      can you tell me how you do? I'm curious about the placing system. I got 5 wins and 5 losses and got placed in bronze I while all my friends that got the same score ended up in bronze II. I also had a friend that got 3 wins and 7 losses and was placed in silver V. All of us have never played ranked before that and I am just confused as hell.

      FutureBeyond Its your mmr (hidden elo), you get this by winning normal games

    • @Carazhan
      @Carazhan 8 років тому +1

      has to do with your overall performance as well - let's say you and your friend both play teemo in the same game (impossible, but this is just an example). your team wins, but one of you goes 19/3/15 with say, 70% kill participation, and the other goes 23/17/3 with 60% kill participation. just because the second player got more kills, doesnt mean they played better - the first player participated in more kills, and died less.
      it also keeps track of how well you last hit creeps. after all, it wouldnt make sense to send a player to gold 3, even if theyre skilled at ganking/teamfighting if their cs is low, since they would easily be outfarmed by the other players and would likely end up feeding.

  • @oscarzafra7597
    @oscarzafra7597 8 років тому +98

    honestly I think a very important tip is to be friendly. if someone's dying non intentionally try to defend them if they get flamed and over all be the voice of reason.
    a person's mindset is very important and will in fact be the difference between winning and losing. for example, I had a game I'm not to proud of where I went 2/11 as yasuo and I was just being flamed, my team told me to go afk, kill myself etc. a lesser person would of just gave up once they see that their team is just bullying them but instead I just farmed it out and ended the game by getting a triple and taking down the nexus solo. if I had been more tilted I wouldn't of even tried to win.
    flaming is nonsensical. you're mad someone is hindering your chances of winning, therefore you hinder your chances of winning.

      losing is learning

    • @PsychoBlueDot
      @PsychoBlueDot 6 років тому

      Losing isn't learning when your not feeding the problem champs or being the reason you lose games. It takes 5 players or one really fed op champ to win a game. Losing is never learning when specific players get ran over before it's even mid game. You can look at a players stats and see they are losing and not learning there are many players in that category. When did people start treating being a loser as a positive? It's such a conundrum I don't understand. When others cause the loss, you can ban that champion that you lost to but you can't not play with a bad player that gets ran over in lane, you can even check those players in the pick and ban phase thus doesn't solve the problem at all. I understand being optimistic is good but being optimistically ignorant is just silly.

    Awesome advice dude! I've been watching more of these videos recently to try to understand how to get better at the game and this is one of the best. My favorite part about it is how positive your attitude is and how relatable you are. Not many other people have mentioned that they were down in Silver or Gold before. That was a big confidence boost.

    Muting everyone actually works. I am like practicing Vayne as one of my mains and then I keep getting triggered by those salty players that's why my gameplay keeps on going down but when I started muting everyone I felt that I can enjoy the game longer and voila My accuracy of Condemn keeps on increasing. Sorry if I may sound noob, I'm just lvl 12 atm

    Learn to be fucking carried. The single best piece of advice on this list. Sometimes you're losing lane and someone else is wrecking theirs. Let them fucking carry instead of going tryhard and feeding harder. I've seen so many (especially in the ADC role) get destroyed in lane and then proceed to feed more and tilt more and blame their team for it and just be toxic in general. You're not hot shit, you're not carrying, just shut up and let someone else carry the game.

    • @drb4074
      @drb4074 8 років тому +1

      Honestly- that's called "know your limits".
      Some games, some matchups, just aren't gonna be working out for you. It's important to recognize that, and mitigate damage as much as you can. If you are too up your own ass to see it; you can snowball bad breaks into disasters for your team.

    Last is the more important tip. Having fun is the greatest thing to improve. I can say I improved playing a lot of lee sin, because it's so funny to kick people, knowing that a majority play with 60 fps, and I play with 10 fps. Doing insecs is so good, because I feel i am better than many other players that are being rekt by someone with a toast. And I'm almost Platinum. This game is so funny

    I just finished a game with a 0/5/0 Akali yelling at me all game when I was 0/2/7 and new to yasuo.. the 2 deaths being from trying to roam on her lane with a fed Trynd, eventually I raged back but could've just hit mute instead, so I took 3 minutes and 2 missed ult opportunities over typing. Use your mute button because ragers really have nothing useful to say.

