  • It's been a long time since I talked about Kingdom Hearts and I really wanted to put an update out to catch myself up on the latest KH stuff that's been out since I was last active here (and to prove I'm not dead).
    TIMESTAMPS:
    0:00 - Introduction
    1:27 - Where I've Been
    3:25 - Union X and Dark Road
    9:45 - ReMind Thoughts
    12:03 - Melody of Memory
    15:49 - The Future of KH (pre-KH4)
    20:10 - Kingdom Hearts IV
    25:10 - The KH Disney+ Series
    I apologise so much for the poor quality. I need a new camera (heck, my phone gave better video AND audio quality than my main cam) and filming just hasn't been a priority lately. Hopefully this still gets the job done and I tried to mitigate the noise as best I could in the meantime.

    I have to say I had really hoped the next title would be some kind of game that focused on Kairi and Aqua tbh, but hopefully we'll get some of that in 4. I also would love it if they embraced the multiple playable characters of Re:mind and let us really go wild
    Also I feel like I'm in the minority that really likes the FF style of things lol, I'm definitely excited to see what Quadratum has to offer even if it's just the start of the game
    Not that I want the series to fully shift that way, but I wouldn't be against a less Disney centered game
    Anyway, great to see you back again man! One of the first things I thought after seeing the KH4 trailer was what you thought about it

      For sure. If we get caught up on Riku's activities during KH4 and not Kairi's, I'll feel extremely ripped off. It's bad enough that she's getting stuck with more training before the writers feel like she can do anything, but the saving grace of that is her spending more time with Aqua. If we don't even get that much from the next big numbered title, we'll be getting cheated.
      But still, I'm staying optimistic about what's to come. And thanks!

    Dude it is so great to hear that you are a fellow believer in Christ, I have had a feeling about that for a while but it is very great to learn that, and also I would still love to see the QNA video finished because I asked a lot of questions and would love to see them answered, also I completely agree I hate mobile games, I only just got a phone about 8 months ago and instantly downloaded the game, but by the time I got it I could only watch the cutscenes and the theater is awfully out of order so I had to use a guide to watch it in order, and I still cannot play Dark Road because it is down until the final update comes out, so once it comes out I will be checking it out, Also I really wish Missing Link was a Switch game because I hate playing games on a phone or tablet, and REmind is so good, I absolutely loved beating all of the bosses, this was the first Kingdom Hearts game where I leveled up to 99 and beating Yozora was one of the most accomplishing things I have ever done in a game, and I made sure to beat him before Melody Of Memory came out, and I loved Melody Of Memory it was so much Fun. and dude the KH4 trailer is so good I am so excited I have watched the trailer countless times, I am really curious if the show will be canon with the games telling a new story but I agree with you a new reboot series would be extremely fun and interesting to watch, Also just to let you know I am TBDCandBilbo on PSN, I might have told you that before in other videos comment sections I dont know, but yes a lot of exciting things in the future coming and I really hope we get Marvel and Star Wars in this new arc, I hope the rest of your internship goes well, and I hope you have a great day today.

      Hey dude, thanks! Sorry for a bit of a late reply, things have been hectic, but yeah, I remember you! It's good to hear from you and I hope you have a great day too.
      And yeah, I think KH4's first trailer is likely indicating a heavier emphasis on live-action content. Star Wars is already theorised to have been shown, which is pretty cool, so I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel stuff made the cut as well. If they do still have animated worlds, I'd still love to see what they look like. I'm never going to stop holding out hope for Treasure Planet representation.

    The GOAT!! Thought you were officially done with Kingdom Hearts. Not like it matters, but I sorta am in the same place as you are. A small part of me wants to keep going but a large part of me is what’s making me let go because I’m not liking this Versus XIII adaptation to this series with the fake worlds, and just like you I feel they are taking things to the maximum that it becomes hard to keep track of. One of the reasons I didn’t like DDD is because of the time travel mechanic which eventually ruined everything I feel and now we’re stuck with what feels like contrivances most of the time. Nomura (no joke) literally had the opportunity to start FRESH! But once again he seems to always do TOO MUCH! And it saddens me so much to see that for this new arc we’re going to have this Stockholm syndrome with the lore and it’ll be a repeat of the stuff we dealt with in the past decade. Like dude the whole KH4 trailer was just FF15 and FF7R combined into one just with organization cloaked characters and Sora (whose new appearance sorta irks me as well) even the girl who helped him is a knockoff of Stella just with brown hair and green eyes. Idk where I stand I feel like if this was 2015 or 16 I would’ve been all for it cause I’ve wanted something like this for so long but because of waiting so long I’m like.. “oh finally but not I’m not as hyped” but I’ve never thought I would reach a point with this series where I’m genuinely conflicted & negative about it to the max but that’s how it is I guess. Oh and also #justiceforkairi #makekairigreatagain

