Awesome looks. I’ve learned to enjoy wearing brown in different tones over the years, pairing with blues and greens. The four different browns was a masterful combo.
Wow, love the looks. Also love the idea of using the Color wheel to help pair items to build my outfits. Don’t know why I never thought of that before as I use it for my artwork.
I can only wear brown for apple picking and for Thanksgiving dinner. The rest of the 363 days a year I'm usually in black. LOL. I want to love brown, but I always just find myself avoiding it. Everything always looks great on you! :)
Good morning John, informative video. I grew up with the old notion of two different color families when it came to clothing. The blue gray was one group and green brown was a second. Nice to see how you combine the brown blue family as well as incorporating green as it certainly is a more contemporary mixture. On a side note enjoyed the fact that you moved your introduction to within your video as opposed to the very beginning. I know it's important but it's a refreshing change in your sequencing. Keep your content coming!
Great video John. Brown is my favorite color, so I try to infuse it into my everyday wardrobe. Great choices you selected. I especially loved the green jacket. Great job!
Brown, green and blue have become my go to colours these days because they are so easy to pair together and also distinct as not many people will wear these colour combinations or green and brown for that matter
I may need to add a brown shirt to my rotation. I wear a lot of shoes and boots in the brown family and I have some denim and chinos in a tan color, but no tops in brown. Thanks for the inspiration!
Damn John! I loved every one of the outfits and they complimented you perfectly. I will say that my favorite was with the white jeans. Yes, I took notes. Extremely well done! You have such a discriminating eye. Bravo!
Nice video; really liking the dark brown shirt. I bought a brown leather jacket a while back and often wonder if I should have bought a black one instead.
Just bought a pair of brown suede chelsea boots to go with stone colour slim chinos i purchased at christmas and really like the look. I used to have a dark brown shirt that had a silky feel to the fabric so will be on the look out again for one. Informative video John. Regards Steve UK
John it would be helpful if you could leave notes to wear you purchased the clothing you are wearing. I like many of the styles but not sure where to buy them. Thanks for your channel
Another great vlog. Till today I thought that brown outfit elements are more fall time oriented. You showed that it’s not necessarily that way. Thank you!
Historical perspective. I have heard it expressed that President Ronald Reagan made brown /beige/tan suits "acceptable". I lived through this time period and believe I understand and concur. Traditional/Preppy/Business fashion had blue and gray as the base colors. You could wear khaki pants and shorts but, blue and gray were almost always used in some way. President Reagan brought a "west coast" acceptance of brown to the East Coast. I recall news features/headlines indicating "the first time President_______" wore a beige/tan suit to a press conference. I am Southern/business/preppy age 61 and I know throughout my corporate/legal professional life that brown was difficult to get used to. I had over 100 ties at age 25, suits were arranged by color, ........
That outfit with the white jeans was awesome, I just have a brown polo; it's time to get a long sleeve. Great ideas as always John, keep the good work man.👍
The tan (brown), blue, and green does look really good! Another look that I like and wear is brown, tan, or brass with black. I have some brass colored five pocket jeans that I wear with black chukka's, an ecru mock neck, and a black half zip sweater. Add a Citizen watch with black face and brown strap, and a black Sabona bracelet, and you'll be the best dressed guy in any casual setting. : )
This is detailed and timely, and I appreciate your being concise....I tend to pass right on over my shades of brown. I will will now make a conscious effort to spend more time with them. You need links to the jacket and shirts!
My wife gave polo shirts that are so light in colors: lilac, yellow, mint green and pink. Can you suggest in a video how I can pair them with, pants, shoes, shorts, etc. Thanks so much.
For pants and shorts, something more muted would work well with light colored polos. A light gray would give some balance to your look. Tan or a light brown would also work very well with the colors you mentioned. In terms of shoes, if you’re looking for something more casual, you can go with a loafer or driving moccasin. Tan or white would be prefect here. That’s a start. I can go more into detail if you want. I hope it helps. Love the colors your wife got you. Very sound choices.
Great Video , you've given me some great ideas in previous video's and this one is no different , a couple of questions if you don't mind , What make are the boots ? they look great and I know my wife would love to see me wearing them and the shirt you're wearing @ 4.14 great colour but what make is it ? Thanks in advance .
