You have to pull the elastic thread a bit tight for it to gather well

So cute love a shirred moment, also I just learned hitting it with steam from the iron when it's done also helps at the end it tightens the rows of stitching. Thanks for sharing

As the elastic is in the bobbin, can the tension in the bobbin be adjusted 🤔

Test the process on a piece of the shirt you are using first to get your dials at the desired setting.. also..... Think about using coloured elastic....... 😉

I was just gonna put my own comment saying the exact same thing! I love her videos and how she shows her process for achieving her goal, If you tube had a heart instead of a thumbs up I would definetly ❤ her videos. I also feel the same way about her confidence, she is the ONLY youtuber I watch that makes me want to go out and buy a sewing machine and start sewing 😄 but where my struggles lie is in finding a sewing machine that is good that doesnt have all the bells and whistles that I dont need. I just need a good sewing machine that can do basic things like, sew a hem on different textiles, I would like the backward stitch option instead of me manually doing it, inexpensive and is user friendly for beginners. I have considered buying a second hand one, but again I lack the knowledge of whats a good machine vs one thats not so good.

@@yvettemontalvo7991❤ I feel the same way about her AND the exact same way you felt! So much so I went out and bought a sewing machine!
Coincidentally, one that Angela herself reviewed (check her channel!) and likes!
"Janome Easy to Use Sewing Machine" - plug that into Google, and I picked mine up at JoAnn's bc at the time there was a sale for the color I wanted.
That was about 2 weeks ago, and I have made:
      3 shirts
      1 stretch pencil skirt
      1 pair of sweat pants
      4 scrunchies
And clothes for 2 dolls I made years ago (a dress and jacket for one, a jumpsuit and jacket for the other, neither were from a pattern and look....very handmade lol but still the dolls ain't nekkid).
All of the above to say? DOOOO IIIIIIT!!! lol you will NOT regret it!!

Make sure you use steam to shrink the elastic into place after finishing. Don’t iron it, just hold above it and hit the steam burst. It helps afterwards. 😘👍

❤❤❤❤ your videos! i do have a question and that is: what would be the difference between manually threading a bobbin with elastic thread vs doing it with a bobbin threader? Now, I can assume that the threader would stretch the elastic thread as supposed to manually doing it, but if the thread is stretched wouldnt it gather automatically or will it make it TOO ruchey once sewn?

You are so creative and talented, thanks for sharing. I have a lovely dress which is shirred from the armpits to waist, with a handkerchief bottom with shoulder straps . I want to refresh the shirring because its stretched out. Is stirring easy to remove? How Would this work with elastic instead of the thread elastic you used? Hope you can help. Thanks.

You should try the top part you cut off on with it , maybe when you have it on as a skirt and a white tank or tee to make it be like a jacket or a blazer type jacket. Just an idea. Yes I love those jeans they remind me of a pair I had as a little girl mine had belt loops going down the side seam. 😊

I'm super frustrated. One of my first sewing projects was shirring and it came out beautifully using my beginner machine, a Singer Stylist. I upgraded slightly to their computerized heavy duty machine (hd6800c) & for the life of me, I can't get the tension right for shirring. It baffles me. PS: Will try again with long stitch & low tension. Maybe I never went low enough?
