Was a great game to play as a kid. The nostalgia is strong with this one. It's going to be fun watching this and being stuck in the 90s for a little while again.

I couldn't even pass the 45 minutes of the video in terms of levels when i was playing it as a kid 😂😂
i was at 10 minutes back then
I could pretty easily get to the first stage boss, then I hit a brick wall and had no clue how to beat it. I ended up getting the stage code for the next level from a friend, and was able to beat the rest of the game. No clue why the first boss was such a stopping block for me.
They need to remake this shit. For real. This game was so good.

I loved the catchy remarks. Most of my friends who have seen the gameplay hate them🤣. There used to be a site with all the quotes from the game, classified by level and in general. There are A LOT of them.

Came to this because my dad used to play this with a sibling of mine and wanted me to see what he roughly described as "one of the first platform games" if I remember correctly. Honestly, he was right about the game being great, because it seems great to me.
I didnt know Gex has a 2D game. I always thought Gex: Enter the Gecko was the first one. Never realized that was the second one.

Thank you so much for showing Planet X. I just beat the regular game and found out about the extra zone. I looked up in this video how to get there and decided to try, but the barrel perfection is too grating. After giving up, I decided to see how Planet X was, and the zone itself turned out to be even more grating. I'm glad I gave up, LOL.

This appears when I was doing Crash Bandicoot searches. Glad to see the developers were making a late to the party 1992 arcade game.
I just noticed the "YOU MOVED THE HEADSTONES, BUT YOU DIDN'T MOVE THE BODIES" reference - awesome! Man, never beat this back then..

I remember playing this game so many years ago when I was little
I loved this game to bits and pieces! I played it on the 3DO (those disks eventually got damaged). The secret for The Project (2:06:10) is to follow the paths with an odd number of golden flies. I managed to map about 70% of the level by myself using grid paper, each line intersection corresponded to one square metal block, the walls and floors were the lines, but my notebook was too small for this huge level. I loved the music, though, and I have it as a GEX playlist for my personal use. This level was crazy: a secret minigame, one hidden miniboss, and a huge map with a catchy tune that I still enjoy for longer than I want to admit. The whole subworld had lots of glitches, specially on slope levels, but it was a fun extra addition with higher difficulty a-la Mario World Special levels. And the reward for completing all the levels in the game was TOTALLY worth it.
This was my favorite game as a kid lol, got it in the blockbuster discount bin for $5.
Best thing about this game knows my superhero name known as ROCKETMAN 🚀!

I ended up not finishing this game when I was a kid because I was such a bloody completionist that I had to get every golden bug and powerups in the game before I was happy with completing the level. Ended up giving up half way through
Why do i specifically remember a level with doctors needles. I had this game on the N64, and i guess i must just be mistaken but i swear I remember that.

Gex for Smash. his 2 sequels. were on N64, and GBC so he has a chance to be in Smash.
He wasn't commercially successful enough, I guess.
it be nice if he got a HD treatment (remake). Square Enix has the rights for Gex nowadays.
One problem is that hes completely irrelevant today, and since his games didn't do anything that new, not saying it's bad, it's just there are so many others more deserving.

God dammit. This is my childhood. But, I have never played it until the end, because I did not knew there was "long-jump" key ... And if you do not know this, you are able to reach the last china scenery only :-/ I was very, very sad about it all the time because I though it was some bug. But I was the bug :-D
