That lady playing with flailing arms was actually a promo for a telenovela called the road to destiny about some girl who plays the violin and is loved by all handsome guys convieniently
Stephan Juvik They both belong in the flute family. However, she did not say that she was holding an instrument in the flute family, she specifically said the flute, which is definitely not a recorder
@@stephanjuvik6266 Uh, no she wasn't, you twit. No one calls a recorder a flute in "daily speak". Stop trying to tell the world that only YOUR opinion matters, when the rest of the world knows differently. If you want to call it a flute, go ahead. No one else does. Just stop thinking that you are correct that most people call a recorder a flute, because they don't. They aren't even held the same, perpendicular to each other. Even 3rd graders who learn the recorder call it a recorder, not a flute. So go ahead, but you're the only person who is going to call a flute a recorder, and you look like a fool. tbh I think that might be a language issue for a lot of ppl, no idea in this case, but I called the recorder flute for the longest time because "flauta" or "flauta dulce" in spanish means recorder, and only when you say "flauta travesera" will it be the actual flute, also it's a really special one cause most if not every other instruments are the same, like, violin = violin, piano = piano, harp = arpa, clarinet = clarinete, recorder = flauta, so unless you specifically study music chances are you will mess up recorder
@@johjoh9270 I had the same problem. Just receently I discovered that it is called recorder in english, and not flute, because in portuguese the recorder's name is "flauta doce"

They don't even teach the recorder at the schools in Kansas City, Kansas anymore. The lady that was moving around so much WAS acting. She stars on a telenovela and the character she does plays the violin, so this was like a “live performance”. Obviously she isn’t playing but people can tell she’s acting as the character from the show.

