what freestyling? im not sure freestyling was ever that popular since its a difficult skill for a niche interest but DDR right now has more players than ever before. u might need to travel for it where u are
Hard to believe that this video was taken at the San Francisco Metreon when they had a massive arcade. I forgot who these dudes were name wise but we all played at the same arcade in Concord CA at Sun Valley Mall. Before Round 1 - there was Namco Cyberstation. Even in it's final days, DDR USA stood until the final moments as the only arcade machine left in the whole arcade. Crazy times man.

i'm 31, I was watching DDR freak videos back in 2003-2007. Remember seeing Max 300 for the first time while in high school science class (2003) on the computer. Couldn't believe someone beat it.... to think that's considered a relativity easy boss song now a days is crazy.

Freestyle was always the best way to show-off or one-up each other (until 6th, with the harder songs, getting AAA wasnt really much to write home about) but the problem was getting enough good players in the arcade at once.
damm when people are teen in 2000s many cool things happen to them .. i was a teen in 2010 and i miss so many cool even in 2006 - 07 - 08 - 09, because im still in school middle school and don't get a chance to go out and hangout at shopping mall, only when i was 15years old in 2010 i can go out, and i started to play ddr in 2012 - 13 then get in college and play again in 2017 -18 - 19 and the pandemic happen now many arcade are close and some become arcade more toward kids 6 to 9 years old .no ddr no piu no streetfighter etc .. 😢

I was only 7 when this video came out so was too young to partake in tournaments and stuff, but I will forever miss the days when I was just a small kid playing DDR in that one arcade in Scotland I would visit a ton. It was my introduction to rhythm games and it’s still my favourite genre to this day!
