I’ve been watching Doctor Who since I was 9, and this is the first companion actor who was born after I was. Not only after I was, but over a decade after I was. Man, I feel old.
If she's the first companion born after you, _you_ feel old? She's only 18. Many of us are older than Billie Piper.
Yeah, I can’t get over how young some of these Doctor Who fans are. When I was born, the Doctor still wore a very long scarf. And when I was a young teen, the Doctor…still wore a very long scarf, because I’m American, and PBS loved Tom Baker. Depending on where you were, there really weren’t any Wilderness Years here.
Anyhow, REALLY looking forward to the Tennant specials and to the next full season. I think Ruby Sondei (to pick a *reaally* out there spelling) will be a great companion, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Doctor meets her.
@@jasonlescalleet5611 I’m sure I’m younger than you, but I had more or less the same experience. Except PBS played the Pertwee episodes instead of the Baker episodes where I lived. But Jo Grant seemed old to me at the time, as did Rose when she came along a few years later.
The day I realised Peter Davison's Doctor (My Doctor) was younger than my son.... man, I felt SO phucking old! 🤣
If she's more than a decade after you, Tosin must've been a close scrape.
Looking forward to a smaller tardis team. I know the series started with 3 companions but Chibnall kind of made the tardis feel overcrowded. Jodie, in her first season, felt more like a suuuuper friendly tour guide more than a best friend. The companions got heart-to-hearts with each other, but Jodie always felt like she was addressing the group as a whole. I'm look forward to watching the rest of her run now that I know that a new/old show runner is on his way, but those were just my initial thoughts back in her first season. Millie is such an amazing actress, here's hoping the new season can do her justice!
Never heard of her but she seems really lovely and I can't wait to see her on screen as Ruby Sunday alongside Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor, I'm sure they'll both be brilliant!
And what a name: Ruby Sunday! Love it, I'm so excited!
She was on Coronation Street. Look her up, she's quite the actress
She was in a british soap called coronation street. She is an excellent actress.
Not to be mistaken for Ruby Tuesday
I knew I recognised her somewhere
@@dracowolf3212 At first I thought they were Ruby Saturday, but that's someone entirely different. Man, I'm already confused.
I’m officially older than the new companion.
God I feel old
same, i’m 21 and been watching since i was 11, it’s crazy to be older than one of the actors now
Same
I'm twice her age!
Dude, I feel you.
I'm over 11 years older than her and less than 2 months younger than Ncuti!
When Billie Piper was announced in 2004 everyone was like she’s not a real actor she’s a young pop star what a bad choice...little did they know! Give this girl a chance I think she’ll be amazing 🎉🎉
Yep, and they trashed Catherine Tate as well. They were wrong of course!

She’s absolutely brilliant in coronation street. So happy to see her going on to do bigger things!!!
Never watched Corrie saw her in Jamie Johnson and she was great so excited to see her hear
She was good in corrie? Like when i thought she was a bit wooden
@@Venemofthe888 I don't know her and consider all soap acting to be bad acting (partly because of how it's made) but then Emmerdale gave us Jenna Coleman. So just like all new companions, I'll give her a fair shot at it as some of them are good actors outside the soaps.
@@owenmyles5519 She played the daughter of Rick Neelan on Corrie who was the loan shark that Gary Windass killed in 2019.
She was mid af wym
Welcome to doctor who! I’m not familiar with millies work, but I’m sure she will be very good. So excited, it’s nice to go back to a small Tardis team!
She was in cornation street
She was excellent on coronation street

I get more and more excited about these specials day by day
This is for Series 14 with Ncuti Gatwa so we won't see her until the 2023 festive special
But I'm very excited all the same!

RTD's casting was always bang on the money. She will be fantastic.
When a director can make a dust bin look smug, you know it'll be good.
The first shot of a flying Dalek, it was definately smug.
totally will be fantastic
Even tho RTD is Gay he has good eye for Gorgous blondes , he name is rediculous tho but I’m looking forward to it
And he writes amazing and deep dialogue like "What? What? What?" Must have taken him days to think that up.
@@RealBadGaming52 think the name will be a plot point
NEW ERA OF RTD!!! IM SO EXCITED FOR THE FUTURE OF DOCTOR WHO❤❤
RTD has yet to give us a bad doctor or companion, and Gatwa and Millie both look really excited to be part of the show. I look forward to seeing them in action.
Edit: Where's all this Rose Tyler hate coming from? I know she isn't the best companion introduced to the show, but goddamn.
The girl seems sweet but the name of the character sounds like something off a kids programme, it's cringe.
@@ladyfoxwf1075 It's certainly unique. I quite like it, personally.
@@ladyfoxwf1075 Remember Donna Noble, named after Dona Nobis Pacem from the setting of a catholic mass. "Grant Us Peace" - Russell, who is an atheist, using religious wording for a companion's name
@@ladyfoxwf1075 the main character of the show goes around calling himself the doctor. i think a bit of levity is needed, lol.
@@animelovers000 don't agree, she is not the best companion but is really good.
Congrats to her on joining a great list of companions. I hope her and the 15th Doctor have some incredible adventures.
Whenever the actors who get the part feel honored and genuinely thrilled to inherit a legacy by being a main character on Dr. Who, you know they're going to do a fantastic job. We need people who respect the parts, who get what they should be like, and are happy to be doing it. I have a good feeling about her and the new Doctor.
I love these Children In Need exclusives for Doctor Who.
Oh that's what the show is. I was wondering and completely blanked that CIN was on tonight. 😂
Let's be honest kids don't watch Doctor Who anymore, these days all they watch is TikTok I don't think kids have watched Doctor Who since like 2014 ish none of them would have seen Chris, David's, Matt's or even Capaldi's run.
@@KentVigilante I get your point I've always loved Doctor who so. I've got my little brother into it and kept him off tik tok and he loves 10! That's his favourite
I thinks she’s gonna be great. She seems very enthusiastic and that’s half the battle right there
Millie wasn't even a year old when the revived series started in 2005
I'm old
Wow. Holy crap!
i was 30 when the new series started, my 'first doctor' was Tom Baker, thats old lol, and i didnt realize how much i wouldnt like that until i typed it, but i really dont like it.
@@markorollo. Tom was my first Doctor as well. I have a couple more years over you though but it still puts in the same care home. 😂