Twoset: They’re fake-playing !! Me, a non-musician but religiously watches Twoset videos where I learn a bit about violin playing and music theory: YEAH EXPOSE THEM LOOK AT THAT SACRILEGIOUS BOW HOLD
A recorder is an internal duct flute. Western concert flutes aren't the only kind of flute. There are whole families of duct flutes, transverse flutes, and plenty more that don't include the western concert flute.
I proposed to my wife a couple years ago at Rome. There I saw a couple actual and talented violininst but also a few more fake ones which had waay more people around them because they were "playing" movie soundtracks instead of non-copyright/classical music. I could tell they were fake from afar but it looks like a lot of people fall into it. It is just sooo lame.
Brett and Eddy are the best teachers in the world. Honestly, I've learned so much in the last two years about classical music and unfortunately it started to get painful watching fake playing on TV because I've never payed attention to it before. Also, I know more about the violin even though I don't play it than I know about the piano which I'm playing since nine years. Just want to say thank you to twosetviolin and Editor-San for entertaining and educating me in a fun way. ly guy's
9 years? stop lying. I'd believe you if you said you learned 9 years ago, but you're saying you've been playing for that much time. I've been playing for 8 and a half years, and I did not really learn anything from Brett and Eddy in terms of classical theory. All I learned were the simple mechanics of the violin. I watch twoset purely for entertainment because I can relate as I am very fond of music theory in both jazz and classical theory. I do see beginners learning a lot from twoset. But a pianist who's been playing for 9 years? If you're not lying, then chances are is that there is something wrong with either your memory or perception of time.
@@TheReal4th @Do not read my profile picture Have you heard of not playing classical music and learning by yourself? I've played for 7 years and I just recently about a year ago started taking real lessons in it. I didn't know more about the piano classically in general because I wasn't trained in it. Just because someone isn't familiar with the classical scene of an instrument they play doesn't change the fact they have played for a long time
katy perry: *plays recorder* what comes out: *flute sounds* me, a wind player: *visible confusion* edit: I KNOW MY PROFILE PICTURE IS PIANO… I PLAY BOTH ;;;
I was confuse because of their reaction😂 I really thought it was a flute because in french it is a " flute à bec" i didn't know that in english this would be "recorder" cause i thought that recorder was something to record 😂
In her defense, in German, the recorder is also called 'flute'. However, the sound that came out was clearly from a legit flute and not a recorder. In addition, if you want to catch the sound of the recorder with a mic, you'd have to point it at the top of the flute, where the sound is created, and not at the bottom hole. So the girl wasn't the only one on stage not having a clue what is happening here.
In spanish, or at least in my country, it's called "flauta dulce" which would translate as "sweet flute"... First time I learned it was called recorder was in this channel some days ago
In Polish it's called flet prosty witch mean straight flute or simple flute but its about direction because flute is called flet poprzeczny witch mean tranverse flute
That fake “violinist” girl it’s actually an actress, her name is Paulina Goto but I don’t know why she would do that. This was 3 years ago I think. Edit: It’s a Telenovela “Un Camino Hacia El Destino”, she’s a violinist in there, you should react to it!!!
But still she’s pretending to play, isn’t she? I mean she has a mic, or are the prologue watching that show fully aware that she’s just acting and not playing? I’m intrigued because the performance looks so bad, sorry
nLau0509 She’s pretending but the audience thinks she is playing. I just watched an interview with her and it was a show where they presented the Telenovela officially with real audience. In the interview she says she has musical knowledge because she plays the piano and also says that hasn’t touched a violin in her life (clearly) but she was taking classes (I don’t believe that because she would know at least how to grab the bow or where are the notes). I don’t know a lot about violin (I play piano and cello) but it was clear that she didn’t have a clue, don’t want to be mean tho. She’s a great actress in other telenovelas :).
The "Un Camino Hacia El Destino" performer reminds me of how us saxophonists are often depicted in works of fiction dancing around as we play our instruments and holding them up high in the air. Like, it's really hard to maintain good tone while doing that. Not to mention that most common saxes are rather heavy.
Katy Perry’s audio was indeed a flute, so technically she was correct in that she can’t play the flute, because how can you play the flute if you’re holding a recorder, huh? HUH?! 😆
Yea... she must have known the backing track was a flutist and even if she did know that she was actually playing a recorder the old fruedian slip got her
That's true. Also, I wonder, if you have such a recorder, all covered in glitter and diamond-like stuff, can you actually produce a sound if you play on it?🤔🤔
Once at my middle school talent show the person announcing my talent said I was going to play, “The tiny guitar.” I was playing Mozart violin concerto in G.
I have to tell this story here. Once on my school they invited a super good director, he had this amazing idea of playing a video live made by the students of the school. He had wrote the score. They hired a professional orchestra, and the choir of the school participated (I was there). There was something odd on the rehearsals, the musicians knew it but the choir didn't. Here's what happened. The orchestra was playing live, but the "director" decided to play some midi audios while the orchestra was playing. The concert was a mess, the voices where live. I don't now why he did that, but it was really disrespectful for everyone, the musicians and the public. It happened a couple years ago but I'm sure I'm never going to forget it. We really doubt he was a real director, he didn't even knew how to count or mark entrances. The music was amazing, if he was really the composer he is amazing but I doubt that a real composer would do that to his composition. Hope you understand, I'm knew at learning English. I actually use these videos to practice.

@K Lu @I am a potato This is actually from a telenovela, the orchestra was hired to try and make the scene more realistic. The telenovela was basically about a girl who loved playing violin. That's why she's there in the first place. The orchestra was part of the whole act. The telenovela was fairly good plot-wise and such, but the actress couldn't fake playing violin for the life of her so they had to hire people who could actually play to accompany her to draw attention somewhat away from her for the most part :/
@Salty4 Suga fair enough I suppose. Going with one of your points however, that fake violin playing was sacrilegious enough to be on par with Ben Lee’s “performance” of flight of the bumblebee Not Vov Dylan though, Vov Dylan was just a whole other level of sAcriLeGious
When I was a child, I had a semi-expensive violin, like $5,000. My bow was pretty cheap though. Like $500. My case had a lock and these boys at my school always tried their guess the combination. One day, they got it by pure luck. They swung my bow around like sword and someone tightened it way too much. In the end, my bow snapped and they payed for it. Just a short story
In Germany, recorder is called flute and flute is called "Querflöte", translated to diagonal flute or sideway flute. Sarah the recorder player even made a video with lots of recorder translations and in most languages the translation contains flute in it. So actually, "recorder" is the weird one
In dutch a recorder is called a blockflute I always wondered what it was called in english But know that i know I think recorder is an odd name When i think of recorder i think of a sound recording device