    • @jordym22
      @jordym22 7 років тому

      Allen Wright if you're playing yasuo in ranked when you don't have a ton of expirence on him, I honestly don't feel bad for you... do NOT play champions you aren't incredibly good at in ranked! if your best champ is Annie, then play Annie. It's as simple as that.

    • @allenwright123
      @allenwright123 7 років тому

      I don't think it was in ranked.. I don't play champs I'm new to in ranked, my point was just to use the mute button when you're being annoyed or just don't type back.. they were spam pinging me too, thank god for the new mute pings.

    • @klausd.6285
      @klausd.6285 7 років тому

      jordy M He never said it was ranked or not. Assuming much? I have just came back to the game after two years because of toxic people. I had people telling me to kill myself, that I suck, etc when I wasn't even level 30, heck I quit playing at level 17. I WAS LEARNING THE GAME and people were being ass holes to me. No one is a god right off the bat with any game or champion, yet League players think everyone they play with have to be Gods or they suck. It's such a shit player base that I refuse to play with random people unless it's bots. People don't flame in just ranked, they flame in normals a lot too, and I have even seen them flame in bot games.

    my placements had me in bronze 5 (i won 7 out of 10 ffs) and now I am silver 1, soon gold. Honestly climbing aint that hard as long as you find a decent champ and grind... for me its leona (70% winrate) and i just go to town on people who arent one trick ponies... like i beat thresh morgs and ali's like nobody's buisnness becuase people dont understand what maining a champ is. I know EVERY single build and combo with leo, i know the exact range of the r without even looking... half the time i cast my e while looking at my phone becuase i already have a feeling for where they will be. Once you take a champ and thoroughly main it, almost nothing can stop you... and i have a leona top game in my ranked, thats the kind of confidence you get from maining a champ- I feel good when i take her into any role (except adc), although i usually stick to supp because thats what leo excells at. but you can do this with any champ and it is so fcking easy i dont get why people dont do it... i know i have 250k on leo, which is a lot, but honestly its not that huge, i know people with 500k.
    THE REAL SECRET TO RANKED THAT PROS RARELY TELL US?
    PLAY ONE CHAMP. GRIND THAT CHAMP. BECOME CHALLENGER WITH THAT CHAMP. DOESNT MATTER HOW MANY CHAMPIONS ARE IN LEAGUE, IF YOU CAN PLAY 1 AT SUPER-HIGH LEVEL AND 5 HIGH LEVEL AS BACKUP, YOU WILL CLIMB ELO EVEN IF YOU ARENT AN AMAZING PLAYER.

    • @101ified
      @101ified 8 років тому +1

    • @Raven-pj4ye

      I didn't mean for it to sound so (sorry for bad english, I'm Israeli) Arrogant(I think thats the word), But I just wanted to spread the simple truth: one trick ponies can get elo easier than diverse players, as they need less game experience because their champ knowledge covers their lack of game knowledge. Btw d5 isn't that impressive, that's basically Gbay99 levels XD Raven

    I feel like that one of the best things ive done for climbing is apply the phrase "Let yourself be carried" to yourself and your teammates and also when to get fed and when to feed your teammates. Sidenote: playing with no more and no less than 1 friend who's serious can create a tilt free zone

    I really liked your comment on muting team mates. My fried told me that I should just "mute all" during games when starting ranked because it's easy to get tilted. I had the same mindset as you on them possibly saying something important, but if it's really important, then it would be repeated or some sort of cue would be made. ^_^ thanks for some great tips!

    the best advice I ever got was remember that it's a team game. work together, motivate each other, and win as a team. being toxic and shitting on your team mates is literally like shooting yourself in the foot. a positive and kind attitude towards each other makes an entire world of difference. it won't kill you to be nice for 40 minutes to win the game.

