Hi Shane, such a great introduction to your proces. I am about to to finish my online PDC with Geoff Lawton. As I started to see this video and saw your drawings, I almost lost confidence in myself 😂 But as you mentioned in the end of the video, that you have been thinking over how to plan your property, I understood why your plans are so precise. Very well done. Cheers from Denmark.
Thanks very much ☺️ It has been a long road, and I have even swayed from this plan already due to practical on-the-ground decisions. It's always good to have roadmap though and be open to tweeking as more information comes to light. Best of luck with your FDE!
@@BoscosGarden Thank you. I believe that working with nature will always be a dynamic proces, therefore a plan should only be guideline. It will be interesting to follow your journey. 😊
Really cool that you have found remnant of the previous occupiers of the house & grounds while cultivating your own crops. I wonder how long you had to browse Ordinance Survey maps to find this info? Lovely pictures of yourself and Bosco on the site of the house as it was being built, never seen those before.
Hi, Geoff Lawton Nice video collection on your channel and looking forward to your WEBSITE - do you make these types of plans for a living? As have a project to do with permaculture and Aquaponics using many forms of technology to increase yield and use land working with nature.
Hi Matthew, good question. I should have said that in the video! I used Google Earth and SketchUp to create the contours and then all of the graphics were created in Photoshop based off of drone photography which I used for scaling.
The soil test I refer to in this was from my veg garden and polytunnel on the house site. It wasn't very thorough to be honest. I haven't really done any proper soil tests on the outfarm site yet, but after planting trees there this year, I would say there is plenty of clay in it. I won't really know until I go digging and if they are defficient in clay, I will use the gleying method that I have used on my current pond, which seems to be working really well. As for the swales, I don't see a problem with using sandy soil for them... From my understanding they would function even better for slowly dispersing water, no?
Love this, thanks for sharing and full of admiration for your energy and enthusiasm!
Thank you! 😊

Hey Shane, great presentation and final design. If you don't mind me asking what software have you used to draw, map and pull together your designs

You are going to put ponds and swales on clay deficient soils.