I literally pull out my trumpet and still get asked if I play violin, despite the fact that I am sitting in the brass section.... holding a brass instrument.
The one where the woman played recorder: The music wasn't even from a recorder! It was flute music. Recorders are much more high pitched and you can't do all of the notes like the flute music did.
I saw a fake once, so i grabbed a scrap of paper and wrote "lol u fake exposed" and dropped it in their case, and then i walked away trying not to laugh
If I had the time to do this, I'd write "FAKE", with an arrow pointing to the scammer, on a piece of cardboard and I'd lean it against something nearby. (You can get a piece of cardboard from almost any shop you enter).

TRUE STORY: I was moving across the US and stayed in Tennessee for a night at a motel. I was traveling with a pedal harp and had to bring it into my motel room for the night. Unfortunately, I was on the second story and there were no elevators ☹️ so I had to take it up an outdoor flight of stairs. I started slowly pulling it up with my harp dolly and some friendly dude nearby asked, "Hey, do you need help?" For the safety of the harp, I don't let people touch it unless I've trained them, but I will let people open doors and spot me in case of emergency. So this dude is spotting me and asks, "Is this a cello?" ... It's over 60 lbs and harp shaped, so this implied that he had never seen a harp or a cello before. "Haha, no. It's a harp." I thanked him for his help, had a good laugh and wished him a good night. The next morning, I had to move the harp down the same flight of stairs. A thoughtful woman asked if she could help, so I let her spot me. "You're pretty confident to be moving such a big instrument by yourself." *Pause* "I've never seen a cello before. Pretty cool!" 😂🤦♀️ Moral of the story, plenty of people don't even know what these instruments look like, so you can't expect them to know how they're played.
My friend was asked by a teacher if her *bass clarinet* (40-50 lb instrument) was a violin. Then she hastily tried to cover up by saying “oh yeah, my cousin also plays the clarinet” smh
Is no one mentioning how Katy Perry's hands aren't on the right position for playing recorder? It's always the left up and right down. Same for most wind instruments. I always get irritated when they mess that part up in Chinese period dramas

Funnily in france , a recorder is called a Flute. We make the difference between recorder and flute by saying either Flute à bec or Flute traversière but it would be fine if you just said flute for recorder
In the Netherlands as well: blokfluit, dwarsfluit. But you normally use the whole word blokfluit for recorder and for the flute you can also just say fluit.
I'd say that "recorder" is the oddity compared to what other languages refer it as. That word has like 10 different meanings in english. In finnish it would be "nokkahuilu" which would be loosely translated as "beak flute". Just saying huilu (flute) would be a general word for the flute instruments.

Wait, how? I understand getting an Alto Recorder and a Soprano Clarinet mixed up, but a Flute (I'm a Clarinet player by the way)? To be fair though, in my band class, some of my fellow Clarinet players would hold their Clarinets in the same way a Flute player would hold their instrument.
The flute is unique in the way it is held and played (To the side instead of in front of you). I don’t understand how people get it mixed up with other instruments. I’m a flute player, by the way, so the recorder-flute mixup really triggered me.
@@aminawinterwater2915 Well it's easy to explain. For a non-musician any (not huge) wind instrument not clearly made from brass is 'a flute'. Somewhere near the bassoon size it becomes 'a tuba' :-) Btw 'the recorder' term I believe is unique to English. In most languages it's some kind of a 'flute'. In mine it's called - 'blockflute'!

