Fun Fact: Battle of Cologne was one of the few timea in the war where Volksturm militia manage to beat back the Allied forces. Out of around 10,000 men enlisted into Volksturm unit there, half of them are elder veteran from the Great War who was responsible for training and reorganizing the Wehrmacht back in the 1930s. It was these men along with Regulars Wehrmacht/SS unit that beat back the initial American assault for the city and would organize resistance in the city until the end of the war, even after the fall of the city itself.
If they had an IQ bigger than thier shoes they'd have seen the war was hopelessly lost surrendered to the Americans saved countless lives on both sides and got that much more of a head start on returning to post war normalcy
@@funkdoctaspochI know this is a bit off from topic, but 2022-2023's Russia had fewer time to prepare their own volksturms. They may not live up to germany's late war volksturms but who am I to judge in its entirety
Da fragt man sich, wieso diese Helden mit ihren überlegenen Waffen und Taktik den Krieg verlieren konnten, trotz der materiellen und zahlenmäßigen Überlegenheit der Feinde.

Have YET to witness ANY simulation accurately portray the very real ‘Ronson/Tommy Burner’ matter. All sides shocked how often/easily American made tanks caught fire a crews worst nightmare from even non-penetrating fire. It had to do with standard us munitions storage and armour splintering, unforgivably not resolved till post-war designs, though identified as early as the Firefly NOT predicted unforgivably until after Korea. Great Uncle repeated in his Will what always told us asking him about Korean War American heavy tanker. Never ‘holed’ he lost arm and both legs one knee down ‘Ronson fire’ he said popular Canadian lighter? Ever bitter despite wheeling girls around at weddings on his prosthetics he couldn’t afford best without our help. Always he said he wished he’d died instead😠 There was civil law suits but nothing?

Yeah, volksturm in the game deserves more recognition. They could get three star weapon handling at least.

I only use a few Mod's from Steam Workshop. At the moment none of the Mods are working.

I myself love King Tiger, but I don't like Tiger II P because of its turret, but I like Tiger II H very much. If you like, ignore my opinion😉
Brilliant

Cologne

It is an official map based off one of the mission from a new USA Campaign: Lair of the Beast.

Two things rendered the Tiger 1 and Tiger 2 and Panthers forever to be overall inferior to the Sherman and essentially pointless
#1 when a Tiger 1 or II or Panther knocked out a Sherman the crew bailed out went back got another Brand fooookin new Sherman AND 4 or 5 or 20 of his buddy Sherman's went back and eliminated the Tiger or Panther
The crews of the Tigers or Panthers got knocked out by the Sherman's, M10's, M18's or other means they bailed out went back to thier lines became infantryman because there were no more Tigers or Panthers available to take back into battle
#2 with America and GB having established near complete air supremacy by 1944 in western Europe most German Tigers and Panthers (all other armor as well) headed to France after D-Day got wiped out by fighter bombers long before they reached the battles the few that did make it were looking at at least a 5-1 disadvantage in facing Sherman's M10's or M18"s or British armor
While the Tigers and Panthers had better guns and Tiger1 and panther slightly better armor they were far more mechanically unreliable and MUCH more difficult to maintain and fix than a Sherman and America made over 6x more Sherman's than Tigers and Panthers combined
Sherman was a Tank that did a great many things well but not really great at any one thing was stupid fast and stupid easy to build maintain and repair and was one of if not the most reliable tanks of WWII
While the Tiger I&II and Panthers were great at fighting other tanks they were all very complex expensive difficult and very time consuming to build and were mechanically very unreliable they spent 1/3rd of thier operational lives OOA due to mechanical problems AND spair parts for both were never anywhere near sufficient in numbers to prevent Tigers and Panthers for remaining OOA for weeks at a time VS you could change an entire engine or transmission in a Sherman and have it back in action in a day often same day.
