My only bit of advice to add is buy a vest that allows changes in wgt. Waste of money to buy a 10-12lb vest and know you can handle more wgt a couple months later. I bought a very well made and comfortable 35lb vest and unloaded 16 lbs to start and added 2 lbs every couple of months. That allowed my hips, etc to slowly adapt. No injuries, no need to buy another vest.

Initially I purchased a bulky 40 lbs vest. Didn’t care for it too much. Then went to Marshalls I have the Reebok 20lb weight vest and I love it. Love using the vest alternating to give my knees, spine etc a break. I don’t use it on every walk to create variables. I’ll choose walking paths with inclines etc. I do a long walk (5+ mila and (2) 2.5 miles with the best during the week). The other days I walk without ans do a short jog one day. Additionally weight lighting at home 2-3 days a week. I noticed my body is overall stronger and over 3-4 weeks saw fat loss in how my clothes fit and how my body composition changed. I don’t bother too much with the scale because it can be discouraging when change is actually occurring

Alternating between using the weighted vest and walking without it, along with incorporating inclines, jogging, and weightlifting, is a smart approach to keeping your workouts varied and effective. Do you have a specific workout or routine you follow when using the vest and ankle weights, or are you just incorporating them into your regular exercises?
Yes, you can remove weights from the vest to make it a lower overall weight, like 10 pounds. Hi! Thanks for the video! You mention that you are currently at 25 lbs on the Hyper Vest Elite in size S. Does this mean you can load it with extra weights beyond the max 15 lbs they advertise on the website?
@@hyperwear Thanks for the clarification,! It’s great to know that weighted vests can be used for rucking. I’ve been using a weighted vest for my walks and find it really effective.

It's always best to check with a healthcare professional, especially with a condition like scoliosis. They can guide you on whether using a weighted vest would be safe for your specific situation.

Yeah I love mine too! It's an X shape so works with the female anatomy better for running - mine is 8 pounds and then I also wear weighted gloves - maybe 1.5 pounds each - thinking about a weighted belt - my walks are 3 - 9 miles and then I might wear it at work so sometimes 9 hours per day a couple times a week. I've noticed a lot of muscle definition too and I love how strong I feel 😃
The X-shaped vest sounds like a fantastic fit, especially for running. Wow, that's awesome. A 20-pound loss is an incredible milestone-congrats! Using ankle weights under your scrubs is such a clever idea to sneak in extra activity during the day.
Good point! It’s always smart to check with a professional like a chiropractor before starting with a weighted vest, especially if there are concerns about disc compression or other back issues. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry to hear about the discomfort. Try adjusting the fit, checking the weight distribution, or using padding on the straps. Gradual use might also help. ~Liz
I’m 71 with chronic fatigue and do well to do 1 mile about 4 times a week. I do have osteoporosis and thought about a weighted vest but have had7 knee surgeries and so don’t know if I should put more weight on them. Wonder if just for that one mile walk would help bones a bit but not hurt knees…. hummmm
I can't give medical advice, but it might be worth consulting with your doctor or a physical therapist to see if using a weighted vest could be beneficial for you. Sometimes small adjustments, like starting with a lighter weight, can make a difference. It's great that you're staying active! ~Liz
@@5050DishGal Thanks Liz. I do carry about 25 extra pounds on my body so although I don’t like the looks of it, guess it has its advantages. :) The knee doc I had in my 30’s, a tall naturally lean guy looked at me and said “you have to live your life skinny.” Never happened, but he was such a stickler about that, that’s why I questioned adding even more weight. But I’ll ask. Had a bad break of my femur 4 years ago and have never fully recovered, guess I’m in the 30% Peter Attia says are never the same, so do want to protect bones as much as possible. Thanks again.
@@Candleflower42-zp3sh It's understandable to have concerns, especially given your history. It's always wise to consult with your healthcare provider about any changes to your routine. That vest is great but its $220 dollars. Maybe I'll buy a lighter vest and keep getting new ones when I need them (your Option 1) Thanks for these suggestions! Its great you are also on the Starch Solution (me too!)
Thanks for your comment! I totally understand; the price can be a bit steep. Starting with a lighter vest and gradually increasing the weight sounds like a smart and more affordable approach. Happy to hear you're also on the Starch Solution journey.
Question, do you think I can lose weight on a 50/50 plate of plant based foods without all the walking? I am disabled with bad knees and hips from a car accident.
Yes, you can! The 50/50 plate is designed to help you lose weight by focusing on nutritious, plant-based foods. While walking and other physical activities can certainly enhance weight loss, diet plays a significant role on its own ~Liz
It's not "almost making you stronger"? It is making you stronger. You're carrying extra load on your body. But better then the vest is light db's in the hands if moved. Checkout Heavy Hands by Dr. Leonard Schwartz, and Power Walking by Steve Reeves. Reeves hypothesized that a pound in the hand moving = 5 on the body. He would walk w/ hand weights, ankle weights, and a loaded dive belt in a very brisk cross-country skiing style.. So the answer is to do both. Start very light and progress slowly. Be sure to have a shoulder and wrist prehab program in place.
Carrying extra weight definitely makes you stronger. You might also want to try light dumbbells in your hands while walking-it's a great way to boost the workout. Just start light and build up gradually!
@5050DishGal omg Thank you ❤️. I hope you have an amazing day. Thank you also for your Video. I just started walking with a weighted vest as well cause I plateu on my weight loss Journey, this video inspire me.
I think also you need to tell people to talk with their doctor first before using this product. I have issues and I've had an operation on my neck and I've also have osteoporosis. I thought about this but I've never talked to the doctor about whether it's good or bad for me
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your concerns. I've just now added this to the description. It's important to talk with your doctor before using this product, especially considering your medical history. ~Liz

