If you're struck by fire as a spy though, 9/10 times you've been earmarked for death because afterburn fucks with Spy more so than most other forms of damage. Having a counter to Spy's greatest threat can be useful, since if your got hit by fire with any other knife, barring the DR which isn't always online, you are fucked. The Spycicle gives you a chance to survive the otherwise near guaranteed death by fire, which beats a 20 second respawn

@@anthonyirwin6627 fair enough, but it’s not like the spy-cicle is the only way to deal with afterburn; the conniver's kunai does the same thing on backstab and you still get to keep your primary
Also this isn’t super well known but there’s a bug where if you disguise/undisguise while you’re on fire, the afterburn particles will disappear, so if you need to get away from a pyro, that can be just as reliable, assuming the afterburn won’t kill you

I always saw the quick fix as a bad team medigun. If your team keeps dieing and you can't heal them in time this medigun will make you able to. It trades pushes with uber or stock for better support in normal fights.

I think the opposite in my opinion. It allows you to heal more players faster so if you are a solo medic with a team that desperately needs healing it is pretty useful. And the Uber allows you to quickly heal up multiple players during a push. I just wish the Uber didn’t drain faster between players. And as a solo medic you will die a lot so less risk and importance in losing Uber is definitely good.

    • @isenokami7810

On one hand, I see it instead as the “I really want to keep my team healed” medigun, which certainly fits my values when playing him. Faster healing means keeping as many people topped off as possible. On the other, I did indeed name and describe my Quick Fix along the “my team sucks” lines. Particularly during Scream Fortress, kinda need the extra healing to stop the bleeding from spells.

    • @irregularassassin6380
      @irregularassassin6380 5 місяців тому

My core memory of the Quick-Fix is from a brutal CP_Well match I fought early in my career as a Medic main. I already knew about it, and how to use it, and it was absolutely the right choice for the entire match, but especially the final push.
The teams were evenly matched, and after a long back and forth, my team managed to capture and actually hold the enemy's first point for more than five seconds. What felt like the entire team was crowded onto the point, all below 50% health, all screaming Medic, and all terrified of the incoming spawn wave.
If I had any other medi gun, we would have gotten destroyed either waiting for me to heal everyone enough for a push when the enemies came, or if we pushed too soon and I attempted to pocket someone. However, I had the Quick-Fix, and I was on lock. I rapidly switched between a few priority heal targets, so they could provide defense while I built my charge, then slammed that charge into every single member of the team. I blasted us all back to full health. The team went from kinda scrambling around in a panic, to a surprised realization that we could actually make another push right away. So, we pushed as a unit into another tough defense, and captured last. Boom. Job's a good-un.
The Quick-Fix is absolutely a recovery tool, but it's also a proactive pushing tool. Ubers create a lot of space by making one man (hopefully a powerful and accurate one) shiny, but the Quick-Fix can let you make all your men _beefy_ before throwing them against a pile of decidedly _less beefy_ men. It then lets you keep more of those men beefy. It's a numbers game medi gun, and the most team-focused medi gun. It definitely fares better in longer-range team engagements, and against classes like Heavy who use continual damage instead of massive burst damage.
My sole gripe with it is that it's sound design runs counter to its intended purpose! It has a very loud activation sound, which plays whenever you start a beam. Whether you're activating charge or not, you should be switching targets frequently, and the sound can get really aggravating! It really belongs on the Kritzkrieg, or something, or just needs a rework. In a vacuum, I like the sound, but the Quick Fix deserves a smoother sound profile so I'm not rewarded with a cheese grater on my eardrums for playing correctly.

It's not the best for preparing for a fight, but if you have a panic attack and click the five players around you constantly you can keep them all alive much easier than with the other options. Actual active fights are just so much easier with a quick fix around

i think the association of the air strike and base jumper makes people not use it to it's full extent. it gives you faster firing speed while rocket jumping, meaning you can fire more rockets while bombing, and the splash radius reduction is increased during a blast jump. staying in the air longer to fire more rockets that already come out faster while you have high ground doesn't make sense to me. it pairs far better w/ the gunboats.

