Thank you so much for your support. I was chatting with another friend who feels the same as I do in the sense that our faith is so much a part of who we are, leaving that part out of a video chat would be odd. It’s just who we are. Glad you appreciate it!

Thank you so much for these beautiful videos of your quilts and the stories that go with them. I cannot wait to see the next one! Thank you also for sharing your faith so openly and beautifully. It is so refreshing to hear scripture being read out loud for the world to hear! I also attend a Calvary Chapel where I live. Your quilts and your testimony, they are amazing!

Hi Bonnie, those are beautiful quilts, my mom taught me to knit years ago, she did different crafts, she worked a full time job as a LPN at a seniors home when we were young and raised us three kids on her own, she was widowed at 35, my dad died from a car accident when I just turned 11, I am now 59. So she didn’t have lots of time to really enjoy her crafts but I have some things she has made. My mom passed away in 2015, and I sure understand your grief, I am going through it to. I break into tears quite often let them flow my dear, let them flow, it really helps me when I release the pain. You are a sweetheart and I am so glad I found you on UA-cam your a gentle soul❤️🙏Love and peace sent your way.

Thank you for your statements about your faith in Christ. It is much needed in my life right now. I am a 64 year old widow, who is awaiting a test result for Covid. My son- in - law just tested positive. I haven’t been able to see my 99 year old mother for almost 9 months now, because of this pandemic, she is shut up in a nursing home. I am alone day and night, especially now because I have quarantined myself, all I have is Jesus. It is nice to see and hear from others that love him too. God bless you

Bonnie I enjoy hearing about your projects past & present and all the memories of you and your Mom. I lost my Mom in 2017 and she was an amazing seamstress as well, so I learned so much from her. I’ve had a hard time getting back to sewing at my machine as I have this fear if I get stuck I won’t know what to do since she was always there to ask. I just need to trust in all she taught me and know I could think it through. So I understand your feelings when you talk about yours. Cross stitch has been what has given me comfort just being able to sit and stitch with a needle helps me feel connected to my Mom. All your quilts are inspiring me to get moving forward and just turn on that machine! Have a blessed week😊 -Anne

bizybee65 Anne, I’m glad to know more about you and the love you had for your dear Mom. I couldn’t be in my sewing room for a few years because it always reminded me of her in here with so many of her treasures. Yes, sometimes we move on to other comforts and it’s good to let time heal the wounds a bit. I know you’ll be fine when you are ready to get back in front of the machine. There are so many great tutorial videos out there to help you over the bumps. God bless you!

Enjoyed your video, Bonnie. I love Maggie B patterns. I also have most of her books, they are such eye candy. The trick for when your Valdani thread is low, is to pull your thread in and out if the label tag and then wrap the thread around the tag and the ball.

Diane Kubicki another fan of Maggie B! She’s amazing! I’ll definitely give that trick a try to keep the tags on the balls of thread. I just love the colors of Valdani pearl cotton. I’ll be trying the 6 strand Valdani floss soon...not sure if I’ll love it as much, but it will be fun to try.

I have been enjoying your videos so much! I am mostly a cross stitcher but have dabbled in making beaded bracelets myself. Would love to see the bracelets you’ve made and possibly some tutorials on how to make them in the future. Janet Tucker I’m glad you loved the bracelet! I sometimes wear them just to have something handmade when I go to work to remind me I’ll be home in my happy spot soon. I’ve been thinking how I can do a little tutorial on bracelets, so that could be in the future. I tend to saturate myself in one big project and then move to another after awhile. Right now it’s certainly cross stitch....my quilting has been put on pause...and I haven’t beaded since December. I get so focused on what I’m working on, my mind keeps moving forward in that realm.

