Exactly what I needed to know. I've had a couple of glitches with my trimmer and I knew it was me. I needed to know to set the blade, pay attention to the scores on the cutter to be sure the paper was straight to begin with and how to install replacement blades! Thanks for the video.
I have two of these trimmers and just now started using them. This is timely that I just found this video because I'm sitting here cutting a bunch of 12x12 papers into 4 equal pieces. This is the best info I've found on this cutter.
Best video I've seen to help me use it properly. In the past I've just done what I thought but never realised the things I can do or how to quickly get an inch or more squares without measuring onto my paper first then using a blade to cut by hand. So I've learnt alot today thank you, now I feel more confident using the many cutters that I seem to have accumulated over the years.
I’ve just come across this video. I have been a cardmaker for years. In all this time I have never sussed out the ruffling problem, it happens on things like copier paper for printed inserts, not just damaged papers. It is an obvious solution now you demonstrate it, but I would never have thought of starting in the centre. Thank you, I’m still learning twenty years later!
Sometimes as you’ve said in the past, it’s not the paper or the blade. It’s the little track that needs cleaning. I was making a card the other day and the paper wouldn’t cut right. I got my pokey tool out and cleaned the track and it was good as new. Thanks for showing how to remove the blade. I’ve always lifted the arm and pried it out. Your way looks so much simpler and safer. Glad you made it safely home.
Just pulled out my cricut supplies and have very little experience with them since purchased. Came across your page and find your tutorials very helpful and easy to follow. Just subscribed! Thank you!😊🙏🏽👏🏽
🥰 Girl I had my blade for over two years N didn’t know half the things U just showed us 😂 Thank U so much. N yes I haven’t replaced my blade in two years .
Love this trimmer! Another tip: I mostly cut my paper bottom edge to top. To stretch the life of my blades, I simply turn my blades the opposite direction before replacing them later.
If you do as Maymay suggested, set the blade in the middle of the paper and then cut both ways, wouldn't that stretch the blade life too? I'm going to follow her idea and try that method - sounds like less chance of cutting your finger too! 😀
Linda Taylor It doesn't extend the life of your blade. You're still cutting the same amount of paper. If you really want to keep your blades sharp for longer you can strop them like you would a razor. You can either remove the blade from the little grey housing or just use some green buffing compound on the edge or side of a popsicle stick to strop it while it's in the housing. You could also use the edge of an old belt or scrap piece of leather.
MayMay you are an amazing, enjoyable and easy to follow instructor! During your “MayMay Con” (wish I could have gone. Possibly the next one!) I took the time to investigate UA-cam for new crafters! I had a really hard time finding presenters who can “hold a candle” to you! Thanks for the wonderful & excellent channel, Facebook & store you produce! You and the MayMay Crew do all this while walking the true Jesus love walk...you guys Rock!
I bought mine after your 2017 favourite things video and I am so happy I did! I love this trimmer. Not only does it do as you stated in your video it is light too. Easy to carry with you anywhere. I ❤️ mine! Cricut and Maymay, you rock!
I got my Cricut trimmer shortly before your favorite things video and have never regretted it. I even used it to cut up magnetic vent covers for a die storage project.. It worked extremely well, but wore out the blade very quickly. Your videos are the best.
Thank you so much for teaching on how to use this trimmer. I just bought one and you just saved me a hassle I may have had trying to use it. There should be a booklet with the trimmer on how to do everything you taught, but the Companies are too lazy to add one.
Maymay, I bought this trimmer on your recommendation and I love it. Cricut is always having sales. They had a sale where the trimmer was 8.99 and the replacement blades were 2.99 each. I ordered the trimmer and 2 packs of blades (4 blades). Using the code for 10% off and free shipping I only spent 13.47 total. I'm totally delighted. Thank you so much for all you do.
Hi May May! I discovered your YT channel few months ago and now I'm addicted to your videos! Thank you so much for all you shared! You are a wonderful teacher. I love your review of your Cricut trimmer. TFS
I just started card making a year and a half ago when I found you on YT. I can tell you are the one that taught me because I never start cutting at one end or the other, I ALWAYS sink my blade lol So happy you all made it home safe!
