After Gex's father being killed in the explosion back at NASA, Gex bottles up with his emotion and then becomes obsessed with TV. When his uncle died, Gex decides to inherited a lot of money to buy the world's largest TV and then watch more TV until Gex eats a transmitter fly that was sent by Rez that caused his TV to go blank. Rez reached out and grab Gex and then pulled him into the Media Dimension to use him as a mascot to rule the world. Gex refuses to become Rez's mascot as he plans to collect all remotes and manages to defeat Rez in order to return to his mansion. -

Gex’s voice was supplied by comedian Dana Gould, who was very popular and influential on HBO back in the day.
Honestly it makes me wonder why the creators didn't push Gex MUCH harder!
If GEICO and Sonic had a baby, it would be Gex.

I played this on 3DO Panasonic FZ10
First played it on 3DO too and later replayed on PSX. 3DO version had more mini-games in the secret maze level. PSX version runs smoother though. Great platform game.
I remember when I download this game by mistake on PS3. Even thought I had enough money to buy Enter the Gecko instead lol

Wish granted as Limited Run and Square Enix North are rereleasing the entire Gex Trilogy in an update rerelease possible remake of the entire OG trilogy which will be releasing for all modern platforms

@@pferreira1983 Same it would nice to have both VAs to give players the option to choose the one they want as opinions on Dana Gould or Leslie Phillips being the better VA for Gex are mixed.

Played this on Sega Saturn when I was a kid.
I didn't know there were secret levels, but now I do thanks to this.
I literally played this game as a little kid but this game came out when I was nearly 2 years old.
In the secret level "The Project", the trick is that the correct path has an odd number of golden flies.
I love this I only got to play the N64 Gex : Enter the Gecko so this is a good throw back I love it
Every time I played this game around friends they always laughed at his quotes and I had a hard time trying not to repeat his quotes
at the time, gex was a better spiderman game than all the spiderman games available back then

I gonna be honest, I thought that the animation in this game was amazing and well done, so much so that in certain points of the video I actually paused it, went back a few seconds, put the playback speed on 0.25x and mute the sound (it sounds weird when it's slow) so I could see it again in slow motion so I could get a better idea of what was going on in those frames and even then it still looked cool 👍😎.
This was my first ever PS1 game back then, it came with my console! So ironic: back then the graphics (being 2D, no polygons, etc) felt so dated - watching it today, they actually hold up much better than future games of the series.

Had this for the Saturn when I was a kid. Great idea for a mascot and I enjoyed it back then. Looking at it now though, I can't help but wonder why they gave him the personality they did. He didn't need a personality for starters, the gameplay aspect was good enough. A lizard that can climb walls quickly, swing his tail and flick his tongue out. His verbal quips are the type of things kids aren't going to get and I doubt adults would find funny.
Gulldarnit!! I had a blast playing this game. i recall seeing this as a sample game U could play at Circuit City!!

Awesomeness
Gex, a young anthropomorphic gecko, lives by himself watching TV and eating snacks in his mansion in Maui, Hawaii, which he acquired after inheriting a large sum of money from his uncle that passed away. One day, while looking for a good show to watch, he consumes a passing house fly. This insect turnd out to be a small undercover drone being controlled by Rez, the overlord of the Media Dimension. Rez uses the droid to "bug" Gex, and pulls him into the Media Dimebsion through the TV set, intending to use him as the network's new mascot character. In order to escape, Gex needs to traverse the Media Dimension and find remote controls which he could use to destroy the TV sets blockading his exit back to the outside world.

Till today I have the CD-Rom of Gex i used to play a lot back in 2007 because of my faulty internet connection I still have the game installed on my pc

I've never seen the original gex and i had 2 as a kid, what a big difference.
Looks very super nintendo'ish.
Later games kinda felt like spyro with different mechanics.

For beg jumb in the game press triangle (not circle) and directions then press X button but it is hard and the small places
About the only praise I can give Gex is that at least it was better Saturn platformer than Bug!.

Such a random game and premise. BAsically they tried to outdo SOnic but witha bubsy twist...and thats where it went wrong. ITs an decent enough game franchise, but so random. lol

Ah, so THIS is the Sony answer to Sega's 'Awesome Possum' (ie - truly annoying platform game protagonist).
Yep, even though Gex was originally planned to be the mascot for the 3DO.
He always was the 3DO mascot, not Sony’s. He went multiplatform when the console flopped.
Gex was Crystal Dynamics's mascot.
Sony finally had a mascot when Crash Bandicoot released.

This franchise should have always stayed a 2D platformer, after it went 3D the games weren't that good anymore.
Gex: Enter the Gecko is my favourite 3D platformer ever.
They took a different direction because they want a more "Movie Genre" approach. They want the Levels to match certain genres.
The Levels in this game didn't match certain genres. It was flat out plain and didn't meet any genres.
Plus they want it for everybody where everyone can enjoy.
The transitioning to 3d was badly needed as it limit creativity In the level.
Worst tennis game I ever played…
