Unison Bass Dragon is a generative AI plugin for music production that helps musicians and artists come up with basslines for their songs. Whether you're having brain farts or a day where inspiration is just not hitting like it needs to, this is something I have found to be useful to me just like every other generative tool I've used when producing music in the studio. So far this year I think it's one of the best assistive production tools out there.
Like any of the plugins and AI apps that I share on this channel (if you care to even listen to what I say), I see this as simply a tool to be used when you deem necessary. Because of it's nature to create basslines (and bass instruments) it's something that you may not always need because you area able to create both of those yourself by choosing a patch from your VSTs you already have or playing something on your own. Of course, it is not always needed nor should it be substituted for your own creativity. YOU are the creative individual after all so for something to replace YOU, would mean YOU were the one to give it the permission to do so by using it all the time. After all, YOU are the one choosing the plugins, no?

The drum packs are part of the "treasure chest" Unison includes when you purchase the plugin.

Is Maschine updated? Not sure, you don’t really have to “connect” anything. Just open it as a plug-in on an empty track space.

I think 🤔 this is great for people who can’t find musicians willing to Collab, also for solo producers who can’t afford to pay musicians but want to have a different take on things when creating music. I saw a UA-cam channel literal hating on this VST but he didn’t even play the damn thing for us to hear what it could do. I think it’s dope and i will be using it. And the thing is I normally play all my own instruments.
99.9% of the people who hate on this plugin and post “reviews” have never used the plugin themselves. They are people who love to hate the company. It’s very dumb. And that’s exactly why I make these videos.

It has everything I spoke of in the video and everything that it shows on the product page. It’s not really meant to be an arturia level synth. The function is more focused on the generation of bass melodies.

Not that I would use there generated baselines exactly but to be honest some of them are straight fire!!
No, they don’t copyright strike people for using their plugins. That’s just people spreading more Iinformation to give them a bad name because they love to hate the company. If there ever was a copyright strike issued it may have been due to false allegations such as calling the company a “scam” when it is not.

@@IAMLXGEND is there a trick to getting the bassline as midi since i don't have the bass dragon presets and sounds in my logic pro x? I dragged the sound as midi and that shit played as a grand piano 😂.. the audio file feels a little too loopy to me
You can actually export the bass dragon sound as an audio file, it’s right next to the export as midi option. So that way you can have the bass dragon sounds with whatever it comes up with, you just won’t be able to edit that obviously other than putting plugins on it since it’s an audio file instead of midi. Otherwise you’ll need your own sounds to swap out for the grand piano if you want to keep it as midi. You don’t have any VSTs?

Yea, they never mention Maschine in most of these plugins even outside of unison but most of them work just fine in it. I produce in Maschine and can confirm it works!
The real issues is that some producers dont understand that its not a copy and paste drum..set it forget it. Thats for lazy beat makers. The machine is better used for getting the drum pattern in that area where u can tweak it a little. Alot of beat makers arent making these patterns off top anyway
It’s not for drums though. It’s for bass in general. That could include 808 but it’s a bass plug-in. But I get what ur saying and yea most people think it’s what you said because they haven’t even touched it with their own mouse. Lol

Plug-ins like this are great because they give you an extra tool to draw inspiration from , and as he said , YOU DONT HAVE TO CALL A BASS PLAYER !! If someone’s feels it’s overpriced , then the same can be said for your road towards success. If not willing to spend on your craft , don’t. But it says something in terms of your dedication. Great points and I agree. There’s a lot of people who ask me for nothing but free tools. And while there are some great ones out there… the truth is if you’re not willing to invest into your craft, you’re not willing to win. It WILL cost something. Even if this tool isn’t for them, they’ll have to spend something elsewhere to get further along: everything can’t come free or inexpensive.

