The only way for California fires to stop is to burn down more trees not stop them. If trees begin to burn due to a spark like the Carr fire, it's likely that the cause of it is due to large amounts of volatile oil producing trees or pyrophytic trees in the region like pine trees and eucalyptus trees. Pyrophytic trees encourage the initiation of bushfires by producing these oils so that they can propagate their seeds around. Its how they have adapted to thrive and populate. The best way to fight against these fires is by conducting regular controlled burnings of tree dense regions to 1. lessen the volatile oil residue and 2. burn off branches and dry materials that can fuel the fire going. Controlled fires have already been shown to be an effective way of combating fires in Victoria Australia, British Columbia Canada and many other tree dense locations. This is known as controlled fires and prescribed burning respectively in Australia and Canada. If fires can be easily caused by a mere few sparks, educating people about 'being mindful of how we spark fires isn't going to help' because accidents happen. The best thing to do is to combat the problem first before it becomes problematic.

My father's SUV started a forest fire when a malfunctioning catalytic converter sent literal fireballs out of the exhaust. Fortunately, he was a couple miles from a Forest Service fire station and raced over there to inform them. They knocked out the fire before it got too big, only scorching a few acres. His auto insurance company paid the fire fighting costs, about $25,000. This happened in the early 90's.

This video didn’t answer the question. So the fires are started by the people that live in this new communities? Is it because of the drought? Climate change? The extra windy conditions. The answer shouldn’t be: more houses more fires. That doesn’t make any sense.
in the past there used to be more controlled burns to prevent this sort of thing from happening.but due to a politician making it illegal to control burn and cutting funding from fire management to the point the fire fighters can only put out fires instead of prevent them.add on top of that a ton of very cheaply made houses and you've got recipe for one small spark from anything can cause a massive wild fire. a very small spark from a bbq or lightening bolt could easily cause these fires cause of how fire prone california is.
There's a subtle problem with this (something I learned more about when I went to Smokey The Bear Museum in Capitan NM recently): some forest fires are better for the forest than others. If regular brush fires are allowed and don't spark crown fires, then the areas underneath the older growth trees will be cleared more regularly. True, population moving into these areas makes this worse, as *allowing* a smaller fire might be politically untenable, but the really bad huge crown fires can be prevented and regular underbrush can be cleared without harming old growth trees. Maybe pass legislation that if you're in a moderately high fire area, then small brush fires can be allowed up to maybe 200' of your property and that property owners would be responsible for clearing underbrush on the remaining area closer to the house. Also, I'm just a UA-cam comment, what do I know?
Vox always feels like an educational advertisement, its just enough information/content to make you say "that is interesting" but never enough to make you feel like you should take them seriously.
My Thoughts you obviously don’t know what it actually is... And most scientists never said that the planet would be underwater by now, only some more alarmist people said that. Right now the sea level is increasing by 1 Centimeter each year, which is not much, but over time (like 100 years, it will add up. And also, there’s no denying that the Arctic is melting, so much so that they’re already having some cargo ships go through the northwest passage (a route through the north of Canada which is projected to be be Ice free by 2050). And also Russia is already planning some military bases in the artctic in the future to secure their claims for oil there (once the ice melts, it will be much easier to access the oil there.) The only thing conservatives actually argue about is if it’s natural, or caused by humans (which it definitely is caused by humans, since from just 1970 to now, the arctic ice sheet has shrunk so much in a short period of time geologically)
Sensei Adam Look into the Geoengineering of the planet and weather manipulation. Before climate change can be discussed at any level, this must be considered. The fires all across the west are no accident. Homes with tile roofs don't completely turn into dust. Fires cannot burn that hot in open air where oxygen is the fuel. This is why bodies won't burn to ash unless in an oxygen starved furnace.
Wrong. How about people moving into historically dry areas, that shouldn't be inhabited by humans who are often times negligent. Or did you not watch the video? Keep blaming the boogeyman.
I live in the city where the Holy Fire was started. I woke up that day, looked out the window, and saw most of the sky filled with a dark cloud of smoke. We got evacuation notices, but thanks to the firefighters (and the wind blowing the opposite direction), they were able to contain it away from all the homes (on this side of the forest at least).
In Sweden this summer, the Government banned all fire making in all properties. For a while even using a grill was banned! We had to fly in planes and helicopters from other nations to help put out our fires.
Because California needs to repent and apologise to the Lord Jesus Christ for rejecting Him by trying to pass laws to ban the Bible and replacing it with uncleanness and abominable living.