    As an ADC main he two most frustrating things to deal with in ranked that stop me from climbing are as follows:
    1. My team engaging fights without me, even though I am the only positive one on the team. So many of my games I've had a team that blindly runs in a 4v5 when I'm not there. I always try to be with the team when they need me, but I find it frustrating whenever I go bot lane to farm a bit and I hear "An ally has been slain" four times. Then your team flames you for not being there, even though they were the ones that engaged in the 4v5. This is probably my biggest pet peeve and I always try to warn my team whenever I am going bot by saying "Don't fight them let me push out bot" or something along those lines; but after most losses I am tilted not because we lost, but because we lost for a really stupid reason.
    2. Having an enemy champion that can easily assassinate you. One of the most frustrating things for me is when I'm doing well such as having a huge lead over the enemy ADC in gold or kills. Usually when this happens I snowball from there, going like 10-0. The problem comes in when the enemy has someone on their team that is fed that can easily assassinate me. If I get fed, I become a huge target for the enemy team. Champions like Malzahar, zed, and Leblanc are a few champions that can do this. Many games I am the main source of damage on our team and what happens to me often is that someone like zed will ult me, malz ult me, leblanc burst me, jax dive me in the backline.(Things like those) And as soon as I die our entire team collapses since they rely so much on me for damage. Occasionally I'll get smarter teammates that peel for me in teamfights and keep me alive but I feel like majority of the time they don't and just focus on killing the enemy, rather than protecting me. In champ select I always try to ban those champions but I can't always ban them.
    Sorry if this comment sounded salty, but I've lost 6 ranked games in a row to one of these two reasons. I just don't know what to do. If I lose one more I get demoted so I'm trying my best to work around these but can't always find a solution.

      Here’s the thing. For the first one. Examine what decisions your team makes and assume they’ll try to fight etc. And usually you find out similar patterns in what your teammates does, including enemy patterns. This is what will set you apart in ranking. That’s how pros are so good at kiting. It’s anticipating. And having amazing game knowledge as well as amazing decision making. That’s why you’ll think damn I’m fed but I’m not with the team cause I push and they blindly fights. Focus on wave management. Do something that you, yourself can improve on. Don’t take it as you’re wrong but I’ve won so many games in a same situation. Think should I make a decision to push or not. Watch the teams rotation. Ping enemy. And as for the second one. Then you can build accordingly including positioning. Just cause you’re fed. You got yourself in range to get ulted etc. and another. Is who you are focusing. Oh and I mean qss and hmm you know armour or mr. Sometimes you done all you could and you didn’t win. That’s fine. Improve yourself and you’ll climb. Because you can’t be that unlucky. If you are saying you are gold or plat etc. and played a billion games. You didn’t carry hard enough. That’s it. That’s why I don’t care to blame teammates. Because I can improve myself and be better.

    There's a lot of good advice here. I'm Silver and I also learned from playing on a smurf at the same elo that apparently I was taking everything to seriously because I would only play champs that don't fit my stile or that I personally find really counter-able, but can be more fun. For instance I don't own teemo on my main but on my smurf he's my most played champ. I also feel that no one should blind pick blitz because I have never lost to one when I've had the chance to counter because ali, morg, and even braum can really mess him up without even thinking that much. however on my smurf blitz is pretty much the only support I play even though I don't even own him on my main, and it still seams to work out. I think in both cases it has to do with not worrying, because it is really hard to win lane if you get counter picked but if you don't let a rough lane phase get to you, you can still have a positive impact later on from good team play and understanding of what your job is at any point in the game.
    other things he said like not playing another game to get lp back before I stop is huge. My natural tendency is to want to end on a high note, so I was more likely to stop or take a break if I win and more likely que right back into a game if I just had a rough loss. I've been fighting this tendency more and more and it helps a lot.