I think with the “download all” era we live in , creators have gotten to used to the shortcut. They damn near think it unfair when someone tries to charge them for something , but yet are looking to make a million dollars off their own craft . It’s backwards thinking .
here's the thing... even the best writers and musicians get into a roadblock.
One doesn't necessarily have to use this on the song... but can utilize it as a guide to get him/her into the headspace and creative flow.
would I pay for it, no. but I can't knock anyone who would.
This is the type of standpoint I can get behind and I thank you GREATLY for having a view that actually makes sense and doesn’t demonize other people who use it for simple assistance or inspiration. I appreciate it a lot.
@@IAMLXGEND NGL if I did have the extra budget I prolly would try it out. As musicians, we can get inspired by anything. And I see that unison products could help one who finds themself in a stump. It's like using samples, but instead of a song (or part of it)...it's a bassline, a drumpatt or a chord prog.
Definitely gives one more room to work around in and with than a sample, really.
100000% how I see it too. It’s like interactive infinite samples. You can use the 3 day free trial. If you stick around on the page a little bit there’s usually a pop up that comes up for you to try it for 3 days

@IAMLXGEND they owe you at least 1. I like this plugin a lot. Makes the workflow easier for sure. Only complaint from me is some of the sounds are a little cheesy, but the midi drag and drop completely makes that a nonfactor.
Yea for me I think that was one thing I noticed with the previews on the site. I think if some of the sounds could speak to some of the genres natively, that would take it to new heights. Like funk guitars and things like that. What’s good though is exactly what you said, I can just drag and drop the MIDI into my DAW. But I agree entirely with this.
OH! One thing I didn’t mention is they have a drop sample feature too where if you have a bass one shot, you can drop it into the plug-in and it’ll play the midi with ur one-shot. Also another potential way around their in-built sounds

Exactly what I was going to say but I give up on trying to say anything logical to these people. They will continue to act high and mighty. Sampling producers or ones who use loops or even people who use ANY tool or sound they didn’t directly create themselves aren’t producers by this logic. But I digress.
Like if we need to create things ourselves to be considered producers then we need to be building our own drums from scratch after harvesting cow hide, burning and crafting metal instead of using drum kits, pulling our own strings and wood to build our own pianos and then Setting up mics to record these pianos instead of using VSTs. Because we didn’t. Aka those either… where does it end lmao

However that doesn’t take away from the Reality of what I am, what I do and accomplish. The tens or hundreds of thousands of hours spent and still moving forward.
That being said, those who create beautiful instruments like this the steinway full grand piano, most of them can’t even play the piano. They are engineers and NOT musicians.
Simply put there is nuance in everything and as I said in my original message if artificial intelligence is creating patterns for you, creating baselines and chord progressions then the AI is the produce not the person using it.
Again How do you specifically talking about composing music from scratch without AI or midi files. I’m not hating on those people that choose to use those things, if they do that’s cool. They just don’t get the title ask COMPOSER or Producer, but rather a arranger
This is a great VST. It really is very simple but very effective. Drag n drop any sample changes it from a bass machine to a rompler for any purpose.

I don't own Wizard or Drum Monkey. Just Mangler, Sound Doctor and this one.
The only reason why producers give criticism about "easy use plugins" or loops etc is because its closing the skill gap between good and bad producer's.
10 years ago people couldn't believe me that I've produced tracks on fl studio now someone makes something ultra realistic and its not getting appreciated anymore.

After seeing your ad for like a million time and even when I claimed it as "Not interested" it keeps popping on my face everytime I open UA-cam I realized why you would promote such a plugin.
I have nothing against you as a person because I don't know you, but I believe that it is not good to promote these plugins for "beginners" and make em fall in this trap "even for good amount of money". Money is great I know, but we also should have an ethical perspective.
You said something very triggering in your video at 5:14 which I find very stupid (what u said not you). It's like calling somebody who generates artworks using Midjourney an artist because he still uses the command /imagine to create those images.
I think we all know that everything that's been promoted by Unison (From MIDI chord packs for 67 USD to bAss Dragon for 200 USD) is a scam (or at least doesn't deserve all that money) and it's all about making people believe that they will reach fame when they use those plugins. So far, none of those who promote Unison products reached a level that deserves attention. But in the other side, those who rely on themselves managed to do so.
Just for the record, I'm quite impressed that you keep negative comments in here, I truly respect that. Everything that I said was based on my perspective about Unison as a company not you, I wish u nothing but the best. But please consider thinking of helping upcoming producers not overwhelming them with those adds :)