love it! she seems so honestly excited to be part of the show and that's all that matters for me :) can't wait to see her character in action
Was definitely a bit stunned when she decided to leave Corrie but now it makes sense! Good luck to her
I'm so happy they didn't kill her off. I love that they left it open so one day she can come back.
I’ve seen Millie’s acting chops. Big fan. She’s already done her fans proud and I hope she has fun with this role ❤
Ncuti and Millie as Doctor and Companion?? Brilliant choices! I hope they give them an actual schedule, instead of random spattering of episodes like they've done with Jodie. I can see a whole new generation of fans if they get this right 👍
Millie probably playing a gay, as Dr Who gotta keep the woke sh-t going
@@wulfraedofivanhoe8870 Don't 99% of the time a character I grow an attraction for turns out to be gay and one's that aren't my type are straight, it's the same in real life, maybe I'm just naturally attracted to gay girls.
@@wulfraedofivanhoe8870 You're watching Doctor Who, tf do you care about a characters sexuality?
@@wulfraedofivanhoe8870 Ah, so to you gay people simply existing constitutes as “Woke”?
@@SilkKreep right its literally a show about an alien time traveler
She seems genuinely nice, and humble love the show, and best of luck to her in the role )
I’m glad it’s someone I’ve never heard of before! I hope she will be playing an alien, or at least someone from a different time period. But I know RTD is a big fan of modern day companions, so she probably won’t be. I hope she’s great regardless!
I think she’ll almost certainly be from modern day Earth. In Ncuti Gatwa’s introduction to Doctor Who video he said the Doctor travels with a human companion (obviously hasn’t always been the case) so this is clearly what they are planning.
I think ALL of the companions in the new version have been from modern day Earth.
@@DaleRibbons Captain Jack was from the 52nd century, and Nardol was from an unspecified point in the future.
@@CH-bd6jg Nardole was also an android. I think Missy might count as well.
By her groovy name, sounds like she's from the swinging 60's shaggadelic London.
Awesome, her personality is bubbly perfect. Doctor Who is off to a great start!! Lover her!!
I agree! But Bonnie Langford was bubbly, and a lot of people adored Mel too.
I knew her from coronation street and she was great. I'm so excited to see her in doctor who with ncuti gatwa. The 60th and series 14 will be amazing. I can't wait!

Ladies & Gentlemen Introducing RUBY SUNDAY for 2023 im gonna stick around for the future of Dr.Who
I’m SO excited to see David Tennant, again. But most of all, Ncuti Gatwa as the 14th Doctor and now her as his new companion!
@J.O.H. Ltd. schools teach pronouns these days not mathematics
@J.O.H. Ltd. Counting the war Doctor, it is technically 15. Including the fake Tennant it’s 16. Including wherever the Jo Martin Doctor fits in it’s 17. The point is is that commonly people say the fourteenth doctor. If you don’t like it that’s alright but don’t tell others to say otherwise.
@@eDDyL666 Ok boomer.
@J.O.H. Ltd. Nope 14, Tennant come back does not make him the 14th as he's clearly the same Doctor as 10, plus RTD saying he is the 14th is a just a red herring to keep his story a secret
@@madmanoliver oh look one of the little people is trying to speak to me like they are important and matter

Doctor Who's Journey Has Only Just Started
I love being excited for Doctor Who again! Gosh, every announcement, it feels like the show's being brought back even though it never went away. It's just that--you know...I wasn't in to the latest era. And I love the Russell T Davies era so much, and David Tennant, like how can I not trust RTD made the right choices with Ncuti Gatwa and now Millie Gibson. I feel absolutely no fear about these casting choices, and to feel so confident about the show again, feels excellent, fantastic, and incredible.

Congratulation Miss Gibson, i can't wait seeing your travels in universe with the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa 💙💙
You never did a video when Ncuti’s Doctor was announced but you do a video for his companion?
i think it was because it was a part of the children in need, not its own thing
Maybe because it was on Children in Need? Idk though
Because they were gonna be at the baftas so they had to beat the leaks

I'm absolutely stunned! Of all people, it's Millie Gibson! Fair play to her, I'm sure she'll be a great addition to the show.
looks like we’re finally out of the era of calling companions “friends”
They've always been called companions. It's just a fancy word to use in the show
I mean specifically in the Chibnall era where they rarely used the word “companion” for some reason
@@CaJoel like I said... It's a really fancy word. The word was hardly used in the past either. Companion is just a word that dates back from the classic era. These days they are more like friends. So companion is mainly used off screen

She's incredibly young to be a companion but then again, so was Billie Piper. I'm sure she'll be great 👍
Billie Piper was 22 when she started. Certainly not the oldest, but many of the classic companions had started at 19-21, so it wasn't that unusual at the time.
Sophie Aldred, the most recent full-time companion, had started at 24.
How come everyone has to be so young? The show didn't need to be that way before and even Graham continued the trend that age doesn't matter to have interesting characters?
