- In this video we discuss the big changes EA have made recently when it comes to Star Wars Games and whether or not it's actually a good thing.. in 2017 EA infamously said nobody was interested in single player games anymore, but since then they were proven wrong by Jedi Fallen Order. Now they seem to be changing things entirely, with multiplayer options like Star Wars Battlefront 2 being thrown away to seamingly make way for more Single Player Star Wars Games.. such as the rumoured KOTOR 3 from Aspyr Media, the rumoured shooter coming as soon as this year and a soon to be announced Jedi Fallen Order sequel!

EA has the mindset of, “oh we are going to give you loads of Star Wars games, just when you aren’t around to play it”
No offense to him but he believes anything EA says. They said they would double down on star wars games but so far we only got half assed squadrons (I say half assed because it was only original trilogy)

I think your right about the balance. There should be single player games with a small online version so people don't abandon the game right away. And have like a battlefront type game out for every like, maybe 5 games, just to keep the community engaged and bring in new gamers.

They really need to get the old star wars team back together and keep the bf2 game updates going for a year or two more

It’s funny how they said single player games were dead and not much later games like rdr2 and god of war 4 came out and were masterpieces, which probably convinced them to drop fallen order

They would be so stupid to not make a battlefront 3 though. They said so themselves on the investors call that they see each of the games they've made as a successful profit, and they would continue each of their franchises. I don't see how its still unlikely that they announce a battlefront 3
what we really need is the Skyrim of Star wars. An open world Star wars game, that gives you so much to do and is just nice to re visit all the time

I have always wanted single player games so I have no idea what EA was ever talking about
I don't see much evidence suggesting EA is focusing more on Singleplayer games, the whole reason for the cancellation/end of SWBF2's support was so they could focus on the next (mostly Multiplayer focused) Battlefield.
They just aren't solely focusing on Multiplayer games anymore.

I am far more likely to play singleplayer games here are the reasons.
1. I have no friends
2. I still have no friends

Just make swbf3, fallen order 2, a new single player commando style shooter, the open world Ubisoft game and call it a day. Why make all single/multi-player games? Capitalize on what’s been successful and what’s expected to be successful

Something that could work for jedi fallen order 2 to keep people coming back would be release the game but not the final scene and they could release another part of the story every month or so.
when u cant balance or mantain decent servers for multiplayer games, jsut make singleplayer games and boom, every single problem they have just disappears
i play both madden and most star wars games and it’s crazy how similar their mishandled of both have been. for star wars they want big multiplayer titles with tons of micro transactions like ultimate team and what battlefront was/is when all the fans want is a single player with lots of customization and all that stuff like franchise. i love both but they have to be done right. thanks for listening to the rant.

You know theOzzyJedi. EA could add some single player to the hopefully to be announced "Battlefront III." Like they can make it like the old instant action mode where you can fight some At-Ats on Hoth, and some single player ground to space mechanics too... So when Battlefront III gets "hopefully" announced... Battlefront III can be balanced too.

I like the story aspect of star wars but that doesn’t mean they should throw away the multiplayer aspect I still prefer the multiplayer experience
The only reason you prefer the multiplayer is because we haven't had a good star wars story yet. I think both are equally good. I buy a game for single player first, i finish it and what am I supposed to do then? Well I go multiplayer of course. Even tho the story is honestly the more entertaining and engaging (only if it's amazing of course?) Multiplayer is always needed or else you would expect a sequel to the game you now love. Playing with firends is of course really fun also so that's why vidoe games require both single and multiplayer. If one lacks the other can carry. But for me I would love them both to be great but a good story is definitely harder to pull off, but pays off better. Btw jedi the fallen order isn't that great when you consider it to be a star wars game because star wars cna literally have a perfect story because there is so much you cna do around star wars in my opinion.

