I think what you were wondering about when it comes to the 'opportunistic murderers' trait is that it has a 15 second timer! After 15 seconds the goblins loose those bonuses and you have to reengage melee to reactivate them!
Always nice to see a campaign of the Peak Physical form of a fungus monster.
I’ve long dreamed about doing a campaign with Skarsnik, or someone equally chaotic, where I ignore defending stuff and just go around sacking and looting settlements like you say in the intro. However, I always end up defending my settlements like in every campaign. Will be fun to see if you manage “better” in this campaign!
I've only really been getting into Total Warhammer with the release of IE and I'm still amazed at how easy people manage to make this game look.
Kudos to you, I still have a hard time even beating any campaign on Normal in Warhammer 2, let alone the harder ones like Skarsnik (haven't managed to make an all Gobbo army really work out well as yet) on Hard and up.
Also, Squigs are awesome, really hope we end up getting an official version of Colossal Squigs at some point down the road.
one of my tabletop armies back in the day was all night goblins packing fanatics with squig herds. Total crapshoot on if I'd wipe myself or the enemy out, I loved it.

Skarsnick and the Night Goblins were always a fascination of mine. Fielding an entire army of these little guys looked so good on the tabletop (combat wise not quite so much but hey there goblins - with style). Fanatics did even up the play somewhat. Looking forward to the campaign
The reason the night Goblin damage ability is only active in melee is because if they just had the constant 40% ap buff plus the charge bonus would pretty much instakill any model and i think they changed it from "winning" to "in melee" is because this allowes the game to run better since it doesn't need to calculate wich unit is "winning"
I can't deny that Goblins are fun to watch.

I think bigger armies could be doable, if we had ways to pass them off parts of them to the AI mid battle. Older total wars let you hand off groups of units to the AI and you could then tell them to attack or defend a specific area; no idea why that feature never made it into Warhammer.
I started mine a very strange way. The settlement with the gold mine, I built the absolute minimum there, even skipping the gold mine and going for shinny stuff because it takes 5 turns to out pay the extra turn. Skipping the gold mine and what not makes me not have to worry about the dwarf northern invasion, granting me space to hire 5 armies and raid the south banking a ton of early scrap while putting excess cash into the other two settlements in the region. Granted, 2 of these are just single lord armies, but the 3 scrap is 3 scrap! I think the dwarves to the north also wait longer to attack since your main settlement is not as valuable to plunder.

Skarsnik was in one of his rarest foul moods, as he and the puny leftovers of his last big WAAAAAGH! Was trodding in a unknown stunti tunnel.
Gobla , skarsnik’s most beloved pet squig, belched and the head of a orc shaman flew out and landed in front of him.
The tunnel felt silent for a moment, as Skarsnik eyes fel on the head of the orc responsible for the miserable situation they had landed in.
Many many moons ago Skarsnik had lead a WAAAAGH that had brutalized the horse-loving-smelling lands, ransacked foul vampire castles, burning down knife-eared wood elves and plundering humie lands.
And Skarsnik’s WAAAAGH! had being THIS close to take the humies most loved castle of wut-iz-name was again for his own to prove his ultimate victory over the humies once for all!!!
But then came the baddest news from one of his boyz.
A large battalion of stunti
rangers had managed to sneak past Skarsnik’s backlines and killing off his trusted (by goblin standards) warboss lad that had being tasked in looking over horselands.
Amist the confusion, the stunties even managed to rally the remains of horse-smelling-humies in retaking their lands back from Skarsniks wicked hands.
Furthermore, one of the orc shaman bosses who was supporting his WAAAGH! Had tried to backstab him with the support from the hated Grom the paunch.
With no food supplies from the south and the scheme of Grom, Skarsniks WAAAAGH! Had from wanting to kill humies instead turned into a big infighting in the forest of Reikland, which in turn made it vulnable from all fronts.
Skarsniks had no choice but to flee but not before killing off the loon shaman that was to blame for this nasty situation his boys where in now.
Skarsnik glared at the orc head so long his whole world red and with a scream slamming his spear at the head, over and over, until there was nothing but a red spot left.
With a look at his beloved pet Gobla humped over, eager to lick up the leftovers from his master, as Skarsnik looked up at a dwarfen statues decorating the walls of the tunnels.
While Skarsnik had lost more than anything, this didnt stop him from thinking into scheme to plan. After all, it was the dwarfs meddling that had him lost almost everything and this tunnel was not just leading to anywhere.
They where on their way to the dwarfs kingdom and for the first time in days, Skarsnik face gave a wicked smile as he thought of the heads to claim, the beer to steal and their homes sack.
With a yell Skarsnik got his boys to move again and they would not let themselves be stopped by any stunti until they had claimed his ultimate price…

I've noticed the same weird ambush stuff you mention at around 37:00 - I expect that there are a bunch of places where the ambush chance isn't getting increased by forests, etc on the campaign map.

I remember having a lot of fun with the old modded campaign. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
I had no noticed the change to nasty skulkers before either. It is definitely a buff, but I acually prefer it how it was before. Nasty skulkers were already a really strong unit so I don't think they needed the buff, and the whole, " when you have the upper hand you really do better" not only made sure you had to use the unit carefully and correctly, but was painfully flavorful for goblins.
I'm about to start a campaign with this guy....wasn't sure I've never done a greenskin campaign as I'm fairly new to the game. I've been playing for about 2 weeks, and I'm currently playing on hard campaign with easy battle difficulty as I suck pretty hard at battles, but the hard campaign difficulty gets me an aggressive a.i....keeps me on my toes.

Honestly I have a pretty hard time watching play throughs of total war all the way. But Janet always keeps my attention and the content is always amazing.
I go love squig hopper stacks. They are fragile (though the waagh reward armired squig hoppers are better) but with thwir majority ap ws they can get more than 100 charge bonus. Their damage if you can keep them moving is trugly disgusting.

For some reason when ever I fight the green skins and they have gobos in there army I tend to target them first and the only reason why is that some how a single unit of basic gobos wiped out an entire unit of great swords in a 1v1
