Imo TH-U is the one of the best standalone software in industry, better than BIAS FX and Amplitube.
Not saying its better, but it definitely kicks ass!!! I use it more than the others.
I prefer the sound of Helix Native.
I am so tired of the amp sims as trying to get anything approaching clean realism I can't. Even the clean presets use distortion so not sure how that is clean.
@@generalawareness101 I get awesome cleans with many of my plug-in amps. Most notable is the clean channel on the NaLex Ninja amp. It's breathtaking, crystal clear, sharp. You would fail the blind test.
@@jimmygrant3151 I have heard great things about that amp sim. Imo, and other amp simulators I just never liked for cleans.
I use TH-U all the time for live performances but I use nearly all clean for my stuff. There are so many options. Rig Player is great. I have a Behringer FCB1010 foot controller setup to control the various “stomp” boxes, volume and MU Wah speed. I balance TH-U with my backing tracks so I simply plug my audio interface into the PC, guitar into the audio interface, audio interface into the PA very simple setup. It all works brilliantly.
I was considering TH-U, and this video made me get it. Having used cheap modeling amps my whole life, I'm just blown away. This is amazing.

So I have TH-U, and pretty much all the other high end amp sims to compare with. I also have a Kemper with a boat load of profiles, a Helix, and Torpedo Studio with 50-100W amp heads (Marshall JCM 900, Marshall DSL, Orange Rockerverb III, Mesa Dual Rec, Mesa Stilleto Deuce, and a Vox AC100CPH). I'd say 95% of the time I simply use TH-U. The product is exceptional, easy to use, and sounds phenomenal. The included modeling is great, but the best part are the profiles you can get. With TH-U you get the best of both worlds - the modeling and the profiling.

I'd never heard of this, but I'm really impressed. The ability to change out tubes, and even turn an amp into solid state, really sell this one. If there's a demo/trial, I'll definitely be checking it out.

I was the same...never heard of it until it was mentioned in a few comments...really impressive - AND there is a whole section I accidentally kinda missed in this video...they do these Rig Libraries which are pretty much profiled amps...some of them sound really good!!

I really like Overloud, it's actually been my go to plugin even over Neural DSP (Nolly and Gojira), Amplitude 5 and Nembrini. So many options and presets. Pretty much sounds great on any guitar. Also, love the Ormsby. I also have a 7 GTR Hype and its great. Run 6 natural. Plays like a dream. I love your playing style. Was fun to jam along with you while you demo'd this.
This is a great review! Next you could do a whole separate video on just the Rig Library portion of THU...this is where the real gems live!

I just downloaded the demo version and I am blown away... It sounds absolutely gorgeous and feels awesome !! I really like that they have so many presets that are actually very usable and great starting points. This is with Neural DSP Nolly, the best sounding and best guitar plugins on the Market !!!
how is it compared to neural stuff?? is it worth buying if you already have DSP??
I have tried many softwares such as biasfx2, amplitube5, guitar rig6, etc but neural Dsp and Overloud THU are the best that I have currently tried I use more THU than the others it is really incredible the sound it has
Same, I've been on a long journey discovering amp sims, tried all the ones you've listed right here, I ultimately chose TH-U too.
Give ML Sound Labs a try if you like Neural. :).
Hi there mate! The reason there's so much bass in some presets, is that TH3/THU have a cabinet feature called "Respire", that heavily boosts the low end for solo playing, you can deactivate it in the cabinet options, i think it's right click or double click on cabinet or something of the sort.

yes respire reduce the bass but best is when in the main settings the bass is reduced then it reduce for alle presets the bass. I test th-u long time ago. i think it sound not good. mistake this amps have the simulate and compare with a amp at maybe 90-100 db. then sound good. but mix and master level or room volume is a around 75-80 db. on this middle volume should sound good
Sound great!! I never play with a interface and amp sim ...but i want to buy one...i can buy a focusrite 2i2 3 gen, axe io solo, audient id4 ...what do you think??
I've had TH-U for quite a while, I've just discovered the Rigs. I've bought a lot of the other amps but these rigs are pretty cool. I wonder what the best rig is. I like high gain as well as old clean blues sounds like from the old Fender amps. I bought American Classics, Silver Jubilee, BHS METLX, Rock Guy Boston Schultz gear.. I am Demoing Eric Gales, and MF T&B 3Classics. Not 100% on these yet.. 🤔

the best feature of th-u is the rig player - now, also the supercabinet. pretty much the same amps, and many others, sampled through kemper style ir technology. both, stuff that you've missed.

