The only New Dji budget drone im aware of is the Mini 3 ( not the pro). A drone without obstacle avoidance. Still not cheap. I had the Mini 4 pro, but swapped for the Air 3. Much much better drone. The 70 mm 2nd camera is a massive advantage. Wind resistance is so nuch better. Where i live wind is a problem, and the mini 4 pro just struggled all the time. So always had to forget flying. Obviously the drone laws make the mini tempting, but the 3x lens means i can get much closer to the point of interest without having the drone on top of it.
Just filmed some of the Alexander Mountain Fire here in the Colo Rockies with the DJI Mini 4 Pro .. Super impressed with the capability of this tiny little drone, especially with an extended range battery. Handles some serious winds (like literally hot air circling in a wildfire) and records buttery smooth cinematic clips.
Uk here. I have just had BBC broadcast quality film crew working in my garden. I was excited to see what drone the cameraman was using. Mini 4 Pro. Amazing quality along with Sony cinema camera! Great video 👍

If you planning to make money with the drone professionally, i personally suggest to just upgrade to DJI Air 3 since it has more wind resistance + 2 cameras to have better flexibility with the shots
Danny, super job reporting on this drone. I have always liked the bigger, heavier drones but they were a pain to travel and bike with. For me, it's about the camera and technology (obstacle avoidance is a game changer). I'm picking one up on Friday!!! Yeah!
I have a Mini 2, and I have never had an issue with the mini sd card slot or the ubc port being uncovered. Also, you just need to carry a small #000 Philips screwdriver and a spare set of props with you and problem solved. I dont think those would be cons with any drone.

I thought my Mini1 was amazing... then sold it cuz I wasn't using it that much anymore then hearing about the Mini3 after the Mini2 getting already a way more stable videoT totally forgetting about it, been busy in life... suddenly seeing Mini4 advertised 20KM range!! yeah boy I have no choice but to get it even if I barely go further away then 100-200meters (mostly due to law keeping it visible) now knowing IF sight is lost I can bring it back NO SWEAT Late to the party I'm deffo getting this, almost finished my license & already bought a motorcycle!
well, to use active track the light conditions have to be well. due to the little cameras used for obstacle avoidance it is more likely to not crash when enough light goes in.
No, the newest things aren’t always the “best budget”. Low budget is buying a used or refurbished mini 2 for example, which has excellent image quality especially when you barely use drones and just want one for random occasions. Mini 4 pro isn’t exactly a “budget” price especially for people that aren’t creating content or video for money.
Hi, have you noticed that the outer shell makes this creaky sound when squeezed? Compared to, say, the Mini 2 - the build quality feels less sturdy. I'm not sure if this is by design to pack in more tech while still keeping the body nimble and durably light, but it does get on my nerves. Your thoughts? Thanks!
I feel your pain. Taking my drone everywhere, but never comes out of the bag. It's got to a point now if we see a patch of blue sky, we come out to point at it and marvel 😅. I'm in the peak District, and I have never known the last 6 months be so DULL☁️☁️😔
From my research the mini 4 pro is a buy once, cry once item. Won't need to upgrade for quite a while due to the options it has. Not as much as a mavric 3 pro, but it's a good base line to start with.
Great video... I am going to buy the mini 2 SE, I have never flown a drone before, so I figure I am going to crash it a bunch of times. When I am confident with that drone, then I will upgrade to the 4 or maybe 5 if its out. Feature set is great for basic shots, some cool b roll footage.

Totally agree that omnidirectional obstacle avoidance doesn't work great with trees with tiny branches. My drone crashed into one while on auto track. That said, the DJI repair service was excellent. Returned my drone fixed within the week. Also, during windy conditions, it definitely struggles. I am really tempted to try the air or mavic pro on the next update.

I flew a friends mini 4 and being able to grab the controller and run out to grab a quick shot was so easy. At that $1,100 dollar range why not just get the Air 3 or spend a little more and get the Mavic 3 Classic? Budget Drone my ass.

No it won't be compatible. If you don't know what a LUT is you don't need it. I certainly would never purchase LUT profiles! You shoot flat when you want to be able to adjust in post the perfect amount of shadows to highlights & colours. Each clip or set of clips is adjusted manually by a colourist ie the LUT is Taylor made for individual clips. It's only usually done for feature films as it's very time consuming and often a PITA. In 18 years of video production I've only used it a handful of times.

Dont think you can, its a c0 classed drone, but since it has a camera it falls under the A1/A3 subcategory, which limits the drone to 120m unfortunately
Yes, if you did declassify your M4P drone before 31.12.2023. Will become C1 class, but because is under 250 grams there is no license obligation. You can go up to 500m, if your controller is connected to the internet. If you're away from any wi-fi you can use your phone, to create a hotspot. I own a M4P and I did declassify my drone on 27.12, 99% of the time 120m limit is enough. PS - If you need any service from DJI and your drone will be replaced with a new one they will provide a C0 drone that cannot be declassify again, or at least that was the tip from DJI last year.
Great review. But I found my DJI mini 4 Pro battery gets discharged very fast. When recording for 3-4 minutes or flying for 10-12 minutes the battery gets discharged completely. What could be the reason for this poor performance of the battery?

Can you fly with Mini 4 higher than 120m in Europe?
Dont think you can, its a c0 classed drone, but since it has a camera it falls under the A1/A3 subcategory, which limits the drone to 120m unfortunately
Yes, if you did declassify your M4P drone before 31.12.2023.
Will become C1 class, but because is under 250 grams there is no license obligation.
You can go up to 500m, if your controller is connected to the internet.
If you're away from any wi-fi you can use your phone, to create a hotspot.
I own a M4P and I did declassify my drone on 27.12, 99% of the time 120m limit is enough.
PS - If you need any service from DJI and your drone will be replaced with a new one they will provide
a C0 drone that cannot be declassify again, or at least that was the tip from DJI last year.

Great review. But I found my DJI mini 4 Pro battery gets discharged very fast. When recording for 3-4 minutes or flying for 10-12 minutes the battery gets discharged completely. What could be the reason for this poor performance of the battery?

I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on a drone to take on his with my wife here on Vancouver Island. I was thinking of trying to save and get the Mini 3 but video's like this help me make that decision.... does your link work in Canada?
