Opening Day | Louisiana Duck Season 2021

- This weekend was opening day in North Louisiana. Phil, Jase, Si, Al, and Godwin hunted the "Hobbit Blind" at Phil's property while Martin hunted with Clay at Pin oak.
The "Hobbit Blind" gets it's name from its size. It's extremely difficult to get in due to its low profile. Phil purposely made it this way so the ducks don't notice the blind while flying in. In turn, only Godwin and shorter camera men can get in the blind with ease.

If you are a duck hunter… you can really learn something from these guys. If you are growing up in this era consider yourself blessed for the gifts and knowledge they are giving to you. They teach you how to call “to” ducks not at ducks. Almost every duck hunter wants to whine on a mallard call 90% of the time but these guys sound like actual ducks on the water. Teal, gadwall, wigeon, pintails, and mallards. You can’t have all the species out there and only blow a mallard call the whole time. Appreciate the great videos guys. You have taught me a lot

Yee haw love it deer hunting season in Ohio starts next week and the last few years for me have been pretty dismal but it is alright took off opening day feeling good about it maybe I can get a twofer cause I can't get anymore days.

They make it look so easy.
The ducks don't come in every 2 minutes. That isn't reality at all. Usually in-between shots, it can be a long waiting game. And if you're up north, cold rainy and blustery. This blue birdy day, shooting every 30 seconds isn't anything I've ever experienced and I hunt ducks a lot. Usually after some shooting everything in the area is scatters for a while. Because the ones that didn't get shot while you were shooting aren't coming back anytime soon! Good luck to those new hunters, it's fun, but a lot of hard work and it ain't that easy.
Also these guys must have a private huge marsh to be on, with nobody else around for miles and miles, because if you're on public land and there's other groups spread out skyblasting, that can make it really hard. Anyway God-bless!!

Do they make goose calls at all? Not to many ducks by me but sooooooo many geese. This show got me into hunting them. Thank you for the new great hobby
they certainly do. just search canada goose calls and you'll have plenty to choose from.

Was someone using walker game ear plugs? I have used those this year and liked them way better than the walker ear muffs just for the fact i can hear direction. I know some of you use tetra and was wondering if you get the static air noise with them ? Thanks for any input

20 gauges sound like cap guns on open water and waste too many shells beyond 30-35 yards on larger ducks. I only shoot my 20 gauge in flooded timber / buck brush. 2-3/4 inch 1 ounce #6 shot. Remington Model 11 with 30 inch barrel & full choke. It shoots like a rifle at 35 yards. Smokes mallards, sometimes I use 1 ounce #7.5 shot.
I never feel bad for water swatting!
I'm gonna run out of my fav shells this year. Can't find heavy shot heavy metal anywhere.

@@juliestewartvideos I thought about that, but then I thought hey you know what the whole purpose of duck hunting is to make the decoy spread in a way to fool the ducks into coming in, and the correct calling, so if they are landing in the decoys then you must have done something right, at that the point the ultimate goal has been reached so I don't knock em for shooting them on the water.

Water swatting is completely fine, its harder to get them to land in the decoys than it is to shoot them on a fly by
Love me some Duck Commander for years. Had to turn this off. I’d never shoot a duck on the water. Where did the ethics in duck hunting go? I’m out for good on all of their vids. I guess I should go shoot into the bottom of a squirrel nest for it matters.

Have not seen hardly any ducks this fall .when the teal came through ,all I can say is there was a couple .I live on the Missouri river .are they still up north or that just scarce. DanO south east Nebraska

How many times do you need to shoot a downed duck on the water to kill him? And i think i saw shooting to get them to jump up? Looks like you were shooting right on em early in the vid. Not cricket.
Unless they've been pricked/winged what's with shooting a bird or group of birds already on the water?
Most ethical shot there is. Best chance of taking the bird, smallest chance of only injuring it. Some people say it's not sporting, but if you brought the bird into your spread, you've earned the shot.