I was headed to purchase the Fiskars trimmer when I saw your recommendation on this one. I am so happy that I purchased this Cricut one which was even less expensive! After my purchase, I went looking for a video, and when I found that you had a video on this one it was just what I needed with great tips I certainly wouldn't have likely figured out myself. Thank you!
May hi; you are the only one who explained the trimmer measurements the best; all the other videos lack so much; you truly are a great teacher; now i know how to use mine. how about some more cuting vinyl and putting on soap dispensers and things. thank you so much
I just bought this particular trimmer at walmart and right afterwards they discontinued it. So happy that your shop carries the replacement blades AND that you mentioned there was a scoring blade. Finances make it an issue for me to purchase a separate trimmer so I was super happy to know about the scoring blade.
I also bought mine after I saw your 2017 video, it's one of the best decisions I've made. It is the fifth trimmer I bought but it's the one i use the most. It's nice and light to carry to scraps, but it's sturdy as well. I'm hoping and praying that one day I will get to meet you and Vinny and give you both a great BIG HUG!!!
Oh Maymay so spooky that you should do this trimmer today, I bought this trimmer only last week, as you said how good it was! I love it, but was concerned about getting spare blades as I didn’t realise the blade was in a housing, but now you have explained it all, I know what I need to get when I need new blades!!! Thank you xx
MayMay - I just started with your recipe album from #10 envelopes and I listened to your 2017 fav tools and I ordered the Cricut trimmer and got the discount and free ship. Your a beautiful Southern Belle thank you for all the tips RaeRae
i bought this trimmer to replace my stampin up trimmer that i have always had problems with on your recommendation and boy am i glad i did it cuts through my card like a hot knife through butter. thank you for the recommendation. maymay you are a may zing
This was a great refresher/recap for me as you have shared these tips in your videos I have watched over the last year and I have incorporated them into my papercutting. The only thing needed to make this trimmer "perfect" would be 6 inches rather than 4 to left of cut line, yes? That way I would seldom need to use the arm.
So, I've been thinking a while about getting this trimmer. I do have several other trimmers but am not very happy with them. So, I watched your video and you convinced me that I really did need to get this one so I did. Thank you for all your insights and for sharing them with us.
Great tips & tricks! The first video I ever watched was "My favorite things" and I bought this trimmer immediately. I have purchased a million trimmers and this is the best one. I've since purchased one for daughter & grand daughter. Thank you, Maymay.
I ordered my first one when you said you loved it in a video. Then I bought two more- one for my cropping bag and one to hang onto to give as a gift or whatever. I love it!
Another quick tip with this trimmer.....if you need to score and don't have a scoring blade, you can line up the paper and use a scoring tool or unopened pen or bone folder in the trimmer slot to score. It is quick and easy. I do this sometimes instead of pulling out my scoring board or changing blades....lol I LOVE this trimmer and use it at the Senior Center when I make cards with the ladies. It is so affordable I could buy 5 of them so we don't have to share one.
I, too, love this little trimmer. The only time I have had to replace the blade was after I cut a big stack of magnet sheets. It cut them just fine, but wasn’t making clean cuts on paper afterwards. Otherwise, I’ve been using it for more than a year. I also use it for scoring, because my hand is sometimes unsteady and my scoring tool sometimes jumps to an adjacent groove on my scoreboard. If I realize I’m having one of those days, or if I have a whole bunch of scoring to do, I find it worth my while to swap blades and score on this trimmer. It’s also the favorite for friends to borrow at our weekly crafting meetup - it’s light enough that I just keep it in my craft tote, even if I don’t plan to do any cutting that morning.
I found this video super informative I have a off brand cutter and I was always having those crimping problems cause my blade is dull on one side and pushing it down in the middle of the paper has probably saved me thank you so much :)
I got this trimmer a few months ago, on your recommendation, and I love, love, love it!!! If I were to never get anything else out of your videos, I would forever be grateful for learning about this trimmer. But, all the other tips and ideas I get from you are amazing!! Thank you! Oh, and I love the happy that watching your videos brings to me! ♥
Thank you so much, MayMay! I've had this trimmer since it first came out, and I learned all kinds of things about it from your video!! I've been doing it wrong and changing blades way too often. I appreciate all the help you so generously share. And I love your voice!