The thing about the Airstrike is that you don't have to be soaring high over the battlefield, vulnerable to snipers. You only need be off the ground even a little to get the jumping bonuses. So you can make a short jump as you approach a corner at some random height and unload as you peek around it.

  • @Vaniity_Velvet
    @Vaniity_Velvet 7 місяців тому +1

Quick-Fix is interesting because it's kind of like a less punishing Vaccinator. Once that uber has been popped, you might as well run away. A Quick-Fix uber on a Heavy, the only thing that can reliably stop that is a Soldier, Demo or Spy. Sniper as well, but chances are the Ubered Heavy isn't going to rush a sight-line. The small overheal it provides is what pushes it over the edge. I usually don't feel bad for Pyro, his entire shtick is being as annoying as possible, but against a Quick-Fix uber he's basically shut down. He can't even push them away. Everything he does they will just instantly out heal.
But, I wouldn't say it's broken. You can't really push sentries with it and Spike damage and Insta-Kills are still lethal. It fills the exact same niche that the Vaccinator does without feeling completely helpless to fight. You have options against it. Where's with the Vaccinator you're actively punished for even trying to fight it and the only true counter it has is the least reliable class (And I suppose Sub-Class) in the game. Spy (And Demo-Knight respectively.)

Most Snipers don't use the Sydney Sleeper because the Sydney Sleeper is not as good as any other rifle (Specifically the Bargain) if you're good at Sniper
Really the only saving grace the weapon has is the charge rate being slightly faster, because the jarate effect is too short to have any meaningful impact. If you want the benefit of extra charge, then learn how to get good with Sniper and start using the Bazaar Bargain more. Once you've honed your skills at headshotting, the Sydney Sleeper becomes borderline useless

  • @Vanux867
    @Vanux867 7 місяців тому +2

The thing with the Sydney Sleeper is that it just isn't nearly as quick and snappy as the other options. It kinda reminds me of the Classic, where you certainly get a nice piece of utility, but it's just... slow.

    • @irregularassassin6380

They also really don't get coated in piss for that long. If you see your team struggling with a particular opponent, quickscoping a body shot applies piss for almost no time, and headshoting them will probably just kill them.
I almost feel like the applied jarate duration should be inverse to charge time, though that would let Sniper just apply pee to the entire team very quickly.
Maybe it needs a charge-and-activation system like the Hitman's Heatmaker? Or a slowly recharging piss bar that consumes 25% on a piss shot, or something? Anything to make the jarate effect more impactful.

There is no one uses the Sydney sleeper‘s because you can deal 150 damage with a Quick scope headshot. That’s the exact damage value you praise this weapon for. And stock deals it in .2 seconds. The bazaar bargain can charge even faster than that, 450 damage in 1 second(don’t quote me on that). It’s underrated because it’s outclassed entirely. The sydney sleeper has plenty of issues, it's not that good of a weapon, and it's a shame because it's actually a pretty unique weapon and the playstyles it *could* encourage would be cool to see.
As it stands these are the issues with the sleeper
-The minicrits are kind of redundant. You can kill 5 out of the 9 classes in the game with a fully-charged body shot already, and as the jarate duration scales with charge you're not going to apply jarate to most targets, you're just going to kill them.
-Even when the minicrits would matter, the duration is too short. Jarate as a secondary is impactful (or it would be if most snipers weren't selfish bastards that don't notice they have a buff banner on a 20 sec cooldown) because it applies the effect over a large area with a noticeable duration. If someone gets hit with jarate they're going to disengage or immediately seek out a medic (which can't heal all the people that are coated in jarate at once). But the sleeper, when fully charged just gives out 5 seconds of minicrits to one sole target, and that duration scales down if the shot wasn't fully charged. Jarate from the sydney sleeper is not an issue most of the time in the same way that afterburn is not an issue most of the time, the duration is short and getting rid of it isn't going to be as much of an issue.
-Hardscoping is not good. If you're going to make the most of the sleeper you need to hard scope, which is not particularly good against other snipers. the other sniper has to not notice you or entirely miss you, the slow moving target, for you to be able to kill (which you need to hard scope to do.)
The sleeper is just not a particularly good weapon, it gets some cool stuff from being able to combo with the smgs but overall it's not as much as a support gun as people make it out to be.