I've noticed a lot of muscle definition too and I love how strong I feel 😃
The X-shaped vest sounds like a fantastic fit, especially for running. I love hearing about your routine-those weighted gloves and potentially adding a weighted belt sound like great additions to keep challenging yourself! 💪 Walking 3-9 miles and even wearing it at work for up to 9 hours-wow, that’s impressive dedication! It’s incredible to hear how much stronger you feel and the muscle definition you've gained. Keep it up!
Enjoyed your video, very uplifting and informative. I have a 20 lb. vest that
I wear on my morning walks at 73. Carnivore here, the only reason I couldn't subscribe.
Unpleasant reaction to oxalates, even a little bit.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's great to hear you're staying active with your 20 lb. vest. Everyone has to find what works best for them, so I completely understand. Wishing you all the best on your health journey! 😊💪 ~Liz
Ketovore here!!! So much more muscle mass and strength!
I got a 40 pound vest but i only have 20 punds in it. Because ive only lost 20 pounds of fat so far. I also go ankle weights. I want more ankle weights because i can wear those to work and just hide them under my scrubs.
Wow, that's awesome. A 20-pound loss is an incredible milestone-congrats! Using ankle weights under your scrubs is such a clever idea to sneak in extra activity during the day.
Older ruckers should beware of the potental of disc compression issues.
Might want to discuss this with your chiro before using one.
Good point! It’s always smart to check with a professional like a chiropractor before starting with a weighted vest, especially if there are concerns about disc compression or other back issues. Thanks for sharing!
Love my weighted vest. Similar yo yours but has a pocket for my phone so I can listen to podcasts.
That's awesome! Having a pocket for your phone is such a great feature, especially for listening to podcasts while you work out. I'm glad you're loving your weighted vest!
Thanks for sharing. ~Liz
How about rebounding with a weighted vest
I have not tried it, there’s already a lot of resistance on my rebounder, I’m not sure it’s even necessary.
I just received the very same vest. I find it to be very uncomfortable on the trapezius muscles.
Sorry to hear about the discomfort. Try adjusting the fit, checking the weight distribution, or using padding on the straps. Gradual use might also help. ~Liz
Love your videos! Ignore the negative Nancy’s
Thank you! I'm not for everyone and I'm okay about that. haha!
Protecting your bones and overall health is so important, and it's great that you're considering all factors. Stay strong and take care!
Did your walking slow down while getting used to the weighted vest? Thank you for all the information. It’s a Great Looking vest👍🏻
You have to work on a new cadence... which takes a little time, but after a while you get used to it and look forward to the additional push!
@@5050DishGal thank you🦋
How long did you use your first vest before upgrading? I just got mine. Can't wait to start using it!
Only a few weeks! I was eager for more and wanted a different fit, so I upgraded pretty quickly. ~Liz
What is the brand of vest?
That vest is great but its $220 dollars. Maybe I'll buy a lighter vest and keep getting new ones when I need them (your Option 1)
Thanks for these suggestions!
I love mine. It’s like yours except I can add up to 60 pds if I wanted. It was only like 35 dollars. I got it after watching you 😊
Oh wow! That's awesome to hear! I'm thrilled to know you got it after watching my videos. 😊 Keep up the fantastic work & thank you for sharing! ~Liz