Thank you so much. I have been crafting for so many years but I still learned so much from watching this tutorial. Well done you covered just about everything 👍👍👍
I like this trimmer a lot. I like it for all the reasons you stated why you like it. You did a very good informative video. I appreciate the way you teach us how to use our crafty products. Hope you have a very blessed day.
Second thought, you are so correct often it can be the paper or card stock. I have noticed sometimes the non branded bundle deals I have got from craft shopping channels can be pretty but less well performing. (Furry edges and sticking leaving messes on Scan’n’cut mats etc.) I am more careful to get brands I trust now.
I have other trimmers but once I tried this one it became my absolute favorite. I also love the measurements that are on the clear arm that line up perfectly with the line on the blade. I use that all the time to cut just enough from a full sheet. Thanks for your tips!
Thank you so much for the tips. I purchase mine when I saw your first video but I never knew all of the little tips. I actually have 2 of them. Thank you! Have a a wonderful day
Hi Maymay 😊 I am new to crafting and new to your channel thank you so much for all the great info. I just ordered this trimmer and slowly adding to my crafting supplies your videos are very helpful. Wish me luck on my crafting journey 😉 Trying to get out of bad anxiety and depression after not being able to work because of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia so the days I can move I want to craft 😍 Really appreciate your time. God Bless
How funny! Sometimes my cards turn out a bit too large, and now I know why! Thanks for solving that mystery as it was baffling me. I would bet I sometimes line up to the 1” MARK instead of the 1” MEASUREMENT. How silly I feel but how relieved I am to know what was making an occasion card not be cut correctly! Hugs!
Hi maymay I just found your channel, would like to thank for your video for beginners, I bought this trimmer by watching that video, thank you for all the tips, I love learning from you xx
Thank you for this video. I have several trimmers and not crazy about any of them. I guess I will invest in one more now. Did not even realize Cricuit had a trimmer.
I mess up on trimmers all the time, but you have pointed out some very good things. You do make measuring look easy, but I guess it just takes practice like other things huh. Thanks for the lesson.
Thank you so much for the dedicated video! So glad I found it. I was searching for the video I watched where you mentioned this trimmer and the discount code. Could not find it, then you posted this video and saved me! Thanks for the tips too! Now maybe I can cut straight and without ruffled cardstock!
Wow! Great information! I just got one of these today and the extension arm was stuck. Glad I found this video because I learned so much more about how to use the trimmer;
Hi, could you tell me how you solved your stuck arm problem? I'm having the same issue and don't want to force it in case I break it. Otherwise I love this trimmer :)
@@LindatcakedecoratingI think i just kept messing with it. Really thought the arm would break, but after seeing hers move like it should i got a little braver and got it to work. Sorry I don't have better advice!
Have the first one and love it but trouble finding blades, but purchased the new one, but watching your videos and tricks you use, am still using the first Cricut trimmer with know problems, tfs
Thank you MayMay! I always appreciate your tips and tricks videos as well as your reviews. You never fail to hit on all the important points! BTW, of all the trimmers I have used, this one is my FAV!
'Very good vid . I have this trimmer and have been using it for about a year and have never changed the blade and this trimmer cuts better than my fiskars that I paid over $100 for.
Thank you so much for showing all these tips, Maymay! I purchased my Cricut using your coupon code and I thank you for that also. I finally had an opportunity to do some trimming, but wish I'd have seen this video first, so I'd have known to start my cut by setting the blade in the middle first. Oh well, you've taught me some very useful techniques to use from now on!!
Thanks for the great information, Maymay! I do love my rotary trimmer, but I can see where this trimmer would be great for placing the blade and cutting a straight line inside the paper. Now I have to use a penknife which can be tricky.
Thanks, Maymay! I understand now when to set my blade. I usually cut in one direction though, and when my blade dulls, I just flip it around so I’m cutting with the other side.
Thanks for all your tips and tricks. I love this trimmer, a little FYI - I am left handed and use the trimmer upside down and it still works great! However, I think I will suggest to Cricut to make it a double arm, one that swings out to the left and one that swings out to the right!
