- Spend a Sunday in Merida with us! This week we're taking you along as we head to a Vegan Expo event held at the Rotary Club in Merida, Mexico. We're so glad a subscriber tipped us off to this event, because it was so great seeing so many plant-based vendors selling such delicious food! After the Expo, we headed to a nearby bank to pay our landlord with a bank transfer, which is an easy (and very common) way to pay your bills when you're living in Mexico!

Just came through to hit the like button and discovered the CNBC video. Interesting! We've planned on retiring in mexico for many years. As we get closer, we watch these changes with anxiety. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing it's seems to be getting more popular. Unfortunately, we still have a least three years to wait. 😥

Thx for sharing. Looking forward to stumbling in gems like these. I’m not fully vegan, but I don’t eat most meats… and i kind of have a cheese fetish, so going fully vegan sounds a little tough. But i definitely love to try lots of yummy plant based products & meals. Just curious, being pride weekend in LA, are there any pride things going on there this weekend? Maybe that’s another video I haven’t seen. I’m sure Mexico City probably goes off.

Curious... could you pay with your debit card at the atm? Or does it only allow cash deposits?
We're pretty sure it's just cash deposits, unless you have a Mexican debit card then we believe you can do transfers directly from your account.

oooo we're down for ANYTHING sweet potato! That sounds delish! We're not sure what they made the tacos from at the expo - although someone did tell us they get their "meat" from Mexico City and because it's so good they always sell out super quickly! Which we believe because we ate those two and then immediately wanted like 8 more 😬😂

Im family, vegan and in Centro but didn’t hear anything about the vegan expo, ( Ive only been here two months but I would love to go there, so great! I just activated my WISE debit card here yesterday and it worked beautifully. I have my PR but dont have an RFC yet and with WISE and my cash card from my bank in Canada Im not sure I need a bank account here. Love your videos been following since the beginning.
Wise is how I pay my rent in CDMX too - no card or ATM needed, just takes two minutes from your laptop!

Sooo, can you do a bank transfer from your bank account to the landlord's bank account directly? So no cash that you would have to withdraw(which costs cause we don't have anything like Charles Schwab).

I was going to ask the same thing. I have a friend in Spain that pays his rent this way. He does an automatic transfer of money he has has in Wise (formerly known as Transferwise) to the landlord’s bank account using the recipient’s IBAN number. In fact that same friend says all of his bills are “domiciliadas” - that is they are all deducted monthly automatically from the electric company etc.
@@goldvideo yeah in Europe most people pay their rent this way.
The domicilidades is not allowed here by law for rent but for elec.gas water yes.
I will ask my Airbnb host next week when i arrive in Mexico.
Cause i think it's possible when you have a Mexican bank account...
@@ellisrose8017 Yes, rents aren't allowed to be domiciliados in Spain either. As far as transferring money, since getting a Mexican bank account is very difficult (due to needing an RFC - Clave en el Registro Federal de Contribuyentes), why not use Wise (aka Transferwise)? Just open up an account in Mexican Pesos, and then you'll easily be able to do a transfer as long as you have the landlord's banking info. Pan comido (easy peasy).
You did not have to go find vegan, you were in vegan heaven!!
