If the audio board mentioned at 12:14 doesn't work out, I'd be very surprised if some member of The Swarm didn't offer to do that audio coding for her. 🤖🐕🔉 Also, Vedal despises latency to the point where he specifically mentioned it being one reason he usually prefers speaking to Neuro over Evil; she responds a bit faster than her erstwhile sister. That’s why I don’t tell people to be/speak ‘normally’ unless it feels like they’re actually trying too hard to the point of stress lol! Because usually, it turns out that’s just how they want to speak towards you, and it’s not exactly special accommodations cause everyone talks to everyone else in a different manner. I don’t think Ellie truly needs anybody’s help to communicate; I’m already convinced watching this, since she has so much passion and experience. He cares a lot about latency but if she says it’s not so bad, and the pros outweigh the cons…then I think that can be trusted. But who am I to say 🤣 I feel like he just wants Neuro to be autonomous and in full control at all times even in a robot dog body, no ‘rigging,’ as he’s said that many times before. The majority of fans seem to feel the same way, people like the AI to make choices by itself without any influence because it feels more fun and ‘genuine.’ After-all, his goal is to make Neuro be like her own person as much as possible. But probably doesn’t realize what can go wrong with this. I think Ellie’s leash-joystick idea, with the dog still being autonomous when there is not many people around, is a pretty good compromise though. Anyways, I’m just essaying on my random thoughts about this cause I’m very excited for the final results and it’s so cool this whole thing even started off of one raid. Still like them fine, but they have occasional moments wherein I raise an eyebrow and wonder if they might need to "touch grass," something I never thought about them previously! 🌱👀

@@SymmbolZS they wouldn't be leaving it unattended. Also it's going to be a rather large robot. there's no way someone could just pick it up and carry it out without anyone noticing.
As someone who watched Neuro in the earlier days I 100% understand the hatred of latency. But my line of thinking would be to send the phone data locally via a cable. On the other hand now I'm thinking, the robot itself doesn't need the audio, does it? It's the server running the AI that needs to hear. At that point a homemade solution sending it wirelesly but directly or Discord sending it over the internet may be a wash for whichever is better.
honestly she brings up good points. im not super familiar with raspberry pi in all honesty but im reasonably familiar with this type of control, and any form of wireless is finicky in general. imo its best to reduce control issues first.
Maybe she should use Schizo Alex as a mediator. Although the chances of the project's success would probably drop to zero, but at least she would have someone on her side who communicates with Vedal on technical matters on a regular basis.🤔
Why not USB? ADB is a debug tool, but it can be used for data transfer and control. They could hook it up to the pi 5 directly, and might not even need to write an app. Scrcpy for example is an app for puppeting an android phone entirely through adb, and it is really fast.
On the practical side of the phone argument, I’m 100% on her side. But the dog must be controlled by the ai, otherwise it’s just a radio commanded toy with speakers and camera. And if Vedal stuck on the easy way Neuro would still be a osu bot and Vedal a liar with a voice changer.
If they want to use this at a conference and have the microphone actually on the robot, there is no way around a mic array(with proper gain control). With the distance one would assume between speaker and robot and the amount of talking people in the background, not even the blackest of audio postprocessing magic will be much use to separate them from one another...
The phone idea isn't bad but using Discord is. To even think that Discord's audio processing and echo cancelation integration just plain sucks if you know even a little about this topic.
6:15 Would it be possible to still have it navigate on it's own using it's own AI, but with a leash that has a kill switch / override that allows vedal to take control if it ever seems like it is about to do something stupid? It seems like the spirit of Neuro is to allow it to have it's autonomy within the scope of Vedal's control, to have him control it manually would remove the whole purpose of Neuro.

Why are we talking about Bluetooth, when a modern phone also has a USB- C connector ? How about if you use the Pi or (even something like an Arduino) only to bridge between Android Open Accessory Protocol and GPIO or whatever you want, nothing else ? So do everything centrally on the phone ? Yeah, have the AI use a 'joystick on the leash'. Or flip it and have the Pi be the boss in the relationship.

Giving up on the idea of autonomous navigation seems like losing the point, although maybe it's just for me, the first video with Neuro set the expectations that she'll be navigating herself. I see that it's not completely giving up, only when navigating through crowds, so it is okay, but it should be considered on stream as it may not be that satisfying to watch as Neuro roaming by herself. How expensive or difficult to implement is lidar? As giving up regular vision wouldn't be a satisfying option either. So, all in all, I think if lidar is a good idea and will look good on stream, Ellie probably should do that, otherwise joystick might be not that terrible as Vedal imagines it to be, however it might be clunky due to latency if Vedal himself controls it, or it might not be seamless transition between moments when Neuro is autonomous or control when someone controls Neuro near her, wo in that case, there theoretically wouldn't be a way to hide it. I wonder though if it is a good idea to make a beacon for a person to wear and Neuro-dog would closely follow the signal from the beacon, when navigating.
Is it just me, or could all of these problems be solved by running both the data and the inputs and outputs through obs. Everyone here should already be used to using obs. It has filters built in.