POintless POints T J tesla is failing and Michigan and other states have startups all the time... the California economy, thanks to all of federal contracts like nasa, airplane jobs, military bases, national parks, top secret facilities, not to mention social and corporate welfare ongoing handouts is what keeps California humming . This is what happens when you have unfairly the most electoral votes in America. Too add a lot of Californias economy are supported by rich foreigners living in your state not to mention the free federal dollars from the USA census data. California includes all of the illegals inflating the numbers to get even more federal $$$$-suppose to include Americans only...$now California will get our money for your fires even if you have insurance. Again you can thanks rest of America for our money. By the way 3 cities filed bankruptcy this year in California and even your state has considered that. California came in dead last for quality of life standards too. Facts..
Shannon Sharpe California fire is so bad that we can’t even used consumer fireworks legal way but we have to do it illegal way and big while New Mexico is dry asf them consumer fireworks are legal and Arizona and part of Nevada can’t even use them in Las Vegas you can’t use the fireworks but outside the whole county or city you can use them legally
Well for numerous reasons. I do think Climate Change plays some role, but the main reason is California does a horrific job with forest management. Arizona on the other hand does an excellent job with forest management.
You mentioned nothing about one of the other very severe problems, our old system of never letting some fires burn in controlled ways, creating huge stockpiles of fuel. Firefighting has started to catch on to the idea that fires are often a lot worse because of the past hundred years of firefighting techniques. That doesn't exculpate any of the other causes, but it's a major one too.
"Oh yes I have a great idea! Let's move to CA where it's always hot and sunny cuz cancer and dehydration are myths! Oh yeah and ignore the homeless people that's because of Trump and totally not because of apartments costing as much as small houses."
As a professinal Arborist with two Forestry degrees, I have to say on top of the USFS suppression policies, Enviornmentalists have stopped logging in states like CA to save animals like the spotted owl. With droughts, trees are “stressed” meaning they don’t have all the resources to defend from insects and pathogens. Invasive insects have pillaged much of the west turning more trees into tinder. Coupled with the Santa Ana winds, this is a recepie for a blaze. We must have some way of clearing the forest floor. Many tree species out there require low intensity fires for seed dispersal. The problem is these high intensity fires burn the minerals right out of the soil, limiting the chance for things to grow if anything survives the blaze. So the problem is us, however it is not going to be solved by people being less negligent. It can only be solved by people who realize the environment is incredibly complex and there is no “solution” in the truest sense of the term, rather a series of more or less desirable outcomes. This video is an oversimplified to a fault. This is a miltivariate problem and their proposed solution is to stop moving into woodlands?
I live in southern Oregon and currently have two 50K-acre fires within about 15 miles from my front door. These two fires are a couple days away from joining together. These were started by a lightning storm we had in mid-July. Vox has negated to mention one of the really big reasons these fires are getting so big -- FOREST DENSITY. Forests are getting so dense that it makes it virtually impossible to get to fires to put them out. Also, this makes fires burn hotter and move much more quickly. Ever since logging here was severely crippled in the early 2000's, large forest fires have become more and more frequent. We've had choking smoke from surrounding fires every single summer since 2011. I've lived here all but 5 years of my life, and it was never this bad up until a few years after logging was cut back. Bringing logging back to the area would greatly reduce the sheer size of these fires.
I live in the small town of Rimouski,on the shores of the St-Lawrence river Québec,Canada. This summer was incredibly hot, never saw that, lasted for days and wildfire began to spread in the woods around the town.It never happened before! Two water bomber landed on the airfield and lasted a few weeks and I saw them in the air a few times with helicopter patrol. But in the northern part of Québec, wildfire are usual and in the Mauricie region too.One time in the Mauricie region, there was a wildfire 200 - 300 km south of a town called La-Tuque,it was named the Monster,I was in vacation there during this time and we could see the smoke from the town
That is your warning to get out because psychopathic people are taking California down. I learned that at ua-cam.com/video/qr4MDt2CjCE/v-deo.html Fukushima: USA and UK Monarchy is behind the radiation genocide This lady speaking on this youtube says for sure HAARP caused Fukushima, so why not the fires?
You mentioned another science channel at the end of your video, but didn't link it in the description or anything. I can't understand what you are saying, can you please link that channel?
It's important to buy a home next to fire hydrants and with multiple different routes leading down the mountain. Both my next door neighbors homes have burnt to the ground in the last 15 years. I have a fire hydrant in my backyard and front which has allowed for water to be sprayed on my roof from 2 opposite directions saving my house both these times. Once the fire made it to bushes 4 ft at most from my bedroom. I notice my house is sadly in the red zone for fire risk, but at least I have two roads to choose for my escape.
The common dry brush such as seen at 1:15 is NOT a native California plant. It was brought over by the Spanish in the 1500's to feed their horses. Green in Winter, dry as a bone in Summer. The seeds spread like wildfire itself, and there are now trillions of acres of this stuff across the state.

