T&H Inspiration is on a mission to share inspiring wisdom. The goal is to have you pause, think, and reflect. Many of our videos revolve around the extraordinary teachings of Alan Watts that we produce with permission from the Alan Watts Electronic University.
T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.
Rejecting yourself, your truth, your feelings causes uneasiness, dis-ease.
The Creator is within
The whole UNIVERSE IS WAKE UP PEOPLE ‼️ 2:27
I believe stress is the root of all dis-ease and diseases
Going little deep desire is the root cause
@ravii8 desire is just a symptom. Its not the cause of anything.
It’s old hat
Breath is joy❤ When we inhale & exhale, we participate in natural laws of the universe ❤
It's mind blowing how people survived trauma years ago, before we knew what trauma was.
A question I have always asked myself.
Because people weren't as weak as we are today
@@LIBOFFENDER44very simplistic answer. We don't KNOW what our ancestors bore, went through, had to resist. We have no idea.
Many of them used drugs and alcohol. Still do, but many of us don't so education is essential.
Its good people are seeking education these days unlike the past.
@@LIBOFFENDER44because people had a simple life. Less to think about = easy life.
Pushing the wheelbarrow is easy, thinking about it is hard.
Might want to reflect and realise how wrong you are.
This was such a refreshing video. We know these basic principles of listening to your body but we force ourselves to unlearn them over time. And it's only reinforced by the common crowd, especially in the West
Sit for 20 minutes meditation every day, unless you are too busy, then sit for an hour 😊
@@zovalentine7305 makes a lot of sense 😂
Old Zen quote
Bitch i sit for 16 hours every day!
I love this quote.
Since I have started doing simple meditation four years ago (Part of 'Crappy Childhood Fairy's' 'Daily Practice') I have realized how true this statement of yours is 🙂
Excellent talk. I like how he emphasized that paying attention to breathing, and not necessarily sitting meditation is very useful. I use to sit and meditate. Id feel relaxed....until i went out in the world. It was then thwt i realized that i wanted to be able to centered EVERYWHERE i went
Be aware, breathe with care
@@Rodrigo_Espejo_B yes, one thing he never mentioned is tapping, which I find tremendously soothing...aka emotional freedom technique. It calms me down when upset. Look it up!
Please don't give up.
Everyone of us is responsible for what we say think behave emotional imbalances etc.
“Not all addictions are rooted in abuse or trauma, but I do believe they can all be traced to painful experience. A hurt is at the centre of all addictive behaviours. It is present in the gambler, the Internet addict, the compulsive shopper and the workaholic. The wound may not be as deep and the ache not as excruciating, and it may even be entirely hidden-but it’s there. As we’ll see, the effects of early stress or adverse experiences directly shape both the psychology and the neurobiology of addiction in the brain.”
― Gabor Mate
Some people got addicted to the drugs period. I agree.
Sometimes our body just knows…
In my last relationship, I fought for months with a terrible feeling of anxiety. Deep know I knew breaking up was the right thing to do, but this was a very dear and important person to me. It took me everything I had to finally accept I had to let go. Supressing those feelings of doubt was making me sick, and I knew it.
I thank myself for having listened. It was the right thing to do.
Exactly the same. Thank you for sharing. Thought it would be better when I let him go, and in some sense it is. But I am so freaking miserable. Like I can not any longer relate to my sense of self. 😭
Exact same here, if you could see the girl I was was dating you would say how could you walk away from a 10/10 beautiful girl who was kind and caring.....and I'll answer......something inside of me seen sometimes my eyes or ears didn't pick up on.
My gut was telling me to get out of it, after a few weeks I actually felt myself becoming sick and my mind was in overdrive trying to figure out why, I ended that relationship after two months of seeing this girl and now I have peace, I miss her and wish I could have made it work but something inside of me knew something I'll never know.....maybe I saved myself from a massive disaster I'll never knew I just have to be st peace that I listen to my gut and I can only hope good things will come to me for doing so.
She has moved on, and I'm happy for her, she got the best possible out come.
@@healthexcellenceconsulting I feel you. Hope you are better now. Troubling times really make us forget who we are, altough I still miss her, I have found a renewed sense of appreiation for myself I didnt have before. When in doubt, focus on yourself and things will fall into place.
@@rossren9691 very brave of you man. Hope you are all right!
Superb. Gabor Maté is a superb human being. This is all SO right!!! I know it all. Everything he says. He's fantastic. He understands the truth so well. Thank you for this.
Gut feeling = instinct = intuition = connected with your trueself = follow your heart 😢😮😢😮
This is so true.
Wise wise man, thanks for sharing. Could listen to him everyday.
Gabor reveals the truth of our lives with such compassion & sensitivity. I truly enjoy his amazing insights.
This video came at the right time for me

iv got authority over the whole globe

im excited and happy

This man is a GEM❤
Meditation means to listen. Listen is an anagram for silent.
Yes, as a means to self-preserve I was very, very nice to my father. At sixteen I had my first manic episode and at twenty I was diagnosed as bi polar. Bi polar is largely repressed rage, unexpressed emotions that have been contained. The subconscious mind can only take so much before it fragments into the conscious mind resulting in psychosis. Psychosis is a cry for help, it is the bodies means by which to potentially heal. If we can become conscious of our painful memories, access them we can heal. Unfortunately Western medicine teaches us that the body is not wise, that it is not resilient. That it needs medication, which, can ultimately kill you, in order to sustain itself. I became deeply curious about my psychotic episodes, piecing together the fragments of delusion and despair, sadness and rage that wanted to make itself known. Aside from witnessing I used other means by which to heal including EMDR. Now, at 41 I am off of all my medication.
😇Beautiful soul...
This is the bodys wisdom. Isn’t
it grand
A very thoughtful interview. Thank you so much.

