    There's a "small" mistake in the video mentioning Wilder contributing on the DM album "A Broken Frame". That is not correct as he did not start writing songs and produce with DM until the 3rd album "Construction Time Again". I'm sorry for the mistake.

      I believe he did, but wasn’t credited. In the DM documentary for A Broken Frame he is mentioned as working on the album.

      I just watched a documentary and apparently he was not part of the album in any way:

      While Alan was not involved with the recorning of A Broken Frame, he was a touring member for that album. He cowrote The Great Outdoors with Martin during the tour, and it was used as their intro music on the later part of the tour. It was the B side to Get The Balance Right which was their stand alone single before recording Construction Time Again.

    Alan Wilder Was The Sound Creator Of Depeche Mode.
    Without Alan Wilder DM Never Would Have Sounded As Great As They Did.
    A Music Genius.

    A video that does some justice to a talented and innovative man in the world of the music, simply a master!

    Met him twice. Such a lovely human and great musician. So sad he left DM, but it was understandable he did.

    Love Alan Wilder. He's friends with Gary Numan. I do wish they would work together. Even an E.P. would be great. Have you ever considered doing one on former Cult bassist Jamie Stewart? Why he left the band and what he's been doing through the years?

    @JanSandahl 5 днів тому +4

    Imagine if he had chosen to work WITH the strains within the band instead, and continued "the work". Choosing a "higher love" if you will. The creative intersection between him, martin's song writing and dave's vocals was.. almost divine.

      It was alchemy. The schism speaks to the endemic dysfunction, not his lack of altruism.

    There aren't enough superlatives. Their meteoric rise from CTA to SOFAD was no coinicidence. I miss Alan.

    Following Vince Clarke was an impossible task.

      I think Wilder did a pretty good job and I doubt DM would have survived this long with Vince Clarke as the songwriter.

    I wonder whether the band’s management and maybe Martin could have found a way to keep him on board. Maybe they tried, but my gut feeling says otherwise.

      As far I am informed he had made up his mind and was ready to go his own way which in my opinion was not a bad thing. I doubt anyone could have persuaded him to stay.

      The SOFAD recording process was draining and the tour even more so. Yes, I’ve heard the same but being paid the same as Fletch probably didn’t help. But anyway it’s ancient history now. I must find a way to move on 🤣

      No, they did not try. Actually, Fletch left first in 1994, but later returned.

      We know the vision of everything from Alan's perspective. He left the band without discussing the problems and without talking them over with the others. He wanted to change the band, and he is not Martin or Dave, who, as has been shown, were the pillars.

      it is so easy, just google it, Alan said: "I announced my departure by calling a meeting at the Mode office. I hadn't been able to speak with Dave (who was living in LA) despite having left several phone messages. I informed the other two of my decision and then faxed Dave (which seemed my only option) to which I got mixed reactions. None from Dave, a handshake and a shrug from Martin and aggressive indignation from Fletch"

    Dave who... nice piece but please pronounce the name correctly.. Ga-ha-n....

    • @80sNewWaveMusic
      @80sNewWaveMusic  День тому

      Actually it's you who pronouce it wrong as many others do (I did too for a long time). His name is pronounced as "Gone". Not Ga-ha-n.
      Here's a video showing how he pronounce it himself.

      You are wrong. I write the scripts myself and the music is eighter composed by me or I use something from the original band when it does not give me a copyright warning. I do all the video content myself too (hours of finding photos and cleaning them up etc.). I also do all the video editing as well as the graphics and thumbnails. The only AI here is the voice as my english is ok but with a danish accent.
