- Brother Pius speaks of the twofold structure of the Hail Mary, the base prayer of the Rosary: the Hail Mary starts with what God has done through Mary, and then asks for her intercession.
It’s sort of like sitting at the feet of Mary and hearing her tell the story of her son’s life.
Brother Pius offers a way to make the prayer even more Christ-centered, by adding something about him or his life after you pray his name like this, “Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, crowned with thorns,” for example.
There’s no reason to be suspicious of the repetition of the prayers in the Rosary, because it creates space for contemplation, time to center ourselves and focus. It is also similar to how the psalms have been prayed for thousands of years, since they were, and are, prayed over and over as well.
Our blessed mother never tires of hearing us say, “I love you.” And there is no better way to say that than by praying the Rosary.

I have such a hard time focusing my thoughts during prayer, but last night as I started the first Hail Mary of my Rosary, I was able to call her face to mind and when I said “Full of grace,” she smiled. I didn’t actively ask my mind to make my image of her smile, so it felt like a bit of a blessing. Thank you so much for this series. It’s so nice to have practical advice on making the Rosary a bigger part of my life.
That’s my favorite part of being a believer of god and Jesus (I’m catholic) to be able to have these kinds of small miracles happen and strengthen our faith :)
Praying the Hail Mary as well as the Rosary, with a small group or people in my church at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Dallas TX was a deep personal and spiritual experience. Nothing is better than praying with other Catholics, especially after an 8 am mass with the Priests. I have been transformed by it. I pray the Rosary on my mother's Rosary. When Brother Pius was talking about the little girl my mind flashed with an image of Jesus or a disciple sitting under a tree with a small child on his lap telling them a story. Thank you Brother Pius for that image. I believe that God is pleased with your work and has blessed both you and your work.
I am a convert to Catholicism, and it took me many years before conversion to reconcile within myself the Catholic understanding of our blessed Mother. I now pray the rosary daily, and have found myself hunting for recorded versions. There are times I can pray, but my hands are occupied, so a recording is helpful. There's an aspect of the recordings that bothers me, and that is the rushed nature of them. The Hail Mary is said so quickly that it's practically said in 3 words. Even when it is said slower, the second half is still incredibly rushed, with the speaker turning into an auctioneer by the time they reach "now and at the hour of our death. Amen." Death and amen are almost always one word. Because I was raised protestant, I know it is no light accusation that Catholic prayer is the epitome of the vain repetitions spoken of in the Bible. When the prayers of the rosary are spoken in such a hurried way, isn't that what they've been reduced to? Are we even paying attention go the meaning of the words and contemplating the mysteries of the faith at that point? Praying the rosary isn't a magical spell, where if we just say the words, we'll be under its protection. We shouldn't live up to negative stereotypes of our faith. Slow down. Meditate on what the words are saying and contemplate the mysteries. Praise be to God we have the opportunity.
I am unable to meditate and say the rosary fast. So in public recitations ( when priests and people are so fast) I tend to focus on the mystery and join in a part of the prayer vocally.
@@gtaylor178 I agree. I have been avoiding public recitations for that very reason. When done well and thoughtfully, public sharing of the rosary is powerful and moving. I may have to try your technique the next time my parish prays the rosary before mass.
@@Sister_Felinity_Imaculata Try it and see if you can meditate. The Rosary should never be rushed, could you imagine the shock of Our Lady in her house, the Angel appearing is enough to scare anyone, but then to have been (NOT) spoken to so quickly?
In our Cathedral, there is a sizeable group of around 50 people who pray the rosary every day and it is a meditation and prayed as we were taught to pray it as children, slowly and as a meditation on Our Lord's life. But alas I live 50 miles from there so it is only an occasional blessing.
I have the same issue 😥 giving me headaches how most people speed through the rosary like they couldn't finish it quick enough.... don't know why that is. But if people don't have time maybe they should just pray something shorter instead and allow proper time for meditation. I don't think all people even understand the words they are saying? Hail Mary.... We are greeting her... asking her attention... how is this supposed to work spitting words out like bullets😑 it really sounds sometimes like people reciting "magic" words.. or crying like bratty teenagers

Mary, who was always faithful even when Jesus was crucified ... forgot what Jesus said to the apostles ...? When I say the Rosary I ask Mary to give give all people past, present, and future a big group puppy hug. I don't know why I call it a puppy hug but my image is a child hugging a bunch of puppies. Than I ask that she sit each of us on her lap and touch our heart that we can be healed of any pain and allow each of us be allowed to receive the Lord's love to flow into our hearts and back out to all we meet. I ask she do this for the healthiest (physical and emotional) to our sickest. That they may heal.
A wise and gentle priest encouraged me to pray for others while praying the Rosary by simply saying.... "Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for (say the name and any specific requests) now and forever. Amen. This way of praying for others has been such a blessing for me.

@Tom Jenkins so won't you ask someone to pray for you? If a brother asks for you to pray for him you wouldn't do it because it is not good? By praying Mary, we ask of her to "pray for us, sinners".
There is no worshipping in that. The Church forbids that we worship other than the Most Holy Trinity. Mary isn't a goddess, saints aren't either. They're mother and brothers well alive in God's Glory who pray for us as we ask them to.

Great discussion! Thank you, Fathers! I discovered some time ago, that when I recite my rosary or the prayers from the rosary is to focus on the scriptures or to focus what it is that I am reciting and what the prayer is about.
I visited Turkey 🇹🇷 two years ago and had no idea she (Mary)lived in Turkey 🇹🇷. My family and I visited the house 🏡 she grew up .

If Mary hears and answers prayers on behalf of millions, if not billions of catholics worldwide than she is a goddess. She than is no different than the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Love the catholic people, but not the heresies that the RCC teach.

As I pray the Rosary, I visualize me handing roses to Our Heavenly Mother....sometimes, during the sorrowful mysteries, I'm also hugging her. It keeps me present, and very aware of her GREATNESS.
Did Mary die? Then she can not be the mother of God! God can not have a mother as He was the Alpha, which means The First of all things, who created everything under him! You clearly do not under-stand how words must operate within logic to be true, justcas numbers must add up to be correct! You are all being completely fooled onto believing in myths and fables that lead you into the darkness!

Even priests are guilty of that, my latin Mass Priests pray the Hail Mary in latin way too fast. I enjoy praying each Hail Mary slowly and respectfully to the Blessed Virgin.

All I know about the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal is that Matt Fradd wanted to be one because the habits are cool.
Ive started adding a phrase from the Litany of Loreto after Mother of God: mystical rose, queen of martyrs, Virgin most amiable, etc.

Satan hates humans; Satan hated Adam and Eve; Satan is scared to death of Mary because he knows that through her came Jesus, and in bringing Him into the world, crushed Satan's head under her heel.
The Rosary will keep Satan stewing, and his followers are blinded to Mary and her prayer.