@@chasethechosenone8478 Well that's just a wrong opinion, the multiplayer compared to your good single experience isn't better just because it lasts longer because the multiplayer experience we got so far from satr was games from EA has been a total joke. Battlefront 2 launched with 0 content and only now it feels like it's in a ok state to be released. Your standards are very low therefore you must have bad taste in games or maybe you just haven't played enough and bad games have just grown into you. You should honestly revisit some good games and compare them to you EA's games. Battlefront 2 was just terrible. If you compare the hours between this game and other single player games you'll find yourself bored of them both almost at the same amount of hours if we are talking about the longer single player games. I've recently got back to battlefront 2 the content in it lasted for me for about 4 days of playing a couple of hours. The progression system and the ranking system is bad and the new content that cmae out during the games life cycle wasn't significant and it took a long time to be released. Multiplayer games need seasons and battle passes at this point unless you're planning on making something insanely good which is unlikely to be the case.

I think the small scale shooter is a great idea. Just so they can get gunplay right and bring that over to battlefront 3. Maybe EA is doing what first assault was trying to do. Release an fps game, a vehicle game, collect tons of feedback, then make the large game. I really hope this small scale shooter has a multiplayer similar to CoD but a story similar to halo.

Honestly with fallen order I think it never got cancelled because someone wanted this small, almost disconnected game they thought no one would be interested in, to come out and flop so they could point to it and say “see people hate single player games” but it but them in the ass.

Multiplayer games and live services will still be the philosophy for EA. They need to find the right balance between linear single player games and releasing multiplayer Star Wars games

I want a game with a fully customizable storyline. Can choose to be a Jedi, bounty hunter, smuggler, some kind of guard idk. And fully customizable jedi appearances and clothing, kyber crystal. more jedi force powers maybe.
I can understand where you're coming from. here's my take it, the mass effect and dragon age franchises had little to no multiplayer each and have been thriving since their releases. I can see how fallen order might not have the same thing going but what I'm trying to say is that it is possible for us to have a single player game that people will come back to. ME and DA are NOT without their flaws. not be a long shot. but people keep playing them. it's why we're getting a new installment of each and ME is getting remastered. if EA can get that sort of thing with a star wars game I think many of us would be happy. I could also be wrong in this but if we look at other multiplayer games, by EA no less, in regards to single player games, they have the potential to pull something amazing off.
As someone who doesn't like or play multiplayer modes (at all in fact), I do hope they will keep the single player story modes intact from now on. EA's first Battlefront was essentially an online multiplayer game, which I simply wasn't (and still not) interested in. I was very happy when I learned that Battlefront 2 was getting a singleplayer campaign and while the story was indeed a little predictable, I actually enjoyed it. Remember, DICE is known to keep their stories rather short. Nevertheless, every story they told - rather it is Battlefield or Battlefront - were actually very solid, despite everything. Same goes for Squadrons. For many years, players were only able to play as a Jedi and it was kinda refreshing when a space sim was actually announced (in the words of Palpatine: it was a surprise, but a welcome one). The last Star Wars space sim was Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter from 2002, which I still play on this day, and I am actually glad that EA released Squadrons. There are so many genres you can pick from this license; from RTS to FPS, the opportunities are endless. Just like Lucasarts who made alot of different genres back in the day (RPG, FPS, RTS etc). I think Star Wars games need to keep in balance between singleplayer and multiplayer. Play the story mode, and go to multiplayer if you don't feel like playing the former. If my memories serve, Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy also had a story mode AND multiplayer mode, both of which are not that different from Battlefront 2 and Squadrons, which also have a story mode and multiplayer mode.
"What people didn't want" Nah they knew we wanted singleplayers, but they wanted to milk a little with those microtransactions. Only thing they didn't expect, was that this would never fly with the fans💪

I love all star wars games, both single and multiplayer. But if I had a choice I would want a multiplayer game like a battlefront 3, i usually play because of friends, and the community. EA needs to see that there's a place for both but not only one or the other. Keep the community alive and give us another multiplayer game.
I think aspyr is making the KOTOR game not EA..

Think about Doom - fantastic single Player campaign, fantastic multi-player, and one of the best games of all time. 28 years later we're still talking about the same things - multiplayer vs single. A lot of the recent multiplayer games have missed the single player benefits. Battlefront 2 has got this totally correct. It was the single player mode that attracted me in, and now all I play is the multi-player. Great model. From a Sales perspective the longevity of the users gaming experience perhaps doesn't matter. In that respect I'm eternally grateful that games like Battlefront 2 exist

That’s the thing about Star Wars games, there is no one way, single player, multiplayer, it’s to big just to be put in one category, they have to mix it up and if u look at the old games, they had a variety of different games and they were all successful. Balance is key💯💯

I agree! Look at when Lucas Arts was releasing bangers in the early and mid 2000's. Republic Commando, Episode 3 game, Battle Front 1 and 2. Not a focus on one or the other just make StarWars games. IMO BattleFront can bridge the gap of fun single and multi player in todays world. Bring back galactic conquest and have a good instant action.

