A further irony is how these same people who lionize diversity don't actually seem to value diversity of opinion or ideology very much, as is clear from their all too frequent desire to label as a thoughtcrime anything that doesn't jibe with their particular set of beliefs, even when hard scientific data contradicts them.

This is comparable to many Hispanic/Latin people who have a lot of European ancestry. They are still hispanic/latinx. Every type of environment has different evolutionary pressures. "skin tone" Its not a skin tone . . its a evolutionary adaptation to high uv, descendants are more likely to survive in warm climates. The skin is specialised to certain conditions. Is it so hard to imagine the same can happen to intelligence? An environment that has multiple seasons with harsh winters is a pressure for the humans living in that area to plan forward. To create a model of the future and works towards achieving it (as farming crops and conserving them for the winter), this is a pressure for IQ, seeing that the humans that would not plan forward would just die out and not pass along their genes. This is only one of the many scenarios for clear radical differences on how the different types human races evolved. There is a reason why olympic long distance runners are almost always Ethiopians (black people in general overrepresent sports, even in white countries), there is a clear genetic advantage. Look at the average IQ differences between races, clear distinctions there aswell. Dont be a science denier, the data is there.

Beautiful to hear these stories (I liked the older, Indian-Italian couple as they seemed so comfortable around each other); it's disappointing to hear some people still see interracial relationships as a problem. I can appreciate there may be initial hesitation from families as there are cultural differences, but genuinely do not understand why other people (who do not know the couple) believe the relationship is wrong. My wife is African she was born in Zambia and we pretty much just let people stare at us. If you let people try to hurt you over a relationship it means they're either jealous or they don't like you. My own mother wanted control over everything in my life everyday and my wife god bless her soul showed me the love I really needed. I couldn't care less about how people call me names like disgusting or loser. I've made my choice in life and I intend to stay with it for the rest of my life.

I don't know anyone who did not learn about other cultures from reading a Nat Geo magazine as a kid. DNA testing and genetic genealogy really has taught me, as an American descendant of the Atlantic Slave Trade, color is truly "skin deep"; my mother's dna touches every continent,WOW! We can be so horridly tribal. That plays out in different ways, and focuses on different characteristics based on the modes then in play. Skin pigmentation is a common, cross-cultural and ancient theme because it’s an easy way to say who’s in and out of the “in-group.” (That’s what made Romans so odd. It’s one of the very few civilizations where skin color didn’t seem to have mattered. How one word a toga, or whether one wore a toga was much more important.) Race is a social construct that we are all subject to. Black men are more likely to date outside of their race and Black woman are 40% more likely to never be married. That’s because of history and one cannot go without interrogating peoples ideas of beauty through race and colorism. In a perfect world it would mean nothing and it should have never meant anything but here we are and it does matter. Study after study shows that African American woman are least likely to be contacted on dating sites and White men and woman are top choice for all races and sexuality. We can’t ignore that.

This is comparable to many Hispanic/Latin people who have a lot of European ancestry. They are still hispanic/latinx. Asia is a large continent and "asian" does not only mean people who are east asian.
India has all kind of peoples with different facial or skin features they may look like same to someone from other races but the genetics and dna is unique , most of indians whose ancestors are from this land has that same unique structure of dna. we should be in our own individual ethic group.

Is it so hard to imagine the same can happen to intelligence? An environment that has multiple seasons with harsh winters is a pressure for the humans living in that area to plan forward. To create a model of the future and works towards achieving it (as farming crops and conserving them for the winter), this is a pressure for IQ, seeing that the humans that would not plan forward would just die out and not pass along their genes.
This is only one of the many scenarios for clear radical differences on how the different types human races evolved.
There is a reason why olympic long distance runners are almost always Ethiopians (black people in general overrepresent sports, even in white countries), there is a clear genetic advantage. Look at the average IQ differences between races, clear distinctions there aswell. Dont be a science denier, the data is there.

Because of my skin color. They would tell him that I’m not “the right kind of girl for him”, before they even knew me. It’s heartbreaking to know that this is still a problem.

Beautiful to hear these stories (I liked the older, Indian-Italian couple as they seemed so comfortable around each other); it's disappointing to hear some people still see interracial relationships as a problem. I can appreciate there may be initial hesitation from families as there are cultural differences, but genuinely do not understand why other people (who do not know the couple) believe the relationship is wrong.
All the comments from people saying "This is 2018, this is not relevant!" must be lucky not to have experienced negative comments.
I have only have one significant other of the same race and have never really even thought about it . I've never dated a race, I have dated people.

@@phetsoisa I'm gonna be completely honest with you, I've dealt with mental abuse all my life from other kids and my own mother and step father who told me that I couldn't mount to anything in life and my wife is the one who helped me realize that. My wife is African she was born in Zambia and we pretty much just let people stare at us. If you let people try to hurt you over a relationship it means they're either jealous or they don't like you. My own mother wanted control over everything in my life everyday and my wife god bless her soul showed me the love I really needed. I couldn't care less about how people call me names like disgusting or loser. I've made my choice in life and I intend to stay with it for the rest of my life.

The comments bellow show how uncomfortable some people are with race. Trying to be blind to skin color would be like trying to be be blind to how old a person is or whether they are male or female. So beautiful. It's great that NatGeo, who has covered the ENTIRE WORLD for over 100 years, is doing this study and series. I don't know anyone who did not learn about other cultures from reading a Nat Geo magazine as a kid. DNA testing and genetic genealogy really has taught me, as an American descendant of the Atlantic Slave Trade, color is truly "skin deep"; my mother's dna touches every continent,WOW! Yet the world define her as "Black" or "African". I hate societies have taught so many to understand the Human existence by marginalizing our natural cognitive way of thinking; with centuries of strict codes, ideologies, customs,heritages, traditions, and religions that shelter us from experiencing diversity, and how diversity helps us better understand humanity.
I find this video puzzling. Is interracial marriage really a novelty? I've been in an 'interracial' marriage for 12 years and have two gorgeous interracial children. Nobody has ever mentioned the novelty of this, parents, friends, workmates etc everyone just thinks its normal. But perhaps it's because I live in London where if anything marrying inside your race is becoming the novel thing to do...

The yanks are still throwing around race even though all of us belong to the same race, which is one of the reasons why I'm glad that I live in Sweden and not U.S.A because none of either my co-workers or family except for my youngest sister (who dated an Iraqi guy for 6 years, so she can take her preconceptions and shove them) have said even one word about me dating a Filipina.

We can be so horridly tribal. That plays out in different ways, and focuses on different characteristics based on the modes then in play. Skin pigmentation is a common, cross-cultural and ancient theme because it’s an easy way to say who’s in and out of the “in-group.” (That’s what made Romans so odd. It’s one of the very few civilizations where skin color didn’t seem to have mattered. How one word a toga, or whether one wore a toga was much more important.) It’s just ridiculous in this day and age, with all the research and modes of knowledge and understanding that we have that we continue to play this ridiculous trope out over and over.

Race is a social construct that we are all subject to. Black men are more likely to date outside of their race and Black woman are 40% more likely to never be married. That’s because of history and one cannot go without interrogating peoples ideas of beauty through race and colorism. In a perfect world it would mean nothing and it should have never meant anything but here we are and it does matter. Study after study shows that African American woman are least likely to be contacted on dating sites and White men and woman are top choice for all races and sexuality. We can’t ignore that.
