Their first album was mostly straight symphonic metal, themed around the French monarchy/ LOuis XIV (favourite song "See You In Hell"). With the second album, themed around Vlad The Impaler/ Vlad Dracula, the band took the production into their own hands and started adding more elements from other (sub)genres to their sound (favourite song "Afterlife" feat. Nils Molin [Amaranthe]). They continued that approach with the third album, themed around Egyptian history/ Cleopatra (favourite songs "Upside Down" & "Seth" [couldn't pick one]). With the upcoming fourth album, they seemingly tuned down the symphonic metal elements even more and are now classified as modern metal (favourite song, so far, "Outer Space").
Not sure where you are in the UK but I'm seeing them support Kamelot at the O2 Forum in London on the 2nd of November. They're doing a few more dates in the UK I think. Melissa has toured with Kamelot singing some numbers that require clean singing/growling when the original guest singer has been unavailable. I imagine not only will she be doing the Ad Infinitum vocals but also Kamelot songs in London too. Kamelot are worth looking out for too - they've been around a long time and supported Nightwish back in 2012 when Nightwish's singer left mid tour and 2 of the guest Kamelot vocalists came forward to keep the show alive, namely Elize Ryd (now of Amaranthe) and Alyssa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy. Not sure if you've checked any of them out yet, but if you like female fronted bands (like me) then you’ll love these.
Melissa Bonny is indeed an incredible singer, she also did a full tour with Kamelot as their guest vocalist singing all the female parts. She is from the French speaking part of Switzerland, while her band mates are all from Germany. Ad Infinitum has a decent catalogue with 3 albums so far, while a 4th is going to be released on October 11th (yes, less than a week from now, so your timing is actually perfect to discover them 😃). If you want to dive in more before the new record is out, I'd suggest Marching On Versailles, Animals, From The Ashes, and Seth. Freeze The Fall and they would love it if you checked out Daughters Of Witches. They always pop in and sat hi and they did on RussinCananada's first comment about them. Freeze The Fall have only been a band 2yrs on july 28th and have signed a distribution only deal with 604 Records shortly after their debut single Glitch dropped. everything on their channel is great and you can see the improvements in even 1 year and if we have this at the beginning we are in for a ride. The Warning is the only other band that hits me like Freeze The Fall and vice versa. be good to one another and ROCK ON !!
