  • This is my side-by-side comparison of the NiSi Cinema filters. I am mainly testing to see the color shift accuracy (2:32).

    great video straight to the point. Quick question might sound stupid but if you use one of these does it cut out the IR pollution people speak about ? I have one nisi 3 stop IR ND for my matte box and trying to figure out if i need that pesky ICE IR cut filter ? Thanks

    • @JoshuaFortuna
      @JoshuaFortuna  Рік тому

      not stupid at all. this does cut out IR pollution as well! so as you add more ND, the blacks don’t turn red

    Thanks Joshua for this valuable video. If I am only shooting outdoors from 6-8pm, can you recommend the number of stops? Also, if I am not buying a Matt box, do you know if any circular lens mountable IRND from Nissy or any other good brands?

      That's a really difficult question to answer without knowing the exact location, sky quality, FPS, ISO, and desired aperture. I'll say that in full Texas sun, at 400 ISO, 48fps, & f/1.8 I typically would have a 6-stop ND filter. Hope that helps.
      Also, yeah NiSi makes round IRND filters as well. nisiopticsusa.com/category/nisi-circular-filters/round-nd-filters/

    On full frame cameras, how much wider i can go with these filters before it stars to vignette? I mean what is the widest focal lenth on full frame camera i can use with it?
    It will be really helpful if you can answer this. Actually i am looking to get one for my work and i shoot pretty wide few times, for example 14 mm and 16mm. I am really confused that will these filters cover such wide focal lengths.
    Thank you in advance.❤️ Love from India.

      Since these are so large and are solid NDs, there is no vignetting. However, it depends on what matte box you use. For instance, some budget ($99) options like Tilta and SmallRig hold the filters away from the lens. With my Bright Tangerine Atom, it places the filter right against the front element.
      I’ve shot 11mm on S35 with no problem.

    I'll sound naive but these are expensive

    • @JoshuaFortuna

      They are a bit expensive coming from screw-on filters, but par for the course for 4x5.65 filters. These are definitely an investment in my future of shooting on cinema glass (since they’re too large for screw-ons).
