I regret not being old enough to get into DDR at the time when this was huge. I only started getting into it late 2000s, so by the time I was good enough to really play, arcades and DDR were basically dead. FEELS BAD.

Hard to believe that this video was taken at the San Francisco Metreon when they had a massive arcade. I forgot who these dudes were name wise but we all played at the same arcade in Concord CA at Sun Valley Mall. Before Round 1 - there was Namco Cyberstation. Even in it's final days, DDR USA stood until the final moments as the only arcade machine left in the whole arcade. Crazy times man.
Dude trust me if I could go back to these days I’d give anything 💜 but dude that sounds fuckin awesome your lucky to have played the same arcade machine as them and in the same area too lol
@@KeybladeScar Definitely a sight to behold. USA only made ground on Japanese players skill wise in the DDR A days. During the numbered mixes, we didn't stand a chance.

what freestyling? im not sure freestyling was ever that popular since its a difficult skill for a niche interest but DDR right now has more players than ever before. u might need to travel for it where u are

i'm 31, I was watching DDR freak videos back in 2003-2007. Remember seeing Max 300 for the first time while in high school science class (2003) on the computer. Couldn't believe someone beat it.... to think that's considered a relativity easy boss song now a days is crazy.
The last time I watched this clip was 15 years ago. I remember trying to find DDR videos on P2P apps. Good times, this was definitely one of my favourite songs to play in 2004

I love DDR and this was by far the best track. Used to spend hours in it at home with the mat taped down to a heavy wooden board. Remember being on holiday doing the tournament and winning, plus an extra win for perfect attacks. Couldn't freestyle though, so I'm definitely a PA player

Freestyle was always the best way to show-off or one-up each other (until 6th, with the harder songs, getting AAA wasnt really much to write home about) but the problem was getting enough good players in the arcade at once.

I REALLY hope DDR and arcades make a huge comeback in the near future (especially since those are now "retro"). It would be awesome to see the rebirth where kids can go and hang out on weekends instead of being cooped up at home all the time.

I was never around for DDR at it's peak, and Ace's success with bar players is great, but I wish we'd get more freestyle players now
MarkExists yeah DDR is so different these days then when I was playing at the time most of it now is just meant for people to get the recognition for getting AAA’s but that’s still aweosme to heh I just loved it at this time so much better lol
I was only 7 when this video came out so was too young to partake in tournaments and stuff, but I will forever miss the days when I was just a small kid playing DDR in that one arcade in Scotland I would visit a ton. It was my introduction to rhythm games and it’s still my favourite genre to this day!

Fun fact : at the recent french convention called "Clermont Geek Convention", there was a DDR game (though it's actually StepMania) and some people danced like pros on high difficult levels with songs like Dynamite Rave and So Deep.

This just makes me full of pure joy and nostalgia. DDR is one of those things that makes you be brought back to a time of where everyone wasn't so caught up in bullcrap nowadays.

Too bad the damn American IIDX fanbase Kick-started the sensitivity within the US rhythm game community, to the point of destroying it from within.
Decades in the past saw the original post of this. Loved it so much I learned to do it too. Sadly never found a partner to do this with.

damm when people are teen in 2000s many cool things happen to them .. i was a teen in 2010 and i miss so many cool even in 2006 - 07 - 08 - 09, because im still in school middle school and don't get a chance to go out and hangout at shopping mall, only when i was 15years old in 2010 i can go out, and i started to play ddr in 2012 - 13 then get in college and play again in 2017 -18 - 19 and the pandemic happen now many arcade are close and some become arcade more toward kids 6 to 9 years old .no ddr no piu no streetfighter etc .. 😢
I know exactly how you feel about the Pandemic ruining everything man it sucks but what can we do ya know :( but heh trust me it was such a great time I loved growing up in this time tho you aren’t much younger than me heh but you just gotta find the spots man some places still have DDR but they’re rare ya know lol

i was at that tourney 15 years ago good times. just getting back into ddr friend acquired the same ddr machine that i started ddr on over 15 years ago. Got a lot of history with ddr now i can play it any time :)

When I played DDR Hottest Party on Wii once I actually suck at expert and I am really bad at dancing at it as well! But I am really good at basic though and I got full combos on it too!

I was first introduced to DDR through Mario Mix. It was a fun game, even if I didn't get it back then. Sweet Jesus, those were much simpler times.
Agreed man those were the best times notning was political or other crap man just good vibes and good friends to play DDR all day with also DDR Mario Mix was fucking fantastic I still own all my original copies of DDR on my PS2 lol and Mario Mix for GameCube mannnn to be back in those days 💜 lol

i remember getting into ddr because of how people were going all crazy like this on it and i found it so fun. i still enjoy doing ddr to this day haha. but it’s too bad the arcade close to me has a few broken arrows because of all the kids stomping hard on it. at least i have a cd of one of their bands (terra) so maybe i could recreate the experience...?

Its a video of what I think is japanese people... and it showcases lots of them doing "real" dances like this, all while playing a dance dance revolution-type game.... does anyone have any idea where i can find that video? Some of them just have one person... and some have two people similar to this. I have no idea where to find it anymore!
