This is one of the most fascinating chord progressions I've heard Tobias use to put an axe through its paces! His demos are literally in another universe from the zillions of others on YT. He explores the full sonic range of each instrument, all while improvising and creating on a celestial level. Thus what we're treated to is not merely a presentation of the features of a specific guitar but a mini-concert of the highest level. This guy is brilliant, unique and incredibly inspiring. ... Oh, and I'd take a maple fretboard Tele over a rosewood any day.

1973 was the worst year of my life. Nice to see and hear something beautiful that came out of it.

Tobias is an incredible musician. I didn't think it could be possible, but he's taking the job that the great Greg Koch does for another vintage guitars selling company to a whole other level.

Sounds great! Amazing playing as always. Love the chord substitutions and the voicings. I’m still trying to steal those chords.

    CHORDS
    1: D F# D. (IV, it's in A)
    2: G# F C (Dm7b5, he sometimes plays G# triad in the solo)
    3. F#. D#. B. (V/V)
    4. F. D. A. (Bm7b5 or Dm6/B, basically -IV or moll dur)
    5. A. C#. A. (I)
    6. A. C#. G. (I/IV)
Among many many other things, he plays D, G#, B and F triads in the first two bars. What a great player, everything about it is beautiful
Please, correct me if I'm wrong with the analysis. Greetings!

      great analysis. For the 3rd chord, I hear and seen G E B ( G6). Also for the 5th chord, I'm hearing that over an open E string, so E C# A

Hi Alberto! The chords are right, good job. I read you comment month ago and always thought about answering it. Here i am. This is my idea about the chords. I am really into the diminished scale. So, it's in A major, that is right. You can hear very well how the progression resolves when it goes to the A major chord in bar 3. Every chord before that: D, Ab6, B, F6 is from the diminished scale in A. (A-B-C-D-Eb-F-F#-G#). As you can see, all four chords are a minor third apart from each other (D, F6, Ab6, B) and resolve into the tonic. (Adim resolves into A major!) So, i think like: two bars Diminished, two bars tonic. That why i am playing the D, Ab, B and F triads in bar 1-2, as you noticed, to get this diminished colour. BUT also all the "bluesy" stuff i am playing could be from the diminished scale which is actually very bluesy! Ok, the notes F and G# are a bit too far out, but try leaving these two notes out and you get a lot of classic blues phrases with A-B-C-D-Eb--F#. I am pretty obsessed with the idea, that a lot of the blues melodies could also have their origin in the diminished scale rather then just the pentatonic with added b5. Consider that diminished was huge in music at the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th century! :-) All the best and thanks for listening and for your comment.

@@Tobsensen thanks for answering ❤️. Tomorrow I'll come back to it, trying to see it as you do. I dig Brad Mehldaus' When it rains and I think you might like it too. Muchos abrazos !

Ok, so I came back to the progression with your information. Very interesting point of view, both sonically and from a historic perspective.
It is pretty clear to me that modern music teaching leaves out a lot of information when it becomes a practical thing.
What's really important, A diminished to A major are a exciting, both in classical and modern music. I feel you.
Thanks for taking the time and energy to reply. Have a great year 🎉
