On just pools you can turn up the return line so it breaks the surface. If you really need to get the Alk down and bring the pH back up you can also get a sump pump and put it on the second or third step so it breaks the surface. That will also work.
Nothing at all. Aeration only affects the pH. This is the best way to drop a high Alkalinity to where you want it then bring the pH back up to a good level.
Yes. An exposed pool will always off gas carbon dioxide. The aeration makes the pH rise faster. Now if you put on a solar blanket you will notice that the pH doesn't really rise bc you're not able to off gas with a cover on. The only thing we can do is keep knocking the pH down. You can add Borates to the water to help buffer the pH from rising.
Swimming Pool Chemistry Done Right it’s boy really the off gazing that changes thing. It’s the introduction of oxygen changing the bonds of the chemicals in the pool.
Yes I believe I say this in the video. When I mentioned to Bob Lowry that I was going to prove his theory about aeration and pH he suggested testing every twenty min just to keep track of the rise and to see what happens. I just didn't have the time and it wasn't fair to my customer. It's not that we thought the pH would come up fast it was more about just tracking it and keeping a record. At the end of the day I proved he was right about how aeration will only raise pH and not Alkalinity. This was a good test. If you don't know who Robert Lowry is I would look him up.
Would it be faster use spa bubblers instead of jets?
What if your not rich and don't have waterfalls?

I stuffed an old vacuum cleaner hose into my return to blast the water into the air. Works like a champ.

What actually happen to alkalinity during aeration process ?
Nothing at all. Aeration only affects the pH. This is the best way to drop a high Alkalinity to where you want it then bring the pH back up to a good level.
So once your ph is back to normal, every time you turn your water features the ph will go up?

That pool should take a few hours, no need to check every 20 minutes.