Hey Cheryl! I'm a lefty too! I thought I was the only one who uses a trimmer upside down! hahaha! I was hoping that the measurements all the way on the right will work well for me, b/c my left hand is ALWAYS in the way! (hey, do you hold your playing cards backwards, too? Just wondering!)
I hadn't realized how difficult lefties have it at times. My cousin wanted me to teach her how to crochet, but I'm not a leftie so it was difficult. A friend suggested showing her in front of a mirror, so that worked better. I think you all have learned how to be very creative!!
Yes, we have to use our brain a little different. My mom taught me hope to crochet by sitting directly across from me, so it was like looking in a mirror. When she taught me too cook, for the longest time she wouldn't let me use a knife...lol
I’m glad I learned where to store my extra blades! I didn’t know that but always wondered what those cutouts were for. I’ve had mine close to a year now and I love mine #teamcricut
I just got my Cricut trimmer in a mystery box and I’m really liking it. Your video Was very helpful, thank you. 1 question - I put my spare blades in the slots underneath but feel like they’re really hard to get out again... any tips on how to remove them again without breaking a nail? Lol 🙈
Great review MayMay, if you can convince Cricut to make this trimmer with a 6 or 8 inch cutting bed--I'll be first in line to buy it! I need at least 6" to work on, that's just how I roll. :) And I agree, I constantly use the measurements off to the right as well.
Thanks so much for this video.I can only use one hand so cutting is difficult.I have bought so many trimmers over the years.I am used generically a Stamping up trimmer at the present time .I love your videos so much because you don't use a lot of ribbon bows are really hard for me.please if you have any suggestions for bows let me know.keep up the good work.
I do have a bow suggestion. The bowdabra makes a mini version that would help you for card bows. They carry it at Walmart and it is really handy. I have a video on it as well. Hope that helps!
Also, with the "furry" cut - the paper fibers build up in the "trough" where the trimmer cuts - I just take my pokey tool and clean it out every once in awhile. Thanks MayMay!
Thank you Maymay for all you do, I love watching your videos. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this trimmer. I can put it in my go bag and take it to crops and classes. I do have a question though. I've had my trimmer for over a year now and all of a sudden when I cut card stock it has a rounded edge. It's not done that before and I did change the blade, but it's still doing it, is that normal?
Hey MayMay... love your videos... just wanted to share that because these trimmers are so affordable...especially when they are on sale and you use your code... I have two... one is dedicated to the sharp blade and the other is dedicated to the scoring blade... I just put a label on them so I know which one it is... :)
I'd been wanting a new light weight/portable cutter...well actually, this on in particular ;). One that cuts straight without that flimsy wire and wobbly piece. Like you/maymay- I have a lot of types of cutters...I alway watch to see which one(s) you recommend. I've seen you use this one a lot...so... today I got this one. I was able to still use the promo code too...which saves "a LOT" on shipping + 10% 0ff!! Thank you!! You/Maymay do care about your subbies/customers. I've always known that tho ;) (looove the glitter glue)
My measurements have faded... any suggestion to not have this happen? I dont touch it in the area it has faded. Like the trimmer beside s the fact it has faded... great tool and great video!!
Hi Maymay I use a trimmer and my edges are fuzzy, I have cleaned the runner and replaced the blade and still it's fuzzy should l just get a new one ? Thanks Kate England
I’ve had this trimmer for a few months now…and never knew half of what you have shown lol. Thanks!

Good tip to flip the blades. I must do that before I need a new one.

I wait until I notice the blade is dull, then flip it the other direction and use that side until dull. Sure makes them last longer 😊

Thank you so much for this video. Found out some things about this new trimmer, that I recieved in a set, and didn't have instructions.
Learned lots of wonderful things about my trimmer. Thank you for making this video!
So helpful! Awesome because it is SO affordable, as you said. Being my 1st trimmer ever, I'm very happy you recommended it. Thanks for the tips!
Hi maymay I just found your channel, would like to thank for your video for beginners, I bought this trimmer by watching that video, thank you for all the tips, I love learning from you xx
Just bought the trimmer. Thank you so much for all your tips!!!
