Hi Joel. Looking into moving from Bias FX2 to Overloud for live tones. Admittedly it does sound better like you have pointed out. Does Overloud have “Scenes (like in Bias)” or “Snapshots (like in Helix)”? This would be a make or break feature for me to use it live.
Hi Gerhard, Thru does have a very simple “4 snapshot setup” for each preset. But I wouldn’t recommend using thu live though bc there is no tap tempo or ability to save bpm with presets… I was so disappointed when I discovered that… It’s great for recording guitar bc of how well the AUv3 works but not live.
@@JoelDodge yes those are also potential deal breakers for me, because that is exactly how I currently use Bias for live purposes. Doesn’t seem like it would be a massive update to add saving tempo to presets. So currently considering a hybrid Bias, Nembrini rig in AUM.
Yeah man I’m going to email them probably after the holidays though and see if they would be willing to add some way of controlling the bpm bc I think it would make thu a lot more appealing. That’s a great setup bc you can us all the fx in bias with nembrini amps. AUM is such a game changer for iOS
Hey, congratulations Joel !! ;) I'm glad you're hooked on THU, this is the best all-in-one for guitarists on iOS imho. Rigs are so powerful! Just an idea (not a criticism at all), I think you should maybe orient your next JD’s packs for THU focused on a rig, for example, since THU IAPs are not the cheapest on the market and there are so many. Im sure most people use to pick a few rig packs, components or bundles. I don't know if my idea is clear lol... sorry. This is for me the advantage and disadvantage of THU, very complete, maybe too much so .. Contrats, again!
Thanks! I get what you’re saying and really appreciate the feedback. I thought about doing it that way but was a little disappointed with how limited all the packs are but I could do something like that in the future. What packs do you use?
@@JoelDodge I mainly use the Twin65, Srev, Vocs30, 3 big classics, with the FX bundle. I wasn't saying that to encourage you to make specific packs for me or anyone. I'm not even a preset guy, got only 3 presets. I just use the 3 amps - clean sound - + some pre-inserted classic FX that I turn on if needed. Then I adjust with EQing with FabFilter Pro-Q3. Yeah, that’s boring .. lol I was only thinking about the people buying your pack and who’re going to find out that they’re missing this and this and this to make it and tell « Hey Joel, I paid for your pack but I can’t use it without an extra IAP ». Again, I'm not criticizing, I just want to help with friendship and gratitude for your work ;) Ahhhh Im confusing, sorry Joel.
Hi Joel, sounds nice man 👍, I agree with Baptiste C, If I buy your THU presets, what IAP do I need additional to make it work, as I only have THU and NO. IAP’s 😫😌
@@fam.7971 To have access to the effects I used you would either need to get the premium bundle or download my presets and purchase the effects I used. That wasn't my intention though, I was thinking that people who purchased the full version of th-u would be the one's to get this product. I do still use bias and have some free patches in the tone cloud. (Search for "JD UA-cam Wet Dry" or "JDs Lofi"). but like I explained in my last video I use bias for live performance and Th-u for recording. I really appreciate y'alls feedback though and am going to try coming up with a more affordable Th-u preset option.
Hey I'm doing well I had another baby she's 10 months old now and my business has been growing. Both of those things are great but my life is so much busier than it was. Just haven't had extra time to work on videos. At some point I will definitely get back to at least releasing music, videos are fun too but we'll see. Thanks for checking in!
@@JoelDodge Good deal. I was worried, shouldn't have been, but it had been a while since you uploaded. I also use an iPad pro for my guitar playing/recording and your videos brought great ideas and insight. Congrats on the new(er) baby. I have two kids myself and they are a handful. Thanks for the reply. Stay healthy and happy. God bless!
I bought TH-U and to be honest.....I was sorely disappointed; what a rip off. You don't actually adjust the knobs on the stomp boxes; a little side screen comes up with cheap looking sliders. It's pretty lame. I bought the Fx pack, but there's NO TUNER. Something basic like a tuner should just be part of the app free. The quality of the Fx are weak too. I wanted a harmonizer.....and they have one BUT....it doesn't have simple things like a pitch adjustment. Harmonizers have been out for DECADES, they're not new......so look at the best and reproduce the functionality. This includes a small pitch adjustment in what's called 'cents' or semitones, which "thickens" the sound and makes it sound more like 2 or more instruments. Their harmonizer doesn't have this. Most harmonizers also have delays built in, for the same reason; a very small delay 'thickens' the sound and makes it sound more like 2 instruments. Their product doesn't have this. IMHO......Save your money. It's more batter than cake. They need to go back to the drawing board......these Fx have been around for YEARS and DECADES, there shouldn't be ANY REASON not to have the same functionality you get in a stomp box, rack mounted processor or even in a multi-fx processor. Their product is pretty lame.
I agree with you about a lot of the things you're saying, I mentioned some of them in my ios guitar fx comparison video from a few weeks back. I don't think th-u is for everyone but some people like it and own it, these presets are for them (Please don't purchase Th-u for my presets!) Despite all its short comings I think Th-u sounds good and the AUV-3 capabilities work very well. Which makes it a cool option for recording once you've tweaked some presets. But thanks for sharing your experience because it's definitely not for everyone and I know there are people that would feel the way you do if they got it. Bias FX 2 definitely offers a more polished and professional experience.
Cheers Joel, always enjoying your videos. Congrats with your product release, very cool man 👊
Really appreciate you man!

Also the tuner in th-u is accessed by pressing the icon at the top left corner. It’s easy to miss…