What I do is I make a video and I post it. What you see in ads has absolutely zero to do with anything I’ve done. I do not control, change, or have anything to do with that, whatsoever.
3. Not once in this video did I ever target promotion of this plug-in to “beginners”. If you watched the video and listen closely to everything I say, I say the complete opposite. My target and entire point of this video that is clearly stated in the first 30 seconds of the video is that i use it and recommend it for people struggling with writers block and lack of inspiration. Please watch it and listen again or click on the captions so you can see every single thing I say. It will tell you.
4. Whatever I said at 5:14, I’m sure you’re talking about the “there’s still a human element”. Idk I’m not at my computer. But again, You’re missing the entire point of what I’m saying. I’m not calling people Mozart for using bass dragon and clicking in a few notes. Don’t take it so straight forward and literally. The idea here is to communicate: YOU control HOW MUCH or how LITTLE input you want from the plug-in. You don’t HAVE to have it generate midi for you. You don’t HAVE to have it generate bass sounds for you. You don’t HAVE to have it generate progressions for you. The point is to say YOU HAVE CONTROL over how much influence and control you want the thing to have in your process. Because the “AI” moniker automatically makes people go “omg ai will replace me🙄” which is ONLY THE CASE if you’re LAZY and let the tool do EVERYTHING for you. Again, you missed the point but maybe that is a fault of mine. I have less than 10 minutes to explain everything I can about a plug-in. I’m sorry I was not able to communicate that well in my limited amount of time I am given. But it was not stupid. Whatsoever.
5. We have to stop throwing around this word “scam”. The plug-in does EVERY. SINGLE. THING. It says it does on the website. Does it not? It being expensive is NOT a scam.by that logic, every iPhone, every Samsung phone, every MacBook, ever gaming computer on the planet is a scam. Every expensive microphone, every Izotope plug-in. They’re all expensive. They’re not scams: they do what they say they’re gonna do. So I do not understand for the life of me why people say this. It’s not true. At all: and that’s proven in the video. Expensive does not = scam. Expensive just means expensive. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it.
6. People have to do their due diligence. If you’re gonna buy something, be a SMART BUYER and study it first. Free trial #1. #2. All the marketing claims and FOMO is a part of marketing. They may say things like “help you get ahead of the crowd, etc etc” different companies have different ways of promoting their product. I didn’t find any of what they say “problematic” or “scammy”. In fact, I don’t look at ANY of that. Nor should any human being. Look at the PLUG-IN itself and what it can do for you. That’s literally ALL I look at and ALL anyone should look at first and foremost. Free trial. Try it. See it. The stuff they say on the site doesn’t matter if you find what it does useful. And I did for me. So that’s why I agreed to the sponsorship. Because I ACTUALLY LIKE IT.
7. Of course I keep negative comments on here. Everyone should have a say. I will happily risk my relationship with these companies in doing so because I don’t give a flying rats doodoo hole what anybody else thinks of me or the plug-in, if I like it and find it to be useful to me, I’m gonna talk about it. If unison sees the comments and never works with me again, so what. People think all I care about is money or all that nonsense. I don’t. I care about self expression and making the music I like to make with the tools I like to make it with. People call me names, people lie about me, people say all kinds of nonsense, but I know what I do and I’m not changing shit for anyone: so of course comments stay open. As long as people stay respectful (which they dont) they get to stay.

I understand how This can be a hard concept for people like you to understand. That someone who’s being handed dollars to talk about a product could ACTUALLY like what they’re talking about. But the simplest explanation is:
I like the plug-in.
There are countless offers I get in my emails, once even one from a crypto currency company for tens of thousands of dollars, I declined. Why?
Because I didn’t like the crypto.
I don’t base my sponsorships off of who pays me more. First and foremost I base my sponsorships off of whether I think it’s useful TO ME and secondly whether I think it’ll be useful to MY AUDIENCE, 3rd whether or not it’s actually good and works well and 4th, if they are paying me what a slot is worth on my channel.

None of them ever do. They listen to what other people say and blindly repeat instead of finding out for themselves.