    So true, I've been stuck in Platinum 5 in Korea for a month. Then I marathoned game after game 8 hours a day for 4 days on my long break off work. I couldn't get out of Platinum 5 and just focused on playing game after game and not looking at my LP. Then suddenly on day 4 I got into Platinum 4. I also noticed my plays were becoming much more intuitive and mechanically better. I even Thresh hooked a Rengar in stealth without actually knowing or having to really think where he was... I just knew it after marathoning so many games. Weird how it works, but if you focus on getting better the climb comes. Skill improves and suddenly you notice you are in a higher league.

    Do you have a video which talks about how to deal with Dynamic Que as a solo player? How do I find out who are premade, so that I can prepare for it? How to play in a Dynamic Que environment compared to SoloQ environment now that we know it's not coming back. It feels like I'm forced to take a back seat ride while my premade team communicates via Skype. The idea of being left to fend off against a roaming death squad with communication to execute team fights better than solo players.
    Maybe wait a couple of patches for Riot to tweak the system a bit more, I don't know, up to you off course.
    Anyway, have a nice day. PS: I remember the first time you played that robot sound. That was a long time ago :P Keep it up!

    For me it works focusing on logical decisions, keeping a stonecold mood where no toxic remark or hateful message can knock you out. In the beginning when I started playing I was easy to tilt and was really amazed at how disrespectful people mostly were at that time (3 1/2 - 4 years ago) but I think the overall tendencies of people have improved since then(..or maybe I'm just 2 good at ignoring them).
    I really enjoy playing League especially when I feel that I am near the zone mentally. Dodging in and out of fights is something I enjoy alot and I have become good at peeling damage f.ex as the tank without dying in teamfights simply withdrawing when my HP is low. I am on low elo now but my win rate has really improved alot during the last 6 months and I look forward to the next season. :)

    • @drb4074
      @drb4074 8 років тому

      The more you play, the more confident you get in your knowledge/skill. So the toxic remarks have less effect on you because they mean little to you. If you make a mistake, you know what it was and how to fix it. Or you knew what you were trying to do, and caught a bad break. No sweat, your strategy will remain constant.
      It's not as easy for the inexperienced or newer players. They can still be quite fragile in their game knowledge/skill. So when they make a mistake and get jumped on, they can take it harder. That's what the mute button is for though.

    1.Ping - always use ping alert especially when enemy is missing and/or enemy is near your teammate/s. Spam it three or more times to make it noticeable.
    2.Map awareness - be more aware of missing champions/opponents when pushing. In case, press Recall or Teleport immediately.
    3. Play safe - always check champion counters and champion synergy.

    that slop he mentioned - he is 100% right. as soon as you start thinking about it, you go into your next game tilted. to give you a thought, i placed into silver 1 in season 4, the first season i could play ranked. after getting about halfway to gold 5, i took a couple losses, and then tried to win it back immediately. that night i slid to silver 3. the next day i slid to silver 5 before going, playing something else for a while. when i came back, i started climbing again, but never broke silver 4, mostly because i just cycled into other games(i think it was getting back into skyrim actually). there are one or two that i could reasonably argue, but overall, he is right. listen to these and you should have an easier time climbing.

    I'm surprised that having a focus on objectives wasn't on here. Really the only reason I got Gold this year (after being silver for three previous seasons) was because I pressured hard for turrets and other objectives to close out games when I get a lead, a lot of times solo pushing a lane and warding jungle as an ADC.

    Tip 11: Play tanky champions in support/top/jungle in lower elo (bronze-gold). Champions who are tanky and have good initiation and peel will win the game (they are also alot harder to kill in lane and thus you'll die less and they are still effective when behind). Initiation and diving for enemy carrys isnt always the best option, you should also defend your carrys.
    Tip 12: As a jungler you're the one with most free time, watch your minimap atleast every 10 seconds, check your teammates, how are they doing in lane etc.. sort out the ones who are good and camp their lane, also ping every time enemy jungler walks over wards.
