Here she comes, the future Happy Christmas and a happy new year to ye all! Its 1990, forget about the past, were gonna celebrate the future Where the streets have no name
I listened to this gig on radio as it happened, on my 18th birthday , my mum and dad had split up on Christmas Eve and I'll never forget the opening to this with the bells ringing out
This is "by far" the best live version ever of this song. No one comes even close to it. Not even the Slane castle, super bowl or Boston '01 versions. The intro plus edge's guitar, Larry's drums, Adam's bass and Bono's voice they all have an intensity, strength and power never seen in the future versions. I use to listen it at very high volume and every single time I get goose bumps. This one is EPIC!!!
This was Sunday, I was at the Wednesday show the 27th December, Balcony seats overlooking the stage, I was 16 & it was so loud i lost my hearing for about 36 hours afterwards, Golden memories that can`t be bought..
Proof that U2 doesn't need hi-tech gadgetry to be an emotional powerhouse! This was the band at it's greatness...the 80's...whereas today, they are lost and hide under immense stage productions...although cool to look at, the music has lost some of its raw edge that it once had.

I am a big fan of U2, 25 years now. I am looking for video/dvd of U2@point depot on december 30, 1989 for months now, nowhere to be found. That was the day before this gig and it was the gig that Bono gave his "dream it all up again" speech. Deacmacedo, do you have this, or anyone else ? Sad…
This music is the first those show?
I was at this show when they came on stage there was this massive surge forward. All you could do was hold on and enjoy the ride😀

What about the version at Sun devil stadium, temple arizona, rattle and hum tour?
Superbowl is a close second for me, but yes, this is the best one.
that's true, also has the best BAD version of all, Bono's voice was on fire.
Happy New Year to ye all!
2022, here we come!
You too my friend. “forget about the past” let’s do this!
I wish there was a tv channel that would play this every New Year's Eve!
Me too
Wow, yeah! That would be an amazing way to start a New Year!
Só hoje, 30 de março de 2023 já devo ter escutado umas 50 vezes a introdução dessa música. Que coisa mais linda!
Was at the Dec 27th concert, only 15 years of age at the time.. it still stands out as the best moment of my life! This was U2 in their prime....
Brilliant!
Heard it on Dutch radio (KRO) on 01-01-1990.
Still have the cassette tapes.
I recorded this on my ghetto box - also in NL. My tape wore out over the years but I'm glad it showed up again here!
Amazing. Also, Edge out there looking like he just got back from auditioning for Pirates of the Caribbean.
I was at the Wednesday show on the 27th first concert ever, just turned 16, still a fan 35 years later!
"Forget our past. We're gonna celebrate the future..."

Hi, yes, of course! This is part of a live broadcast footage. Please send me the link to your podcast when you have it. I'd love to watch it.
Anyone else notice that the guy counting down skipped eleven?
That guy was Dave Fanning a DJ on Irish radio responsible for giving U2 it’s first break. If he hadn’t then who knows.
Epic moment! ='D

Edge had horrible dress sense back then. He looks like a hick scarecrow :)