*Fun story:* once on a family trip to West Virginia, we were eating dinner in this restaurant. There was supposed to be a band but they were late to arrive, which was announced and apologized for. Suddenly this old man is standing on the stage, introducing himself as Jerry and claiming that he had 19 Academy Award nominations and had won 12. He sets up his laptop and says that he recorded the piano backing track - I could clearly see it was a random youtube video. He starts playing Do You Want To Build A Snowman from Frozen and tells us that he wrote it. At this point I’m like “this guy seems a little overqualified...” He begins walking around the restaurant with his UNPLUGGED electric violin while the music is obviously coming from the stage speaker. As a violin student, I’m like “...is this guy actually faking this rn?” So I watch his fingerings and bowings - he’s slurring on separated notes, his fingers go up when the pitch goes down, all his string crossings are incorrect, etc. At this point I tell the rest of my family and we all get a laugh out of it. Props to Jerry, he made my night and literally everyone else in the restaurant believed him.

You make it look like you're playing the instrument wrong so people think you're faking it, but really you've created an elaborate new system for generating noises that sound like the instrument you are faking you are faking (switching strings, maybe more complicated processing happening on the fly for more trickiness?), then when someone tries to expose you you go "lol actually I just put this instrument on expert New Game +, bro it's a prank!".
You ever try to download that old source mod, The Hidden? It's super sketchy and looks like a virus waiting to happen, but it's actually 100% legit. So I'd imagine fake scammers are something like that.

Lesson one in playing the flute: You need to actually hold a flute in your hands.
But she was holding a flute. A recorder is a musical instrument in the flute family, or in daily speak a flute.
Stephan Juvik They both belong in the flute family. However, she did not say that she was holding an instrument in the flute family, she specifically said the flute, which is definitely not a recorder

tbh I think that might be a language issue for a lot of ppl, no idea in this case, but I called the recorder flute for the longest time because "flauta" or "flauta dulce" in spanish means recorder, and only when you say "flauta travesera" will it be the actual flute, also it's a really special one cause most if not every other instruments are the same, like, violin = violin, piano = piano, harp = arpa, clarinet = clarinete, recorder = flauta, so unless you specifically study music chances are you will mess up recorder

@ZenoDovahkiin thank you! 😊
The real orchestra would really feel rubbish playing with the fake soloist. How insulting.
@K Lu it still baffles me as to why they included her in their performance.
Going with one of your points however, that fake violin playing was sacrilegious enough to be on par with Ben Lee’s “performance” of flight of the bumblebee

"You're pretty confident to be moving such a big instrument by yourself." *Pause*

My friend was asked by a teacher if her *bass clarinet* (40-50 lb instrument) was a violin. Then she hastily tried to cover up by saying “oh yeah, my cousin also plays the clarinet” smh
UngovernedReason fair but harps do cost quite a bit, and the bigger they are the more easily they can fall/get damaged
Is no one mentioning how Katy Perry's hands aren't on the right position for playing recorder? It's always the left up and right down. Same for most wind instruments. I always get irritated when they mess that part up in Chinese period dramas
well no one's mentioning that she is playing a recorder and the audio is of a flute

Wasn't Katy Perry faking that "flute" on every concert she had? Like an intermission to make her fans laugh
Yes she faked it ( By autotune). And she doesn't even know that she was playing a recorder than a 'flute.' That's why I dislike these musicians who want to play the instrument for the fans and not for themselves.
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 maybe her misnaming the recorder as "flute" was part of the joke.
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 and that wasn't autotune. She was faking over a pre-recorded flute (yes, flute) audio. Autotune is a music editing program that pich corrects ppl's voices.