That was fabulous! I had my cricut paper trimmer for years and didn't know some of those tricks. Thanks again so much! Susan
Awesome video, thank so much for doing this. Learned so much about the trimmer that I’ve owned for several years.
Thank you for this video. I have several trimmers and not crazy about any of them. I guess I will invest in one more now. Did not even realize Cricuit had a trimmer.

Could not find it, then you posted this video and saved me! Thanks for the tips too! Now maybe I can cut straight and without ruffled cardstock!
Seriously, I've used paper cutters for many years at work and you still taught me so much!! Lol😂
Wow! Great information! I just got one of these today and the extension arm was stuck. Glad I found this video because I learned so much more about how to use the trimmer;
@@sillygoose6238 thanks, I'll keep messing with it :)
Thank you! Very helpful and I have had this trimmer for a couple of years!
This video is every bit as detailed and filled with info as the envelope tutorial. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! :)
You are such a great teacher, May May! Thank you!
What an excellent review; very thorough and detailed. It was simple, informative, and easy to understand. Thanks Maymay. Keep them coming!
Thanks Maymay I've purchased 3 trimmers all for different reasons were no good. Just purchased this one with your code can't wait to get what a deal.
Thanks for the great information, Maymay! I do love my rotary trimmer, but I can see where this trimmer would be great for placing the blade and cutting a straight line inside the paper. Now I have to use a penknife which can be tricky.
great tips! i love how detailed you went in. so helpful
Thank you so much for this tutorial, you explained it excellent. ❤
This was very helpful to me. Thanks so much. Learned quite a few tricks.
Thanks, Maymay! I understand now when to set my blade. I usually cut in one direction though, and when my blade dulls, I just flip it around so I’m cutting with the other side.
Thank you for this vedio . I learned how to read and cut on my trimmer. Your instructions where so easy to understand. Linda Frye
Thanks for the insight.
Different question, is that roll of foam tape you use the one that you sale in the store?
Thanks❤
I love this trimmer. Best one I have ever used
Thanks for all your tips and tricks.
Hey Laura,
I sure do hold my playing cards backward, lol...By the way do you, do you flip through magazines backwards as well?🤗
I hadn't realized how difficult lefties have it at times.
Thanks this helped me understand why I couldn't find a housing for my scoring tool.
I just got my Cricut trimmer in a mystery box and I’m really liking it. Your video Was very helpful, thank you.
1 question - I put my spare blades in the slots underneath but feel like they’re really hard to get out again... any tips on how to remove them again without breaking a nail? Lol 🙈
I’m also having a hard time getting them out.
I love mine but I have a question, mine came with a little clear plastic stop at one end. Should I remove this or is this part of the cut guide??
Thank you Maymay for all you do, I love watching your videos. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this trimmer. I can put it in my go bag and take it to crops and classes. I do have a question though. I've had my trimmer for over a year now and all of a sudden when I cut card stock it has a rounded edge. It's not done that before and I did change the blade, but it's still doing it, is that normal?
Excellent tutorial! Thanks so much!
That was a lot of good information! I have the green cricut and I got it used. Can you tell me where I can buy blades for it? TFS
✂️ 's clean 75% of the time.... all the time.... I love mine.
Brilliant, thank you so much for sharing this information, I think I’m going to be getting this trimmer ASAP! 😊
Hey MayMay... love your videos... just wanted to share that because these trimmers are so affordable...especially when they are on sale and you use your code... I have two... one is dedicated to the sharp blade and the other is dedicated to the scoring blade... I just put a label on them so I know which one it is... :)
My trimmer has a gum jelly thing in the middle of the slot where the blade would cut. Is there a purpose for it? Or do I remove it?
I use this trimmer all the time!
This was so helpful. Thank you! 😊
Hi Maymay I use a trimmer and my edges are fuzzy, I have cleaned the runner and replaced the blade and still it's fuzzy should l just get a new one ? Thanks

This is so helpful. Thank you!
I bought one now. I'm pleased
Very informative video. Thank you. I love my trimmer, thanks for telling us about it and the discount code.
thank you for this video! It has taught me so much!! I didn't even know about the hidden arm XD