I think that scorch shot is a good weapon to use since just one click and it’s a snipe on 6 people on the enemy team on fire when your on the other side of the map and when spy’s exist you can use your flamethrower then use it when they get to far for a little mini crit plus maybe hitting another enemy

there's 2 notable things i'd like to mention regarding the Cleaner's Carbine that i think you might find quite noteworthy:
    1. when mini-crit effects are activated, the Cleaner's Carbine actually barely has any DPS difference compared to stock SMG. this is true EXCEPT for mid/long range, wherein your primary weapon already excels at.
    therefore...
    2. i prefer to use Cleaner's Carbine in combination with the Bushwacka, as that weapon turns mini-crits into full crits. which is worthwhile since the Cleaner's Carbine mini-crits translates to all your weapons during the duration of its effect.
so what i like to do is sneak behind enemy lines after filling my mini-crit meter, then find a sizeable yet distracted group of enemies for me to sneak behind & kill one by one with my Bushwacka almost like a Spy... the "Spyper"... one might say.
this is actually a more effective strategy than instead of using Jarate, since the Jarate may not splash all enemies AND the Jarate's visual HUD effects warns the enemies of you incoming beforehand.
    very useful & fun!

The thing about the Sydney Sleeper that I never hear anyone talk about is the faster charge time. it has a faster charge time than the stock sniper rifle, by default, with no damage penalty besides the lack of full crit headshots. That is HUGE!!! That gives you an insane advantage where you can just come out of the spawn room with faster charging, unlike the bazaar bargain where you need to get 2 headshots to break even. Where the Sydney Sleeper has the equivalent of 3 heads with the bargain right out of the gate. People call the Machina a body-shot machine because of the increased damage on fully charged shots, but the sleeper can pump out fully charged body shots faster than any other rifle besides a fully headed Bazaar Bargain.

I'm gonna say it. I think the Gas Passer is actually underrated.
Ever since the summer update dropped, where the Gas Passer was buffed to finally count as wet for the Neon Annihilator, I have been playing Pyro with Dragon's Fury + Gas Passer + Neon Annihilator for almost every game.
Is it almost universally outclassed by the Scorch Shot outside of a few things?
    Absolutely.
Is it still in need of a massive buff?
Absolutely, preferably making the effect more powerful.
But having used it a bunch, I'm surprised at how many kills I have gotten from the Gas Passer itself and how useful it can be despite its many flaws.
It gets a bad rep only because the flare guns exist and fill the niche of long afterburn while being immediately available, but if look at the gas passer on its own, its not that bad.
The Dragon's Fury recharges the gas passer real quickly, while at the same time filling the niche the flare guns have by igniting players, so its the DF is the best primary for the gas passer.
Additionally, this makes fighting Pyros more consistent as the gas passer allows you to put them on fire.
Obviously pairs well with the Neon Annihilator and makes it so you can easily beat most classes (sides Heavy and really healthy Soldiers) in a melee fight.
But an often overlooked at positive of the Dragon's Fury is discouraging enemy players from simply staying around. No one wants to step in the gas passer cloud and will hold back. Doing so also often means they'll focus in that direction from where the gas passer is, as everyone assumes you'll come from that side. However a tactic I like to do is throw it from 1 angel and then flank them while the enemy is distracted too.
On top of that, because of the lingering effect, I can keep my Dragon's Fury out in a fight instead of switching to a flare, which is actually handy, more so than you'd think. It means a Soldier at medium range is easier to reflect because I don't have to focus on hitting him with a flare.
I'm actually shocked that people compare this weapon to stickers like the Bison or Pompson, simply because its outclassed by the flare guns in 90% of situations, even when it has useful attributes.

i think the reason of why the Sydney Sleeper is barely used it's because experienced snipers rely more on quickscope headshots than on charge: There's very little reason to wait a few seconds to deal high damage, when with any other sniper rifle (Classic excluded) you can just zoom and shoot almost immediately
_however_ as a inexperienced sniper, i very much prefer to use that over any other sniper rifles

I think the reason nobody uses the sydney sleeper is because it is basically a direct downgrade to the stock sniper rifle. I mean, it's balanced around getting more assists than kills. But ironically, it doesn't do a good job at support since it'll either outright kill enemies or else leave them so wounded that the jarate mechanic doesn't matter. It handicaps your max damage for a support effect that is made redundant by the fact that every pyro, demo, soldier, or heavy you shoot with a fully charged shot will be left wounded enough to be cleaned up easily by an SMG volley, a followup shot, or by your teammates.
Tl:dr it trades damage for a support mechanic that doesn't make a difference.