I am later in life, I have been living alone well over 10 years 🎉
I can safely say I am happily divorced🎉
Only after I removed all of the stressful situations from my life, was I able to hear the voices from within 😶 I got to say, I live with so much less anxiety than I once did. I guess you can say I'm unburdened by what has been🎉😂
11:33: “the awareness of breathe is the most important portal into reality (sic)”
Very wise and thoughtful.
Shanti (Bengali) - Thanks a lot
❤️🙏🏻❤️
Thank you doc
Such a great video, thank you! Personally, I prefer listening to a talk without background music.
Gabor Mate MD PhD ❤
Just MD..he has no psychology degree.
It must be noted, the way the narrator describes meditation as controlling the breath is incorrect. Do not do that, there could be some fairly serious consequences to "controlling your breath". The way Gabor Mate describes it as observing your breath and being aware are correct. Huge difference between controlling and observing
Breathing is a natural thing, force nothing.
I Have ADHD and I'm too nice to people.
That’s odd..it usually is connected to behaving badly, like kicking walls, or something.
@@robynhope219and comments like these have to do with narcissistic and psychopathy 😮

Rebirthing is a breath technique
I used to be into rebirthing in early 80s.
Always love what Gabor says….. BUT please drop the schmaltzy music let the words do the work as they do
Also stop flashing suggestion to watch another video (not by Gabor!)
Agree..The maudlin drama music distracts and trivializes the entire message.
@@malcolmnicoll1165 one of the reasons I never listen..only read transcript.
I agree
Many, via early experiences, are “cut off” from their instincts, intuition and “gut” feelings.
All illnesses start,in the gut. 😮
People never talk about big toe feelings. Like when you wake up in the middle of the night kick your bedframe. Your big toe tells you immediately not a good idea.
❤❤❤
See Primal Trust with Dr. Kathleen King, DPT if you are struggling with chronic disease and this lecture interested you.
The answer was seeking spirituality to gain inner peace.
The sad part for me is that People are guided to Buddhism instead of Islam which offers the true answer to a balanced life.
🙏
🙏❤
Dr. Gabor, all about describing the cuse of addiction in his opinion. Never describing any workable protocal or solution. Yes, gabor has a solution that "almost works". He seems to be fiine with his ,"almost solution". His "celebrity" seems to be enough to give him ineer peace
Do you have a link to the original talk?

For it manifested as Functional neurological disorder
M.S. has recently been shown to be viral, ALS as well. The virus or bacteria that causes this has been eliminated with the drug disulfuram (antabuse).the research is promising
That's great. . .every bit of science and research helps. However, you still have to ask yourself the question, if it is a virus or bacteria why are not more people that are exposed to it end up with the disease. Kinda like the cold. Not everybody who is exposed to the cold virus, ends up with a cold. Some people can fight it off. Maybe stress and negative emotions affect the immune system. Maybe there is an emotional component to the disease that hasn't been addressed properly.
How do you stop being nice?
You have to work on yourself, if you are not able to say no when you want to, it's because you are a people pleaser/codependent.
You have to be aware of your traumas and be ready to dive in yourself.
It's a long road but i swear to you, peace is waiting for you at the end ❤️

What if you don’t want to listen to our bodies?
The Music distracts ☹️
It is getting increasingly clear to me that this man is a very good salesman...don’t forget that: he is SELLING, you’re BUYING.
Please explain
@@dts7824 I think I'm being abundantly clear...u either believe what I said, or u don't.
@@dts7824 u want me to explain the all too obvious???😂
@@robynhope219 if you mean the fact that the things he says resonates and has helped a lot of people and has therefore made money from it, then it's clear you are just being cynical.
@@dts7824 I don't deny I'm cynical, but trouble believing he has helped a lot of ppl..it's what they need to believe.
I gotta tell you, I did not want to hear that too-closely-miked voice summing shit up for 2½ minutes, I came here to hear Gabor Maté. Apologies to the narrator if he reads, but it was an instant irritation.
The music is too loud, unnecessary and distracting.
How absurd. Being too nice results in multiple sclerosis. What rubbish. Such garbage
Please cut the crappy music
Nice people get sick from being nice? He must have a ton of scientific research to share with the class. Or it's bs.
This is so interesting! "niceness" that is genuine and healthy - which is not the result of early childhood trauma - always come with having healthy boundaries and the capacity to say no🫶 Niceness that comes from self-repression is very likely to lead to some kind of physical illness. If you don't say no, your body will!