In this video I was trying to see how easy it is to navigate the interface and to get some descent sounds without knowing anything about TH-U...and general overall first impressions!
@@TSFAHTPS try it, it's worth it.
TH-U is the guitar VST I prefer (and I have Helix Native, bias and others).
It is sad the ReSPiRe is ON by defaut, always double click on the cab to set it OFF. It is something to render like an amp in the room but I don't like it, it has too much bass and the sound is like backwards.
Without that, THU is the VST that gives me a direct feeling like my real amp (maybe because the latency is low), and the overdrives sound very natural to me.
The rigs libraries are good too (but it is a trap, I already purchased many choptones packs), but the modeled amps are too, I compared a twin captured rig with the default twin, and with the same cab it can go very close.
I did not try the supercabinet because I already have many cabinets with Torpedo Wall Of Sound and I am happy with it.
I’m late to the party. Missed this one. How would compare this to the Neural DSP stuff?
I use Amplitube and THU but my impression is that Amplitube sound better : could be THU need of a dedicate EQ for improve ? Seem be to much lows around 70-100 Hz and missing some high frequency ...any suggest ?

Better than Guitar Rig 6?
I am thinking about getting this to use (in combination with the Guitar instrument Shreddage 3 Hydra VST) but was wondering if it was possible, or if you'd know how to replicate the sound Evanescence uses for the main guitar leads in the song "whisper" - here's a link to the song I'm referring to.

I am trying to figure out how to recreate this exact sound for a Russian scene I am working on in a feature film for the history channel.. Would you by chance know? I believe they used a 4x12 mesa boogie setup - but I'm still new to the guitar side of things.. but trying to learn.
I have been just comparing it to Helix Native and Tonex and THU wins in many amps. Helix is tricky to get nice sounds. I don't get the hype beyond the effects.
The cleans and fx are pretty sweet but the rythym tones are no good for metal in my opinion. Probably because of the irs

Interesting but it’s AmpliTube 5 with amazing graphics and sounds make ik multimedia way better in my opinion!🙂
Amplitube has only graphics, the cabinet system and the official amps going for it. In every single other aspects is way more limited than Overloud.
First, overloud TH-U takes seconds to open, meanwhile Amplitube 5 takes around a minute. Its a pain if you use the software to just play casually.
Second, TH-U lets you put how many modules you want. Want a amp to be a preamp for another amp? You can. Want chorus before and after? You can. Want 9 EQs right after eachother? You can. Meanwhile amplitube 5 is very grid locked and you also have limit, for example only 10 modules before the amp, 5 on FX-loop and 2 at the end of the chain.
The looper in Amplitube 4 was the best i've found in any amp software, meanwhile the looper in amplitube 5 is the same as overloud's but its harder to use.
All in all, only thing amplitube has is graphics, the cabinet system and the official amps. The rest, overloud is better.

I have a lot of plugins: but for me TH-U is more CPU friendly, but also have amplitube 5, Bias FX2, Neural DSP: Gojira, Plini, Nolly, Nameless, Granophyre, NTS, Line 6 Helix Native, ML Sound Amped Roots and Stevie T, Kazrog Thermionik, Vadim Taranov, Nalex Software Amp Sims, LePou, Tonelib GFX, Hotone Vstomp, Kuassa 360, Cornflower Redcurrant, Lost in the 70s Amp Sims, JST Toneforge, STL Tonallity, Audio Assault Hellbeast v2, Nembrini Amps Sims, TSE x50, etc. and all depends of the type of sound you're looking for.
But TH-U is one of my favorites, the latest update is great, best regards, nice review, cheers !