OMG....I wish I had your email...so much to share!! I too, suffer from anxiety. I too, have lots of stash for wool applique, cross stitching, and quilting; though I dream more than I produce....that is my weakness. Valdani pearl cotton is my "go to" for the wool applique. Love your KT quilt and it gives me inspiration to make one for myself and utilize some of the many layer cakes and charm packs of those fabrics. My best friend and myself took a class from Lisa Bongean a few years back when she taught at the Maine Quilt Show. Not only was the class wonderful, but also her having a booth to purchase from. I have yet to use all I bought that day. Have a wonderful collection of books, patterns, and magazines in my sewing room and I treasure all of them. If you enjoy reading fiction, have you ever read the Elm Creek Quilt series by Jennifer Chiaverinni? If not, you should. Great down to earth read and many of them out there. I have read all but the most recent in that series. I so admire you putting yourself out there; honesty is an admirable quality and can sometimes help one heal.

Bonnie I bought Lisa B's wool book recently as I'm having a go at wool applique (thanks to Anna) although not happy with wool I've ordered as it frays. Hey ho. I'm more of a jewel colour girl and love batiks (recently finished a wallhanging with all aqua/purply coloured leaves, chain stitched branches with lilac background) and Hoffman Japanese fabrics. I tried to use my stash of the latter making a scrappy quilt - and ended up buying more and began making an EPP 'New York Beauty ' - which will take years! My friends love the darker colours and I love how they use them as you do yours. Sitting stitching our daughter a winter lap quilt for surprise Xmas gift as I've watched you after listening to a morning Service. Thanks.

    • @logcabinstitcher7274
      @logcabinstitcher7274  4 роки тому

Jean Mansfield It’s been a while since I bought wool, but I believe I wash mine in hot, dry it part way in the dryer and then hit it with the iron so I can get the most shrinkage to make the weave tighter. Yes, I loose some of the color in overdyes, but I didn’t want the fraying either. I need to review the steam-a-seam method to help the edges stay in place also. Another reason why that book was a good purchase. I love seeing all the other styles of quilts my friends in the quilt guild produce. I’m so inspired with those jewel tones, brights and florals turn out, and have even ventured into making and purchasing some, but always come back to my dark and comfy style. So glad you’re enjoying watching and I love your comment!

I love your hand quilting, is it cheating if I send my quilts to my friend who has a computerized long arm?

PR RUNE oh yes, coffee makes everything better! No, it’s not cheating a bit to ‘send out’ your quilt to get it quilted. I’m just a control freak! I want the entire process to be under my needle. I’m glad you’ve found someone to help you in the process and it certainly speeds it up! I keep thinking I need to ‘just let go’ and then.... I just haven’t been able to yet. So I’ve got lots of unfinished quilts.

Bonnie, enjoyed your quilts/Valdani Thread and stories. Your wool appliqué squirrel pillow is so much fun. I enjoy wool appliqué as well, in fact last month I published my first wool appliqué pattern for eyeglass cases - one with a sunflower and one with a hydrangea bloom. I was able to source the wool locally and that was really fun to do. I featured the pattern on my last two FlossTube videos if you want to take a look. One of my favorite verses for when I am feeling anxious is Psalm 94:19 - When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Thy consolations delight my soul. Hope you have a great week. Happy Stitching.

I saw a flosstube where they showed a trick to keep the number tag on your valdani thread. I think it was Lisa Bonjean. You thread your needle and then put the needle a couple times through the tag and then as you pull the thread, the tag moves down and stays attached. It’s hard to explain. If I find the video, I’ll let you know.

I went home and listened to her music and watched her on UA-cam and just love her personality, her faith and her music. I did a search and apparently it’s not at all unusual for people to have the same UA-cam channel name because we have different url addresses. I still think it’s weird that they would let that happen. Thanks for being understanding. As long as we share our own link when we want someone to find us, we’ll be ok. Lisa’s shop is in Menasha, Wisconsin. That is where main headquarters for PG is and where she lives. Not Minnesota

Is the thirties quilt with the embroideries available in a book or pattern? It is a beautiful quilt that I can graph for myself but wonder what embroidery designs your mother used. Thanks

Connie Steele I just found out last night the designer passed away earlier this year. I’m trying to see if there are any patterns available, but it had a copy-write date of 1999. Otherwise , I’ll get real measurements and see if that might help people find embroidery or crewel patterns to fit in the blocks. Thanks for asking and I’ll give updates in my upcoming videos.