Where did you buy it please? Thank you
Question, do you think I can lose weight on a 50/50 plate of plant based foods without all the walking? I am disabled with bad knees and hips from a car accident.
Yes, you can! The 50/50 plate is designed to help you lose weight by focusing on nutritious, plant-based foods. While walking and other physical activities can certainly enhance weight loss, diet plays a significant role on its own ~Liz
@@5050DishGal thank you.
Hi where did you get your tank top? I want to buy it.
Hi. This is the tank top I have in this video: amzn.to/3BII6gH. It's available in different colors too :D
@5050DishGal omg Thank you ❤️. I hope you have an amazing day. Thank you also for your Video. I just started walking with a weighted vest as well cause I plateu on my weight loss Journey, this video inspire me.
Are you wearing it with 10lbs of weight, if yes, how will it fit another 10lbs in them small pockets? Thanks.
I bought the extra weights to add! So there are two weights in each pocket!
Thanks.
~Liz
Does wearing a 20 lb kid 90% of the count? 😅
Yes...yes it does 😂
Haha, absolutely! Wearing a 20 lb kid definitely counts-talk about a workout on the go! 😅 ~Liz
Yes! Just back carry. I used an Ergo to back carry my 18 month old. Legs were solid back then!
Been babywearing since my daughter's birth so just, here to add:
I lost 70 pounds by both a calorie deficit and carrying my 50 lb kid in Tula Signature Preschool Carrier for extended walks (in leiu of weighted vest) it definitely works
@@lynseywelmers5822 That’s amazing! Babywearing is such a practical and loving way to add weight to your walks-plus, it's a great bonding experience with your daughter. It sounds like you found a fantastic way to stay active and healthy. Congrats on your weight loss and finding a routine that works for you!
👍
Careful that this makes everything harder on the joints. Knees, hips, shoulders, etc..
Thank you for caring! So far so good!
I thought you were not suppose to go more then 10% of your body weight with the weights
I'm not sure where that information comes from, but my focus is on building muscle, and for that, I'll definitely be lifting heavier weights.
I recently got a weighted vest. I really enjoy walking around in it but I’m self conscious. I’m afraid I look like a guy in military gear
I totally get that feeling! It can feel a bit awkward at first, but trust me-you're rocking it! Think of it this way: you're prioritizing your health and fitness, and that's something to be proud of. Plus, most people probably don't even notice, and if they do, they might just be inspired by your dedication. Keep enjoying those walks and wearing that vest with confidence! 💪😊
@@5050DishGalthanks for that encouragement - I will keep those thoughts on my mind next time!
I bought a weighted vest that goes from 2 to 19 pounds. You should start light or you will hurt yourself. I like the removable sakes. It’s straightens your posture as well. You really should watch how to do it properly or else you can really hurt yourself and you will quit.
That’s great advice! The removable weights are a nice feature for gradually increasing intensity.
Which one did you buy?
@@michellesousa1768 These are the ones I bought:
Weighted Vest Option 1: amzn.to/3KDuODn
Weighted Vest Option 2: amzn.to/3VBymMO
Additional Weights: amzn.to/3RkJJWZ
It's called rucking
Yes, I know! But people now know it as this!
This vest actually looks cute, but it’s expensive!
Yes, it's SO worth it!

Your voice needs to go down about five octaves it's too high-pitched and screamy

Nancy, thanks for your feedback, not something I can change, sorry. I don't think my channel is good fit for you!