Thank you very much! The boots are from Lethato, I recently made a video about them. And the shirt is from John Henric. I’ve got a video coming up featuring more of their items later in May.
Another great video! Two questions for ya, first for people with hazel eyes, what's a good color choice for shirt other than the blue one you're wearing? Second, what kind of jacket is the green one?
I used to be addicted to jordan 1s and jordans yeezy, gucci and LV etc... then I had this weird feeling that I want a more mature, fresh manly vibe now... I feel like Jordan 1s and sneakers are for younger people and dont get me wrong Im only 27 but.. I want something that says I'm a man with fashion and I got into brown.. I love it, it is like the king of fashion going to luxury style but not crossing that boundery.. it is very fashionable in my eyes for some reason.
A lot of Jordan products tend to be white with red accents, so they go very well paired with brown clothing as long as the brown is closer to a chocolate shade rather than the light orangey shade that keeps being shown in this video. It definitely won’t fit the luxury vibe but its a good option if u want to wear brown in a more comfortable and casual way. One example is a pair of white and red Jordan’s, pants in a chocolate shade of brown and a white hoody. You’d want the pants to be a more relaxed fit since it’s a casual and comfortable fit.
Great idea for a video. I love brown for accessory pieces but as a whole outfit it's just something that doesn't resonate with me (maybe unconsciously for the reasons you mentioned). You put together some good outfits though 👍
Hi John. I will admit that I'm one of those people that shy away from brown simply because as you said I don't always know what to wear it with. Your video today helps simplify that . BTW diggin' the boots. How do you care for and polish that sort of stripey look of the leather ? Peace . : )
Brown is my favorite color. I love all your looks John. However, don't get offended, I don't like the brown jacket you're wearing. It looks like a custodians jacket.Yes you blew my mind with look #2 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I wish you'd touched on skin undertones. I have very cool undertones to my skin. Many shades of brown are closely related to orange, a warm color. Perhaps the warmest color. While this makes them perfectly complement blue (as you pointed out with the color wheel), I still don't want those warm colors anywhere near my face. They make me look like a corpse. Are there any shades of brown that flatter someone with very cool undertones?
I appreciate the videos a lot, the outfits are great. But I'm sorry, in which world is the shirt at 4:53 dark brown? That's straight up orange. And even one was gonna put it in the brown spectrum still it's certainly not dark brown. I would have loved to see a style with an actual dark brown shirt, because that's what I wanna try out. That said, I'd love to get some of the pieces shown here.
I think the pairing of brown and blue is okay, but not every shade of either match. For instance, I don't like dark shades of both together. On the other hand, when one combines a nice camel hair jacket (in the typical tan color) matches very nicely with a dark blue shirt, pair of standard dark blue jeans and shoes of either color. Likewise, a dark blue blazer looks nice with an ecru shirt and a tie (especially a paisley tie) and a pair of tan chinos or regular tan pants. Also, pairing lavender and tan and green can make a great combo.i owned a purple tie with green accents (golfing motif) which I wore with tan pants, and a lavender shirt. Finally, the accounting world has always considered brown a fashion mistake, but I liked to ignore that little business regimen on occasion. Supposedly, they considered brown an untrustworthy color.
The color preferences survey is probably not related to clothing. In fact, green was found to be the absolutely least favorite color in clothing in a study of women's clothing in 2021.
I don't think its the poverty thought but more of a natural concept of nature. If you visualize nature as a body the brown would be the feet up to the hip area at the highest as the browns in nature are usually the ground and bark on the trees. The highest points in nature are lighter colors mainly blues of the sky and greens in the leaves on trees which in body terms would be in relation to the upper body. Brown shirts don't seem to be made often I think because it doesn't "naturally" belong in the upper part of the body. Most of the times you do get a brown upper body garment it is usually a lighter brown dark orange shade but hardly ever a gravel or coffee grounds color as in nature it is rare to see brown at the outermost point and obviously never in the skies.
I would wear more brown shirts if I could find cool patterned ones and in nice textiles. They all seem to be very plain; and chinos don't do simply because they seem to get dirty easier than any other color. Also I'm Hispanic so my skin does plenty of brown for me no matter what I wear.🤨
I think the problem is with the intermedite shades of brown....but dark brown and khaki color are very masculine colors..come on! all western heroes could not be wrong🤣