The reason people don't like or use the chocolate bar is because it's largely redundant in 9/10 situations, since the extra 50 hp doesnt have any effect on overheal. And when you're playing heavy, you're usually the first choice for most medics to pocket when fights are active. It's really only useful when you're playing a roamer heavy without a medic. I will agree that it is underrated though, since a roamer heavy can really use the extra max health, and the extra healing from health packs.
And even as someone who doesn't play much sniper, I already know why people don't use the sleeper. Why spend extra time charging to max for a 150 damage bodyshot when you could spend the same amount of time landing 4 150 damage headshots? Or landing 4 bodyshots that add up to more damage than the sleeper does on full charge? The jarate effect is only useful because the sleeper doesn't instakill half the classes on quickscope headshots, so you're essentially gimping yourself for an upside that only matters BECAUSE of the downside. I've never really used it, more of a classic guy myself, but it just seems redundant to minicrit headshot someone so your team can kill them faster, when you could instead kill them instantly with a full crit headshot.
Overall, this is probably the list I've agreed the most with out of the ones you've made, and that doesn't feel like a troll or otherwise complete misunderstanding of the subject at hand

Yeah it doesn't heal as much as others but that extra 50hp can be such a boon when considering even experienced players get thrown off when their 2 headshots or 3 pipes don't immediately kill you. Not to mention, most of the time, your lunchbox item healing 300hp is overkill. I rarely find myself under 100 hp when I eat them and something no one takes into account is health packs and how the dalokohs bar buffs them.

I'm unsure if I'd say the Air Strike is underrated. It's just kind of... different I guess? It's a rocket launcher that works best with a specific loadout and playstyle, one that I don't imagine everyone wants to do constantly. I view it sort of like how I view the Rocket Jumper and Beggar's Bazooka, they're all unlocks that rather noticeably change Soldier's gameplay.
When it comes to the Eureka Effect, I think it's mostly underused because the class itself is underrated by good players. At least half the Engineers you see in an average pub are new / F2P, players who probably aren't quite sure what their unlocks even do and equip whatever they have in their backpack that isn't stock. If they aren't a F2P, then there's a good chance that said player uses the Gunslinger almost exclusively and is probably playing Engineer just because they perceive a need for him. IMHO, I'd say Engineer is the class with the least amount of players who really comprehend his potential.
I'm glad the Shortstop is on this list, because I actually have a specific bone to pick with it. That being: I find the gun to be incredibly inconsistent in normal servers. Generally speaking, I don't think random pellet spread is that bad for most weapons that have it in TF2, BUT THE SHORTSTOP IS AN EXCEPTION. When I play on a server with random spread off, the Shortstop feels really good to use, otherwise, I really am not a fan.
The Sydney Sleeper isn't used because all the other rifles kill things faster. A few seconds of Jarate simply isn't worth it in most situations when other primaries would leave a lifeless body instead. It would be a lot nicer if the Jarate it applied lasted longer (I also think that most of the other Sniper primaries should have reduced ammo reserves, with the Sleeper and Classic being notable exceptions). This is being said by someone who uses the Sleeper more than the other rifles simply because I find it funnier.
Personally I think an underrated weapon is the Huo-Long Heater. Its downsides really aren't that bad and if you have a bunch of Pyros the thing shreds (it essentially does the same damage as the Brass Beast vs burning targets). Additionally, the ring of fire itself actually does some surprising damage (something I found out when doing some memes with the Holiday Punch).

      Hitman's Heatmaker: 15 ammo
      Classic: 20 ammo
Additionally, this ammo rework would come with a rework to the Sniper backpacks too:
