Man Survives 10,000-Pound Slab of Granite Crushing His Face

- Mike Wolo from Massachusetts is lucky to be alive after a horrible accident 20 years ago left his face completely disfigured. His friend, who owned a granite importing shop, had Mike help move slabs of granite that weighed 10,000 pounds each. A granite slab accidentally fell on his face, and his head was crushed to three inches wide. At the hospital, doctors told his family to say goodbye, and they gave him a 2% chance to live. He shared his story with Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall.
The fact that he looks this healthy, can speak fluently and can think clearly is absolutely astonishing.
For real
Very much so
It's like nothing ever happened to him

Yeah, """friend"""
The friend's dad is the real jerk it seems- using his own kid for work, likely underpaid- and his kid's friend. Yeah the friend pressured him into the job, but that was likely on behalf of the father- that's the one who's the real jerk in this situation imo.

What a terrible friend to call multiple times and have his father call to sway his friends to go help after they say no. Hope this guy gets all the money he deserves for pain and suffering.

Seems like they were long term family friends. IDK about you but I would hate to sue a long term family friend over an accident like this. Maybe they paid or helped pay his medical bills? But negligence is negligence, and it seems from the story there was definitely some that day. So I suppose, I don’t know what I would do. Other than expect that friend and his dad to kiss my ass for the rest of my life, probably.
That’s when you talk to your friend and ask about their insurance and sue them and have the insurance pay you a fat check and the friend does their part by paying the increased premiums. If it was an accident of no fault or equal fault then sue and pay your friend the cost of the insurance premium hike. You get money and he stays whole.
My dad was a bus mechanic back in the late 80s before i was born. One day he was working under a big city bus when the jack holding it up collapsed and the bus fell right on my dad. God bless his coworker who was almost 400lbs who immediately ran over and sat on the jack which lifted it enough for the other guys to pull my dad out. He had a lot of damage and to his chest and aoft tissue and broke every single rib but he pulled through and was the best father i couldve ever asked for. 6/24/56-10/19/20 miss my dad every day.
Someone upstairs was fond of this guy, make no mistake. Also his doctors were top-notch. What a remarkable story!
Dude is a walking testament to facial reconstruction surgery. You literally cannot tell that an accident has ever happened to him. That is freaking amazing. We sure do live in a good time period.
We might live longer but society on average is definitely much less happy.
the fact this was 20 years ago too, when facial reconstruction surgery was nothing back then like how it is today…it is actually a miracle he survived and has his health and cognition fully restored
Bruh, I had to double-check that he was indeed the victim, because I didn't believe that someone who speaks and looks so well had his entire face disfigured.
I was run over by a truck. I was crushed and had many broken bones including a broken pelvis, ribs and shoulder but due to modern surgery and medicine I survived and made a full recovery.
@@crand20033 that is amazing! Thank you for commenting. I have never been in any type of situation like that, but it brings me hope and confidence that if something ever was to happen to me that I would have a good chance of being able to lead a completely normal life afterwards.
If you don't feel safe....STOP!!!, the boss standing off to one side berating you for something he wouldn't do=red flag.
And he wasn't even Mr. Wolo's boss, he was the father of Wolo's hounding friend. He wasn't employed by those people.
@jb6712 I know, right?
Not even his boss. Just some guy his friend hired. And his friend essentially emotionally blackmailed him into doing this. His friend is a jerk and owes him FOR LIFE
This is the kind of scenario where the whole deal was sketchy to begin with. What a poor excuse for a friend. This man has to be protective and avoid accodents onjuries. Plus he's gonna have a lifetime of issues.

What a crazy miracle. He is so lucky to be alive. The fact he went from thinking his life was over to where he is now is really inspiring. Proud of this dude.
His family kept him from seeing how he looked in the early days. I believe that helped too. He just felt how he felt. He didn’t realise how damaged and actually hurt he was. Once he got a little better and see himself then he worked hard to focus on recovery. Mindset and determination is amazing medicine in itself. The surgeons did an amazing job. I love this story ♥️ so happy he survived and now he has his happy ever after. All my love to him and his beautiful family x
The fact that he still calls David a friend is the most surprising thing of all.
ya especially after he planned this and knew it was going to happen!
At this point, he can't really blame him. Yes David dragged him along all this, if it were not for him, none of this would have ever happened, but also, because it did happen, David technically saved him too with his quick thinking. David became a double-edged sword for this disaster but also the savior until the ambulance arrived. Every second, every millisecond absolutely counted for this moment.

his surgeons did an incredible job
In 2008, I had fallen off a balcony, I landed approximately 20 feet down, on my head, on concrete. Doctors didn’t think I’d survive, some wanted my heart. But, a neurosurgeon told my parents that he could try saving me. A total of 3 brain surgeries, 11 months of therapy, and having to re-learn everything, including how to walk. I’m a survivor, of a horrible accident that should have killed me. Your story is very inspiring, not just to me but to anyone who thinks that miracles don’t happen.
I had no clue that was him at first. The surgeons did a wonderful job on him. A Miracle ❤
That friend better owe him at least 10,000 favors.

That man wasn't his friend to brow beat him when he said that he didn't want to do it. The whole set up was unsafe and they lack qualifications. The truck was tipping over due to the payload is a horrific thought. I hope thst he sued his friend and took over his business.