      I get that, but I think it does help that it's coming _after_ KH3 and not before. Like, KH4 will be the first main game of the new story arc, even Melody of Memory felt more like a Xehanort saga game than a Lost Master arc. So it's good that if things are going to go more off-rails than before in a bit of an experimental new direction, at least it's happening at the start of something new.
      I will say, it's worth remembering that FFXV and FF7R took inspiration from Kingdom Hearts in how they were done, so a modern Kingdom Hearts game that resembles them is probably not a bad thing. It's a natural evolution of the gameplay.
      In my case, I was actually incredibly hyped for Versus XIII back in the day and I was gutted when it became FFXV and ended up so disappointing. So to be honest, I'm actually really interested to experience those concepts in Kingdom Hearts. And if it leads to the reinvention of Versus XIII through Verum Rex, I'm okay with that.
      I still say the series is at risk of collapsing under the weight of its own lore, but with any hope, we'll get a fun game out of it. Hopefully one that remembers Kairi's existence.

      @@Xackadee Very true on the FF stuff, I apologize for the negativity I really don’t like being that way towards this series. Cause it really holds a place in my heart as a little kid. It’s just I wish KH just focused on how KH1 wrote and handled the characters again. If Nomura could just reel back a bit & focused on making the characters interesting again and not be so one dimensional like in KH3, then maybe I can get into those and let go of the story shenanigans. I want to have hope but damn do I still feel super conflicted, cause while the gameplay can be super enjoyable the whole point of KH is it’s story & with it now being so out of Nomura element it’s concerning to see him in the same place again.
      Super Random question: I want to know do you remember the term *Ventusora*

    Hey ! Is the disney+ series confirmed or is this just a rumour ?

    • @Xackadee
      @Xackadee  2 роки тому +1

      As far as I'm aware, yeah, it's confirmed. Not officially - by certain Disney figures on Twitter - but it does sound like it's happening. It was around 2020-2021 that it got a lot of buzz, so I'd assume it's been delayed by everything and in the first place it was only said to be happening. There's very little news about it but it should still be on the horizon.
      At the very least, we haven't been told it's not happening since it was reported.

    I'm bored of Kingdom Hearts, should have ended with 3 then in a few years maybe have been remade

    • @Xackadee

      Bit of an ironic thing to say, given your name and avatar!
      The Dark Seeker saga has definitely ended at least, so there's no more Xehanort. And while I love KH3's ending, I would be sad if the series ended with Sora completely lost like that. Basically, I'm okay with the series continuing and starting a new arc. I'm just nervous about them building up yet more reality bending lore that they'll potentially change the rules of down the line anyway just to do it.
      Still, I'm willing to give it a chance since it's just getting started and it does look very cool. I still love these characters too much to just let it go. Needless to say, Square Enix are really going to need to stick the landing with this one.

      @@Xackadee Honestly I would have loved if the series ended with KH2, just take out the extra scene at the end and that was a fine way for the characters to complete their arcs. All they did going forward was introduce time travel inconsistencies to the plot and make death matter even less by everyone just come back. Also I think I'm done giving anything with disneys name on it my money, they need to stay out of politics lol

    • @Xackadee
      @Xackadee  2 роки тому

      @@Roxas77 Personally, I just completely disagree with that. I enjoyed 358/2 Days and Dream Drop Distance and the justice they did their characters too much to imagine a world where we didn't get the kind of closure that we got out of them. (BBS was good too.) It's an oversimplification to say that it was nothing but time travel inconsistencies that overlooks the joy and beauty that came out of the games leading up to and including III.
      And it didn't cheapen death because the characters never actually died in the first place. The only thing cheapening death in the series is that lack of death stakes that already exists from the beginning of the franchise due to the complicated rules of heartless, nobodies and replicas that everybody keeps perceiving as death. It's its own problem, but it is - mercy to me for saying this - consistent.
      In a nutshell, that characters that came back deserved to come back and the series gave us no less than 5 games before III showing us that and building up to that quest. It was pretty earned.

      @@Xackadee I agree with you on 358 being good and yes, there is merit and value in some other side games, however my issue with the series as a whole has to do with what you said in your video, squares lack of a plan for the story. It's very obvious they just make up stuff as they go, and it's only gotten worse

    • @Xackadee
      @Xackadee  2 роки тому

      @@Roxas77 Technically, none of them are side games, but yeah.
      I'm okay with stories being made up as they go - it's practically a necessity, especially with a long-running series. But it is all the better the more you can think forward and avoid the cracks, or at least think backwards and better hide them.
      The thing is, I think Nomura does generally have a plan. Nothing airtight, but I'm sure he does think ahead a few games, big picture wise, which is why we get the games we do when we do, even when we don't understand their relevance at the time.
      The problem is, he doesn't look back nearly enough, so the odd details go unresolved over and over until they really pile up. Nomura's a brilliant "Doctor Who", but he needs a companion to keep him grounded as a director so that those kinds of faults are better avoided.
      I like how Kingdom Hearts has conducted itself. I just wish it had a little more control over itself.
