    This video just popped up, delighted with your method of teaching, as I'm a senior who started late , learning music would take me for ever, this method is marvellous for late learners, time is not on my side. Thank you so much,love the tune.

      Thanks for reply, it's the fiddle I'm learning on, it's my life savour, have suggested music for retirees at council meetings, with the minister for the elderly, not successful yet with that, students could teach us, they would get paid, it would help them with college, In morning time, afternoon, I go every thursday night, forty minutes away. Love to get all seniors playing, trips to the doctor would be a lot less.Good luck to you.

    Picked up a concertina a few days ago. Found this video looking up ornamentations. I’m coming over from a piano accordion so I like my full triads, but not much bellows to work with. 😂

    I've recently started playing an 30 button Anglo concertina back in mid March or Feb. I can play only a few songs on it

    Hello! I've been waiting to learn concertina for a while now but I've run into a couple of problems. There are no nearby lessons for me and I have a difficult time trying to learn things on my own due to some problems. I do know of some accordion lessons close by. Is it possible to learn concertina through accordion lessons?

      Hi, it's a Jeffries. Are you playing concertina? There's some buying help here and general FAQ's on this page - www.oaim.ie/concertina/concertina-basics/

    I don't quite understand the second phrase. You seem to be playing a something different to what's written on the screen. I'm just starting on concertina so forgive me if this seems like a silly query

      Remember to play the F as F# and the C as C# in this key

    Can't say I'm impressed by the tab system. It's just as easy to learn proper musical notation, folks, and infinitely more flexible and useful. Five-year-olds can learn it and so can you. Sometimes shortcuts turn out to be longcuts...

      In Irish music, we learn by ear. ABC to support the initial stage of getting the tune 'under the fingers' - then we use our ear and don't need any notation.

    • @justinward3218
      @justinward3218 9 місяців тому

      Learning by ear is quite more flexible than needing sheets. 😂

    • @tullochgorum6323
      @tullochgorum6323 9 місяців тому

      @@justinward3218 The great majority of good trad musicians use both. I've never understood why people would boast about being illiterate. For any serious musician, the ability to read and write music notation is a major convenience, and for a pro it's pretty much essential.
      Can you really remember thousands of tunes without a fake sheet? Do you really want to deprive yourself of the ability to work through old tune collections and unearth neglected gems? Or jot down a tune to share? Or restrict yourself to tunes with accessible recordings?
      As I said - I could read music by the age of 5. It's not difficult, especially on a melody instrument. There'a nothing to be scared of.
