Some of power players are one dimensional, I see this with Osaka, Sakkari, Collins, Ostapenko, Sabalenka. If power strokes do not work, they have hard time adjusting and changing their own game. Glad to see that many players found a way against power and are executing it with patience. Well done Kasatkina.
Agreed, all of their games could use some more variety. That said, Sakkara is hardly one-dimensional, and made the semis at Roland Garros in 2021, losing 9-7 in a close final set, to the eventual champion. She can play on clay.
Absolutely right
You don't win four Grand Slams by being one-dimensional, Osaka definitely doesn't belong on that list.
I don’t think maria is big hitter like the once you’ve mentioned but i do agree they need to have more variety and consistency on this surface. Let’s not forget sabalenka won this last yr and beating barty on that day maybe just a mental block againts anisimova. Also with the game style of sakkari she should trive on clay she only has one title and that was 2019 on clay.

Wow, that comeback win by Daria Kasatkina is absolutely phenomenal. And this makes Daria Kasatkina's H2H record against Maria Sakkari 4:0. After losing the first set with the score of 6:3, Daria Kasatkina raised her game and didn't give to Sakkari anymore chances to win this match. Impressive win by Daria Kasatkina. When she is on, she is hard to defeat. Also Daria Kasatkina won this match, because she is way smarter and mentally way stronger than Maria Sakkari. Daria Kasatkina was impressive today. I hope that she can go far in this tournament and win more matches. I also hope that this win will help to Daria Kasatkina to regain her confidence in her abilities. She is former world #10 in women's singles after all.

Wow! Love cute pocket rocket Katsakina, but I never saw this coming! Especially after losing 1st set! I'm Astonished, thought Sakkari would be far too powerful for her! Weird highlights - even though Daria won the match the bulk of the points shown are Sakkari's.

That's the beauty of tennis, at least at high level, to see great athletes to compete and never predict the result, great match from both, Maria is surely my favorite, but Daria is excellent also and deserved it in the end! Each of them takes a lesson from this match! And it is not so good for people to categorize players and say one is smart and fighter and the other not, all can win and all can lose and finally their ranking shows their smartness and strength !
Kasatkina has so many skills. Always thought of her as a modern-day version of Hana Mandlikova. Great win!

Sakkari must have thought easy win after 1st Set, big shock for her I'm sure; and her Grand Slam ambitions just got hit massively. This is gonna hit her confidence big time. Katsakina is very talented, just needed a couple of years on Tour to develop and come into her full potential. I like her a lot, defo in my Top 5 fave players I like to follow progress.👏🙏❤️

I have a feeling Sakkari is wondering, "How did that happen?" Kasatkina is so erratic, you never know what to expect, but I think the oddsmakers would choose Sakkari every time in this matchup. But when Daria anticipates well, and her forehand is sharp, she is a threat. I like her because she a pretty girl who is also very intense and wants to win, and I appreciate those contrasting characteristics. Nice young lady. Go Daria!

I love the matching outfits.
Impressed with Kasatkina, resurrected her game from last year and a good win here. At least from a clip here a lot of action on her serve. Thought Sakkari would take this the way she played the first set, just driving a lot of deep balls, why all those drop shots worked. and then they showed one that didn't, going once too many times to the well? Some below suggests she can only play one way? But even last year Daria seemed to have her number.
Her game is the same. She has always been able to string impressive wins against top 20 players. She is consistent, has great variety, and can move. The reason she flounders is against the true power players of the game. but she is ever dangerous and will continue to be so for her whole career. I love watching her play!

Kasatkina ILOVE YOU ! Sakkari The first set was won easily. But I didn't expect that I made frequent mistakes in the second set. The bizarre return ball went out of bounds and returned the ball to the net. The mentality is completely broken. It's not like the performance of a mature player.

Madrid is 900m over the sea level. It's played on clay, but behaves more like hardcourt. Grass specialist Petra Kvitova has won there a record 3 titles. Nadal has "only" won it 5 times (compare with 12 Barcelona "Count of Godó" titles, or 13 Roland Garros).
All doors opened for Simona to lift 3rd Madrid title and equally better opportunity for resurging Raducanu and Andreescu to make it to finals after all top 10 players are out

Regardless the great match and variety of both players, I like to make a comment about something else here.
I really don't get why players got only 1 color way of clothes. If it's not Osaka or Nadal who got signature lines, any player sponsored by Nike or Adidas or Asics, etc. wears the same dress and many times, players have the same clothes playing versus each other like in this match here.
Probably this is due to contracts, because these pro athletes should be able to have at least 2 color ways with them all the time.
In my eyes, the ATP and WTA should add some rules to force players to wear different color ways playing against each other. It would be way more comfortable to watch.
What would you do with Wimbledon then?
@@rafarequeni822 I think only colors are forbidden, so some black white or grey white should be possible.
Plus it is the only tournament with that special requirement. So it is 2 or 3 weeks (qualifiers) of 52 weeks in a year.
@@melfox215 It's strictly white, as far as I know. And there's no reason why other tournaments could ask for the players to wear only certain colors as well, it's just that they don't care.

With the exception of Iga, the WTA top 10 is a joke right now.
But up until recently both Sakkari and Kontaveit were playing great. It's as if their losses to Swiatek in Indian Wells and Doha knocked them back mentally. And I think they aren't doing as good a job as Swiatek at managing their schedules, which is why all of them (Badosa too) look kind of gassed right now. Plus Muguruza and Pliskova are both coming back from injuries and Krejcikova is still injured herself. It's going to be a game of musical chairs in the top 10 for the rest of the year.
Can we add a rule that two players cannot wear the same sponsor clothes at one match? I can only tell by hair.

Yep, every clip it too another second or two to figure out who's who. I am kinda amazed that Addidas (and I've seen Nike too) doesn't have an outfit coordinator for tournaments. Or maybe they do and like this. I dunno.