Meanwhile in new york places have been flooded for weeks
just push california to NY and makes a hot water flood instead
I do too and it is
What if everything you’ve been told about the sources and causes of these fires are lies?
In Sweden this summer, the Government banned all fire making in all properties. For a while even using a grill was banned! We had to fly in planes and helicopters from other nations to help put out our fires.
“Only WHO can prevent forest fires?”
A) YOU
B) ME
Why is America always on drugs?!
Because we have to put up with people like you!
You mean dumb down?!
Why is California always on fire?
Me: because we lit
Apocalypse..predicted in Holy Scriptures, Book of Revelation..destruction that's Apocalyptic!!!!
Because California needs to repent and apologise to the Lord Jesus Christ for rejecting Him by trying to pass laws to ban the Bible and replacing it with uncleanness and abominable living.
Because you lit what?
oh god no please don’t ever say that what are you 12?
In Oregon we have to deal with California’s smoke
I thought the title said, "why is Hotel California always fire"
POintless POints Because once you listen to it you can't never leave
Facts..
Now go to Australia or Europe where “wildfires” have been worse than California for the past 20 years.
Watching this now in 2020 after that lighting storm.

FIRE TORNADO INCOMING!
There are 100s of things that they didn't mention. This is a 3-minute internet video after all, not an hour-long documentary.
Yeah lets treat underbrush as a "habitat" and not remove it right environuts ? That's California Smart.
I've never seen a dumpster fire on this scale
That's sooooo sad am thinking about the animals also😭😭😭😭😭😭
Humans aren't effecting global temperature. We have always have weather fluctuations, even extreme ones long before there were cars.
sounds like just shady developers clearing land, so they can build more~!
Fire season??? Predictive programming at work.
"Oh yes I have a great idea! Let's move to CA where it's always hot and sunny cuz cancer and dehydration are myths! Oh yeah and ignore the homeless people that's because of Trump and totally not because of apartments costing as much as small houses."
Because everyday is judgement day. You must pay for every sin.
ToyotaGuy1971 exactly
Racism is great for America, ask Trump.
Florida: Hey guys what's up
New York: Business as usual
Texas: Nothing
California: I'm on fire again
Florida: oh do you need help

Yo-
Warm winters hot dry summers and no dying trees being cut down
I live in southern Oregon and currently have two 50K-acre fires within about 15 miles from my front door.
The real question is how can you make so many videos everyday! I like it, I'm not complainig.
California is on fire
Cuz he carries your team in overwatch
We need a real life Smokey the bear over here
*smoked bear*
The Krusty Krab on fire was my portrayal of California in my United States Portrayed by SpongeBob video.
Well they could stop them by their weather machine. They can create rain but they don't
*_Now that's a lotta damage!_*
Its the same in Norway and Sweden
Mathias Dahle Johannessen I’m from Sweden.

Just tax the heck out of everything flammable until it leaves the state!

Blunts and joints not being put out
Cause we stay lit 🔥🔥🔥
I’ll see my way out
Laferious Dequarius 😂
I read an article about how natural forests are typically burnt around once every 50 to 150 years or so.
Has anyone else read something like that?
You mentioned another science channel at the end of your video, but didn't link it in the description or anything. I can't understand what you are saying, can you please link that channel?

Australia and California have one thing in common: Eucalyptus trees, which catch fire very easily.
Sry my mixtape is just too lit 🔥🔥🔥

Because liberals
Did they mention something about the usual "we are putting out wildfires, leading to increased tree density, worsening forest fires?"
