the frame that the gave away to people who connected their Sims Mobile game a few years back. I don’t have that. I would absolutely love to have a way to do that in game. The frame itself doesn’t matter. How do I access that function in game without the frame I mentioned?
@@StoryGirl83 I had no idea other people didnt had it. Lets say my game isnt original.
@@augusto7681 Ah. That explains it. Yeah, I wish they had a version for everyone or even a version in one of the packs that would always be available for purchase and not just limited time.
Being a ghost on this pack sounds a little like a game called "ghost master" which is a sims like game.
1:16 NERVOUS SUBJECT SNEAK?!?!
I genuinely thought the tittle was satire. Satch likes a sims trailer? Insane
I really want the photoframe from the early buyers rewards!
I missed out on the first version of this frame with the launch sims mobile back in 2018. I want this object to easily make a family photo of all members of my sims households. Of course ravasheens modded version is better because it let's you set a back ground but even with the CAS background, it will be useful as it doesn't require mods. I just wish this portrait wasn't locked behind a time limited offer, just like the last one.
I can reap souls but I can't drive a car, but hopefully this one won't break
I was not expecting talk of wanking in the Life and Death video. 😂