It’s a lot more fun to actually play an instrument, because you can say “I did that with the skills I developed with my hard work”
Feels good
Took me months on end to learn to play 8 chords on ukulele and now I won't stop playing them because it feels good that I can. Fake buskers want their instruments taking off them until they can learn to play them.
So true!
Totally! I love how when my phone is dead or I don't have the specific song downloaded, I can just play the guitar and do the tabs I learned online.
It's a small thing, but feels nice sometimes
That’s true for al most anything

Funnily in france , a recorder is called a Flute.
We make the difference between recorder and flute by saying either Flute à bec or Flute traversière but it would be fine if you just said flute for recorder
In German it's also like this, you say "Blockflöte" or "Querflöte" .
And just "Flöte" you can say to both instruments. 😊
Random guy in spanish we do the same “flauta” and “flauta transversal”
In the Netherlands as well: blokfluit, dwarsfluit. But you normally use the whole word blokfluit for recorder and for the flute you can also just say fluit.
I'd say that "recorder" is the oddity compared to what other languages refer it as. That word has like 10 different meanings in english. In finnish it would be "nokkahuilu" which would be loosely translated as "beak flute". Just saying huilu (flute) would be a general word for the flute instruments.
Same in Spanish
The girl with the violin is part of a scene from a telenovela and she is acting because her character was a violinist xD This was like the last scene of the telenovela where she finally made it
Telenovelas are so extra

Every three years, approximately 150-200 musicians audition for the chance to obtain a Subway Musicians Licence. The top 75, as selected by qualified judges, have the opportunity to perform in 25 of the TTC’s subway stations.
The fake ones at the top of this video should be reported as they took a license away from someone else more deserving.
How were they approved in the first place?
@@studentemail19 That's what I was trying to figure out...Like, were they allowed to bring the speaker into the audition room? Did no one notice?? Or....do they not actually have a license and are faking it ILLEGALLY?!? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@altyraenevenstar7960 Yeah, dude. Either that or buying out the judges into giving them the license. Either way, these people suck :p

something similar happened to me lol, the conductor took his son to the rehearsal, and said "let's make a video for youtube with you playing and my son playing the solo" we went to record in the middle of several trees in a open space. We clearly couldn't hear us, but in the video there was an orchestra with wind instruments and everything. Our "orchestra" only has string instruments.

It’s one thing to get an oboe and clarinet mixed up, but getting a flute and clarinet mixed up is unacceptable
Somewhere near the bassoon size it becomes 'a tuba' :-)
Btw 'the recorder' term I believe is unique to English. In most languages it's some kind of a 'flute'. In mine it's called - 'blockflute'!
@@AntonNidhoggr I guess that makes sense. But she was from the US, as far as I know, so she probably should know the recorder term. And I was speaking from my experience. I started playing flute about 3 years ago, but I could identify a flute long before that.

Though did you record him? XD I would like to see it

I once let my step-brother try to hold and possibly play my viola. What he actually did was take my bow and use it as a sword. He ended up hitting the bow on my closet edge and many strings came off, so now I have a thin bow. please don't let your siblings touch your viola/violin etc. :,)
I broke a string on my moms old violin because apparently the tuning machines are much more sensitive than the one's on a guitar 😅
No respect whatsoever
Yeah, I play viola as well and I used my sisters old viola, and when it was still hers a somehow made the tightening thing on the end of the bow pop off and I had to get it fixed when I went to school. Moral of the story don’t let younger siblings touch your instrument unless they know how to play it
My mum had this big shiny baratone from being in her high-school band. Me and my lil cousin thought it was so cool and pretty, that we should make it better with stickers. Keep your instruments away from kids. We did end up getting most rhe stickers off after, but irs not great. Still have it tho. Plays wonderfly

"protecting the world from fake scammers"
what are fake scammers lol
Well, they are so fake, they aren't even real scammers.
I dunno, a fake scammer to me sounds like someone who pranks people, making them think they've been scammed and then return their money or whatever to them xD
Scammers but fake
Scammers scam people because they are very good at what they do, deception. These guys are absolutely horrible at it. They are a fake version of a scammer.

I for one know that "Mexican" could always refer to Mexican Spanish or the unique dialectal difference of Mexican Spanish speakers to the mainlanders or South American spanish speakers.
Yet I know they were referring to Spanish because they probably aren't thinking of "Mexican spanish" and harkened back to the country they remember spanish is spoken in.
