I remember when I fist discovered this song many, many years ago. It was labeled, "Metallica + Megadeth + King Diamond".
Me too, I downloaded it (sorry, Lars) in the times of Ares by artist "Megadeth & Metallica" and took me like 3 or 4 years to discover the name of Mercyful Fate. I still want it played live by Hetfield, Mustaine and Diamond.

Hahaha. I hella remember that too. I was super stoked thinking these 3 legends recorded a song together. At the time too, I wasn't very aware King sang in mid-range voice as well as is falsetto voice, So I always thought it was James singing, Dave playing guitar and King adding that eerie vibe to it. Haha good times, in illegal ex downloading sites ;)
Haha, I remember downloading a song that was labelled "Metallica & Megadeth - Sleeping Peace" which was actually Over the Wall by Testament. There was also a song called "Hunger" that was also labelled as "Metallica & Megadeth", but actually it was a song of the same name by a band called Eternal Decision, and their vocalist's voice sounded a bit like a mix between James Hetfield's and Dave Mustaine's voice. Good old days...
How funny, I downloaded this song too a while ago and it was labeled king diamond, not mercyful fate. CLOSE! Lol Also were all guilty of stealing Hahaha ;D

mercyful fate is not black metal, they just were one of the influences in the early days because of the lyrics themes etc. They're still just heavy metal

It was there last album "9" the year was 1999. If you haven't listened to King Diamond, since this album for his solo band "King Diamond" he has put out, Abigal 2, The Puppet Master, and Give me your soul please... Albums all good so check em out

@crustme444 Yeah he actually was in Mercyful Fate before he started his solo Career, Recommended liustening for MF are the albums "Melissa" and "Don't Break the Oath" and the song was released in 1999
What makes this song so creepy is, during the Black Plague, things like this actually happened.

well, king diamond i believe had a song i think was called buried alive and they sung it with metallica. It might had been a one time thing but i have the MP3 somewhere, or at least my friends does.

@metalheadmartyr They are generally considered Heavy metal and they are considered an important inspiration for the thrash and black metal(Venom, Hellhammer, Bathory, Celtic Frost, Coroner... the first wave I mean) movement too

Megadeth got King Diamond to tour with them on the Peace Sells....But Who's Buying? Album tour because at the time King Diamond also just released Fatal Portrait(so ti was a Peace Sells....Fatal Portrait tour). That is the Megadeth/Diamond connection.

Yea I agree every mercyful fate solo is brilliant from hank, michael and andy. they kicked some major ass. dont break the oath is full of sick ass solos. king diamond is like ozzy he only gets the best guitarists.