This is why we need bf3 with a good story mode then everyone wins. Good story mode you get single player. Online co op with more couch co op modes. And a much bigger roster.
EA has Respawn and DICE - two of the best Multiplayer game designers. These people have made Battlefield 4, MW2 and (god bless its soul) Titanfall 2. Fallen Order was good it's just Respawn are already the literal best in the industry at making multiplayer games they could make like a life-service Republic Commando 2 game with a campaign alongside it and I know so many people who would pre-order instantly (including me).
I prefer games that have a small campaign but there main focus is multiplayer like battlefront 2. I don’t like the idea of a game that has no multiplayer because once I finish the campaign, there’s nothing to do.
i'm not going to drop $60 for a game that doesn't have MONTHS of replayability to it. I enjoy single player games, but once you finish, you're usually finished.
What about offline mp with bots? Instant action of the old Battlefront games (and even Dices BF2's version to a lesser extent..) are very replayable.
EA should drop battlefront 3 with launch having all the heroes people want with a separate preferably a campaign on battlefront 3 about clone wars era something lots of people want it should be focused/ be a sequel to republic commando being focused on them or a new squad of commandos with a second option to play as a separatist commando droid squad focused on the life of droids and how they are treated as virtually nothing in the end of the campaign players should earn something that connects with the multiplayer in battlefront 3 such as cosmetics, currency, and or something similar this mark my words if the multiplayer is constantly supported and intertwined with the campaign will be the best star wars game ever (also they could add a free roam/ freeplay open world option) why can’t EA just think for once
PLZ share this idea/recommendation for bf3(if made), EA should add customization not like outfits, but like change of clothes, lightsabers, hilts, colors and age. Allow players to make their own version of a hero or villian. Imagine a old jedi maul with like a gold hilt and dark blue lightsaber.

Large scale RPG's can keep you coming back too. Though I do agree they should do both.
Yes i think EA should make a game that is a perfect balance of multiplayer and single player but i don't think they will because then they might lose money buy only selling one game instead of two. But in reality they might actually get more money from it because they'd then be selling in two markets at the same time with one game.
I think EA should make a free to play multiplayer battlefront game with constant updates and a long life span and keep making single player games

Think if they take squadrons flight controls, put it in battlefront. When they Make battlefront 3.
Make the campaign is a "War story" style like battlefield, individual stories 1 for each era (1 for each side) tie them together.
Make the "special troopers" 1st person perspective or 3rd, play them republic commando and remove star cards from them. So campaign is played like republic commando more.
Add all the heros we actually want. (We know who we want)
then also add another part to the campaign where you create a jedi. Your own custom character thats considered a "special trooper" and not a hero or villain. Pretty much just a weaker jedi/dark jedi.
Similar mechanics to BF2. And you got an amazing game....

But BattleFront 3 with a story from each era. Or hell, give me something like War Stories from BattleField 1, spanning all 3 eras. That would be so awesome. *And* it could give people that Order 66 mission they’ve always wanted.

I feel like it would be hard for EA not to reinstate live service for battlefront 2 or make a battlefront 3 after all the popularity and surge in players over the past year or so, especially last month with the Epic Games release. I doubt they could make a mistake this big again like with the canceled single player games. Battlefront 3 MUST be made. If not, EA will take a major shot to the foot.

We want booth ... Multiplayer is must !!! And single player too because when we’re done with single player game we need to play something until next single player game come out ! Multiplayer games give us option to jump to Star Wars World anytime we want and don’t need to wait for next single player game release... also I looove to go to play right after I see new movie or episode because I feel like it’s global afterparty... that’s why I looove Battlefront so damn much .... ultimate jump to the world I love so badly ...
I'm fine with BattleFront II, it just needs to use the Apex Legends business model, to have something to grind for on new maps, like new skins for characters and weapons and continuous storyline. That's all it needs.
