One of the best ever musicians, simply because he writes plays and sings! I like many genres of music, including traditional country, which is far from Gary's music. But even the old Bluegrass stars etc, never wrote all their own stuff, and the great rockers didn't either! Yes I think even if he had been about in the 1950's there would be many songs like 'flying saucers rock n roll'!

At end of 1980 I came from Kiel to Munich and after school took a look about the city and at Ostbahnhof area was a music shop and the windows full with the first album from Ultravox and bought it....Vienna catched me and the band... always wanted to be in Vienna...then November 1981 they was in Munich in the Schwabinger Braeu and I was there, at age of 15. Was wow and still wanted to be in Vienna....then work started and always when I wanted to go to was not able, something happened. Was second time in a concert when Monument came out. 1998 was one my first flight to Egypt and was overflowing Vienna, thought shit, want to be there....2003 to 2006 of work I was in Austria aaaaaaand worked in Vienna, sure I was in the city at the dome having my coffee and remember....now I live in Egypt and sure always listen to the songs from Ultravox. Started now 43 years ago...time is running, but when I hear songs still I am 15 ... hhhhhhh.... Greetings from Alexandria having my Shishah and listen to this music 😃😜😊

I don't depend on you released in 1979 by The Men aka The Human League with Ware, Marsh, Oakey on vocals. It was a fore runner of the dance pop well produced sound, the later Human League would pursue after the split. I think both factions of the original band were disappointed with lack of success with experimental music. And pursued it separately at later times. BEF gave it one last whirl with the Music for stowaways cassette only album in 1981. Sony Stowaway was the original name for the Sony Walkman

I learned about the band through Nick Rhodes and Simon Le Bon doing a special evening show where they played Visions of China in the early '80s, and mentioned some or all of the band members. I was so taken by the one song i bought the album. 40 years later I'm still a fan, but find myself digging deeper. Mick Karn's bass playing has become a particular interest and my heart breaks at his passing.

In 1999 I was lucky enough to have been invited onto the bus with John Foxx for his ten date UK "Subterranean Tour". Particularly at the Glasgow Barrowlands, Manchester Apollo and Shepherds Bush Empire, the atmosphere was more akin to being at a football match. He's loved. It was there that I met Peter Gilbert and Francis Drake, John Foxx's photographer and promoter respectively. It was they who very kindly invited me onto the tour with John Foxx and Louis Gordon. I can't remember why I bought Adolescent Sex, I think it might have been because I liked the cover plus the guy at the record shop said they were progressive and that the album had only be in the shops a few weeks. I was 18 years old at the time, and on that day, my life took a turn for the better. I was hooked and went on to buy anything Japan, or Japan related that I could get my hands on. I'm 65 next birthday and when my times comes and I disappear behind that curtain, with my relatives looking on, my family know I want it to be the the sound of Suburban Love. • @80sNewWaveMusic

Why is that misleading? They started out as a synth-pop band with post punk and new wave influences. This channel is all about those genres. Not modern music even though the videos does talk about where they are today.. And you can be great guitar and bass playes and still make great synth-pop. Where i live (Denmark) and their debut album was released we called it Synth-pop/New Wave and I know that was the case in UK too.
